Chapter 12 Drecken #2

“How was that?” I repeated in a rasp. “That was...incredible. I’ve never felt that before.”

“I’m glad I’m your first,” she said smugly. “Now, I need you inside of me, Drecken.”

I snapped my fingers, undressing us both in an instant. Our clothes were folded somewhere on the floor behind us.

“Anything for you.” My hands reached for her, flipping her to face the fireplace.

Her hands gripped the mantel. “Don’t make me—” She cut herself off with a moan as I spread her thighs from behind and nudged my throbbing cock inside of her. “Yes,” she moaned.

I pulled back out and teased the heat of her entrance, going in only a little as my magic shot sparks from my tip. “How’s this?”

Sex magic thrummed through our bond from me to her.

She moaned, gripping the mantle tighter. “More, Drecken, Fates, please!”

“You have all of me, Rune.” I grabbed her thighs and pushed into the heated core of her body. My magic spun through us, and pleasure came over us like waves as she tightened around me.

The fire flared in front of us, green and blue flames licking up the fireplace as my magic filled the room and responded to hers.

I pressed her against the carved stone, my hand splayed against her spine as my aura melded with hers. I filled her completely before I started rocking my hips into her. It felt marvelous. I gritted my teeth in a hissed moan, trying not to come too early.

She arched back into me, and the pleasure continued to build and build. My magic filled her with every thrust, and her orgasm exploded through the bond as she screamed.

Her screams set me off, and her orgasm stretched into minutes before I couldn’t hold it back anymore.

Passion burst through the bond like waves lapping against the shore. My magic put on a show as I came again, my release pouring inside of her.

“Drecken,” she gasped, catching her breath, and her legs trembled beneath her. “That was the longest orgasm of my life.”

“Sex magic,” I replied gently, kissing her slick shoulder. “Did you enjoy it?”

“Immensely,” she purred as I pulled out of her. Using my magic, I cleaned and dressed us again.

“Your magic is so helpful.” She stumbled as she turned to me, and I caught her in my arms. “Clearly, I’m falling for you in more ways than one.”

“Falling for me?” I repeated, getting lost in her golden eyes.

“Yes,” she murmured. “I love you, Drecken.”

My heart clenched, and my eyes widened. “You...love me?”

The only other souls in any world who have told me they loved me were my parents.

“Yes,” she whispered, wrapping her arms around my neck. “I love you with everything in me. Don’t you feel it?”

Her heartbeat pounded against my chest as a warm tingle spread from her to me. It was love. I’d been feeling love in the matebond, and I hadn’t even noticed.

“I feel it,” I rasped. “I feel it.”

“I love you,” she repeated, resting her head on my chest. “Can we cuddle?”

I trembled with her in my arms, using my magic to create a pile of blankets for us to sit on in front of the fireplace that was now rolling with red and orange flames since my magic had calmed.

“Jesper told me about Darian,” I muttered, pulling her close as we moved to the pile of comfort. “I’ve done a few scrying spells, but unfortunately, tourmalyke must be blocking me.”

She stiffened. “Thanks for trying. I can’t believe how naive I was to trust him. I’m sorry I never told you everything about Darian.”

“Inexperience isn’t naivety, Rune.” I tilted her chin to look at me. “It’s refinement. You cannot learn without making mistakes. Jesper explained the gist to me, but you shouldn’t have to repeat a story that grueling twice.”

“Thank you. So, does that mean you are my experience, too?” she teased.

“I’m your mate,” I grumbled. “I can be your experience, but I’m also not passing. I will be with you until the day we die.”

“I love the thought of that,” she mumbled softly.

I snapped my fingers, summoning an old, sealed envelope from my parents’ study. “My parents wrote this a day before they passed away. They told me to give it to my mate when I found her.”

Her breath caught. “You kept it all this time?”

“Yes. I never thought I’d be able to fulfill their request, though.”

My heart skipped a beat as she opened the envelope. My parents’ intertwined scents filled the space. She pulled the letter out, smoothing it.

I peered over her shoulder, and hot tears filled my eyes.

To our son’s fated,

We can feel our time on Kalista ending, and we are saddened that we cannot meet you in person. I hope you met him soon after we left, but the Fates’ timing will be perfect. I do hope he hasn’t been alone all this time.

Drecken is very intelligent, as I’m sure you’ve gathered. He is also immensely powerful in arcane ways. But he lacks empathy and emotional understanding. I hope that with you, he will learn to navigate that and better himself.

Be patient with him. He is more than the eccentric researcher role he fills so easily. Take the time to understand him and be there for him, just as I am sure he will be for you. He knows how a fated mate should be treated because he saw firsthand every day the love we shared.

We regret we can’t meet you, but we’ve had our friend, who is a seer, do some digging. We know your power will rival Drecken’s differently. We also know that you will have more mates than just him.

We are thankful that he will have a family again, and we wish nothing but the best for you and all of your mates.

Sincerely,

your mother and father by mating,

Elowen and Oberon Grimsworn

Tears slid down my cheeks as I looked at her, and she was crying, too.

“Oh, Drecken, I’m so sorry.” She sobbed, pulling me in for a hug. “They loved you so much.”

“They did, and I loved them...and I love you,” I told her, inhaling her scent that calmed me greatly.

“I know,” she pulled back and kissed me softly. “I feel it through our bond.”

A loud snore broke the moment, and I groaned.

Rune blinked through her tears and looked behind us, where a very round spider monkey was sprawled across the side of the velvet sofa, wearing a crooked blue bowtie.

“Drecken,” she whispered. “What is that?”

“Oh,” I chuckled, running a hand through my hair. “Right. Please forgive me.”

I pointed toward the monkey, sending a jolt of magic through him.

He jumped awake, straightening his bow tie. With a posh accent, he said, “Master Drecken, you mustn’t awaken me at such an ill-fated hour.”

“You were snoring again,” I told him.

He hid his face as if he were embarrassed, and then he noticed Rune. “Oh my, is this your mate? How delightful. Mistress, I am Sir Reginald, at your service. It is a pleasure to finally meet the other half of Drecken’s soul.”

“You knew?” I furrowed my brow at him. “You knew I would have a mate and never told me?”

“Well, I wasn’t sure if you’d just be half-souled all your life. But your mother was insistent that you would have one after all.”

Rune giggled behind her hand at our exchange. “Um, can I call you Reggie? You kind of look like one. Nicknames bring fondness, you know.”

Sir Reginald gave a scandalized scoff. “I look like a Reggie? Is it because I have let myself go? I may nap excessively, but I remain refined. Unlike my master, who experiments on himself for arcane advancements.”

“Sir Reginald,” I groaned. “Enough of that.”

“Anyway, I do not have a purpose to be with my master at all times because if anything, he gives me power.” Sir Reginald stared at Rune. “His mother actually needed me.”

“You were his mother’s familiar?” Rune smiled softly.

Sir Reginald puffed out his chest. “Indeed. Her final wish was that I would look after him so he wouldn’t be alone.”

“I never needed a guardian,” I muttered, cheeks heating.

Sir Reginald sniffed. “You need supervision.”

“You heard Reggie,” Rune took his side with a cackle. “You need him.”

I rolled my eyes but gave in. “Of course, Rune.”

Sir Reginald bowed. “Then it is settled. Mistress Rune, you may call me Reggie.”

“How come I never knew you had a familiar?” Rune asked softly, staring up at me.

“Reginald is the last tie I have to my parents,” I explained.

Understanding flooded the bond.

“It’s Sir Reginald to you, Master Drecken,” Sir Reginald corrected before rolling back onto his back and began snoring in the same instant.
