Rodeo Nights & Almost-Moments?
Posted: October 5, Forest Grove, MT
Well now, who knew we had that much dust, denim, and downright talent hiding just outside town limits?
If you missed the homegrown rodeo out at the Off-Duty Rescue Ranch this weekend, I regret to inform you that you missed more than just a few impressive rope throws and a questionable amount of homemade jello salad.
You missed a show.
Let’s start with the obvious: the ODRR boys did not come to play.
They dominated in calf roping and wrestling, and one particularly memorable moment involved a certain long-haired cowboy launching himself off a horse as if he could defy gravity.
I won’t name names (because I never do), but I will say this—if you heard a collective gasp followed by a suspicious number of women fanning themselves, you were standing in the right section of the crowd.
But this gal noticed there was only one woman who got the benefit of his tipped hat.
BEST SURPRISE OF THE NIGHT…
A certain auburn-haired farrier, who claims she’s “too busy” for anything resembling fun, climbed into the saddle and reminded everyone exactly why she’s the boss.
A little rusty at first, sure—but by that final run?
Smooth, fast, and smiling like she forgot she had the weight of the world on her shoulders for a minute.
Funny how a good horse—and maybe the right pair of eyes watching—can do that.
WHICH brINGS ME TO…
Let’s just say some of us are very observant. And while I would never spread unfounded rumors (perish the thought), it has come to my attention that a certain cowboy and a certain birthday girl may have found themselves alone in a stable for longer than strictly necessary.
Now, did anything happen?
No one is talking.
Which, in this town, usually means something absolutely did.
Interrupted? Possibly. Unfinished business? Almost certainly.
I’ll be keeping my ear to the ground on that one.
IN OTHER NEWS…
There’s a whisper making its way from the ranch roads into town, and it involves apples. Lots of them.
Apparently, the Wylde orchard harvest this year isn’t just good—it’s turning heads. Ones that belong to people with distribution routes stretching from Billings to the Dakotas. Which begs the question…
Who exactly helped make that connection?
And more importantly…
Who might make a “business trip” down to Billings sometime soon to deliver said apples?
Now, I’m no expert, but when a rugged cowboy offers to drive a truckload of apples across county lines and casually suggests catching a hockey game while you’re at it… well.
That doesn’t sound like strictly business to me.
But what do I know?
COMING UP NEXT…
Cowboy Night is still riding strong at the Sapphire Saloon, but there’s only one night left on the schedule. Don’t miss it or miss your chance to meet someone special—just in time to keep warm together over the winter.
And let’s not forget the upcoming barn dance out at the Off-Duty Rescue Ranch, held to support Sheriff Patrick’s re-election campaign. If you thought things got interesting at the rodeo, just wait until you put politics, music, and moonlight into the mix.
I suggest you all show up.
For community reasons, of course.
FINAL THOUGHT…
This sheriff’s election has this town wound tighter than a cinch strap, and I, for one, will be thrilled when it’s over and folks can get back to focusing on more important matters.
Like who’s kissing who. And who’s pretending they’re not.
Until next time, Forest Grove… Try to behave yourselves.
Or don’t.
I’ll be watching either way.
xoxo,
Gossip Gal
