Chapter 26 #2

“Tition take you can take your miserable ass on. We're here to celebrate the life of Sonni. If you aren’t here for that then you can leave,” Our mama said cutting her eyes at Tition, he was unmoved by her heated glare. Titon lived to get under our mama’s skin.

Titon chuckled sinisterly. I could tell he wanted to say some lay shit but was biting his tongue. “I guess. I’ll go along with the shit. I guess since Sonni dead we can act like he was a saint,” Tition sarcastically said.

Sonni and Titon never got along and it was sad to say it was because of our mama.

Whatever she put in Sonni’s head he believed and it made him dislike Titon as much as our mama.

I couldn’t count the times I had to step in to stop Titon from taking Sonni’s head off.

Sonni was a mama’s boy whatever our mama said he did without question.

Shit between Titon and Sonni really hit the fan when Sonni fucked Titon’s girl at the time.

Any chance of them ever fixing their relationship went out the door.

“Nigga watch that tone when it comes to speaking on my brother. I’ll die behind his respect,” Lamere said stepping up towards Titon.

“Bitch ass nigga who gon’ stop me,” Tition aksed clasping his hand in front of himself. Titon’s demean might have seemed calm but if you knew him you knew that was the calm before the storm.

“Me nigga!” Lamere barked lifting his shit revealing the handle of his gun sticking out from his pants.

“Aye Ma, you better tell this little nigga how coming behind ours,” I said turning my attention to our mama.

She knew how we all were when it came to protecting each other. If one fought we all fought wasn’t no fair fights with us. Clearly our mama didn’t warn this nigga to tread lightly.

“She ain’t gotta tell me shit ima correct any nigga speaking bad about Sonni. Fuck you niggas thought,” Lamere tried to put on a brave face but his eyes held a nervous twitch.

“How the fuck you gon’ try to tell me what I can and can’t say about my mutha fuckin’ brother.

Nigga we ain’t never seen you before today.

Wasn’t even at Sonni’s funeral but you think you finna check me.

I say what the fuck I want to and ain’t no nigga finna shut me up.

” Titon calmly replied with his eyes narrowed as he stared directly at Lamere, who was looking everywhere but at Titon.

“This isn’t what I wanted this evening to be about. If you boys are going to go along with Titon’s foolishness. All of you can leave,” Our mama gritted out shifting her gaze onto each one of us.

”Shit, I ain’t want to come fake it with you no way,” Titon snickered, throwing the duces up as he headed back towards Ya’s Black Hummer.

“I don’t know why he thinks he has any reason to be angry,” Our mama said.

“That nigga a bi-“ Lamere’s word were cut short by a vicious punch from Nakeem, that sent him flying backwards, landing on his ass.

“Bitch don’t speak on my brother and you bogus for bringing this weird ass nigga around us.” Nakeem placed his heated glare onto our mama as he said. “Talkin’ about he Sonni brother be fucking serious. That nigga ain’t related to no fucking body.” Nakeem barked before walking off.

“Hurry up nigga. You done dragged me away from my wife for this shit. Ain’t nobody even here.” Yaro said, shaking his heading back to the car too.

“I don’t know why I expected more from any of y’all.

A bunch of haters. Who are willing to do anything to ruin Sonni’s shine.

I swear if I knew what I know now none of you evil bastards would have made it to see the light of day.

” My mama snarled at me evilly. I should have been bothered by her words but Pricilla had said way worst. When she got mad nothing was off limits for her.

“You something else Pricilla but ima get up with you later. We need to discuss some things.”

The four of us had decided it was time for our mama to retire from working with us.

She’d showed money was more important than family.

To save the last bit of respect for our mama it was time for us to cut ties.

She wasn’t going to be happy about the change in business plans but she couldn’t stop it.

**********************

“We need to pull up on that nigga Riker,” Titon said before he took a long pull of the blunt we were smoking.

Sitting on Ya’s back patio the four of us sat talking about everything going on around us and how we wanted to handle shit.

We’d let this shit go on long enough. We already knew how we were going to handle our mama as far as her stealing from us.

We just needed to figure out who’d been sending us these text messages and if that was connected to us getting robbed.

“You can’t convince me Riker wasn’t in on that shit with Sonni,” Ya’ spoke after taking the blunt from Titon. “Them two were too tight for him not to be involved on the shit Sonni was doing,” Ya’ said.

“Right but that was when Sonni was alive. Riker dont got the sense to pull off no shit like this on his own.” I quickly rebutted.

Nakeem shook his head, “Fuck that, you niggas under estimating Riker. I swear that nigg smarter than he let on. He be playin’ stupid.”

“You think?” I quizzically asked.

“Ion put shit past that nigga. Sonni and him stayed tryna get over on somebody.” Titon grumbled.

“You can’t say Sonni ain’t run Riker like he was his bitch. You remember he made that nigga walk to Downtime to get him another burger after Riker sat on his first one,” I snickered remembering the crazy shit Sonni used to do. He really thought he ran something but he ain’t run nobody but Riker.

“Mannn, that one time Sonni had Riker standing outside in his drawls because he fucked up they reup money. That nigga was really out there like a bitch tryna sell some pussy,” Ya’ laughed.

“Sonni was fucked up in the head forreal,” Nakeem shook his head smiling at the memories of Sonni.

“Priscilla 2.0.” Titon bitterly said. “She the reason he was the way he was.” He sighed.

”Yeah.” I replied not liking to think of the dark side of Sonni.

I liked to remember the good of Sonni but if I was honest there wasn’t a lot of good when it came to Sonni.

His bad outweighed his good. Before he ever stepped into the streets Sonni had been arrogant and unappreciative.

He knew he had us to protect him so he didn’t fear anything and being born with a natural talent for football his ego was out of this world.

Sonni walked around with his ass on his shoulders on most days.

I loved my little brother but Pricilla had fucked him up.

”How we gon’ pull up on Riker if we don’t know where he rest his head at?” Ya’ asked reeling the conversation back from the somber tone that over took us.

“Shit, I know where his mama stay,” Nakeem answered.

“What we gone do just show up and tell her we looking for Riker?” I skeptically asked, the weed had Nakeem tripping.

“Why not?” Nakeem said bawling his face up at me crazily, “She probably think he was cool with us too.”

“We ain’t got shit to lose. You said you wanna get this shit taken care of who gives a fuck about how we go about the shit.” Titon spoke.

I sighed, “When y’all tryna do this shit?”
