Six So Long, Goodnight

P ulling into my driveway sucks. For the last couple of minutes, neither of us said much — do I invite him in, do we just leave it here? I’ve never been in this situation before. Usually I invite guys in so I can get laid. I already did that here.

Still, I’m not ready for him to leave, so when he comes over to help me out of the truck, I hold onto him. “Come inside for a bit.”

“Good thing that wasn’t a question.” He backs me against the passenger door the second it closes, stopping just shy of our lips touching. “I need to see all these fake plants and wax people you claim don’t exist.”

Screw it. I close the distance and kiss him, tangling my hand in his hair before pulling back. “They don’t exist, but I don’t mind proving it.”

“Mmhm.“ He slaps my ass with a pop that echoes around us, and then follows me to the door. When we reach it, Eris leans down as I’m attempting to unlock it and whispers, “Still feel me in your panties?”

Smirking, I let us in and spin to face him as I walk backward. “Panties, pussy, throat... yeah.”

“Fuck,” he whispers, adjusting himself unabashedly. “Good. Go pee after my tour.”

Immediately, his eyes start roaming my house, taking in the spacious living room and dining room we walked into. Dark green walls and all black furniture are accented only by fake plants, the occasional gothic art piece, and a giant tv I love to rot in front of. My dining room table is more like a bar, and my kitchen happens to be my favorite room in the house. The emerald green backsplash compliments the darker walls and the huge window over the sink lets in plenty of natural light. It’s cozy, functional, and sleek.

It’s also almost completely obscured by Halloween decorations right now.

We then backtrack through the main part of the house to get to the hallway, where the two empty bedrooms and newly remodeled bathroom seem to keep him occupied for a few minutes, but I know what he really wants to see.

My bedroom looks the same as the rest of my house sans the plants. All black bedding, dressers, nightstands, and gorgeous green walls. The only difference here is that a friend of mine painted the ceiling to look like the night sky.

I fucking love it.

I fall for it a little more when Eris spots it and I get to watch his eyes light up. “That’s fucking awesome.” He plops down on my bed to stare up at it, making such a pretty view it’s hard not to take a picture.

“Yeah, I like it. Makes it hard to fall asleep sometimes.”

When he opens his left arm up and pats his chest like he wants me to lay there, I hold up a finger and run to pee real quick. It’s awkward, but I get cleaned up as much as I can before returning and climbing in with him.

I’m surprised at how well we fit together.

I feel him as he inhales my hair, his arm closing around me in a way that feels like he isn’t going anywhere tonight. “Your house is nice. All that’s missing is a cat.”

“I’d love one, I just haven’t gotten there yet. Maybe I could just keep her upstairs.”

“Yeah, she’d be fine. So tell me about your worst date ever since we just had your best one.”

Cocky, but completely accurate. “I once went bowling with a guy on a first date. We played three games, and I beat him twice but he beat me by quite a bit the third time. He went back to the guy working behind the counter and asked him to add our scores up from all three games so he could prove he won overall, and then when we went to dinner, he called his mom while we were waiting for appetizers and told her he liked me well enough but I was a terrible bowler. He then tried to stick his tongue down my throat in his car and called me a cunt when I wouldn’t let him come home with me. ”

“Wow, that’s bad. I don’t know what I expected, but I can see why you hate Tinder. I’m glad you didn’t let him come home with you, I’m sure he would have just disappointed you in bed too.”

Or worse, but hey. We don’t need to go there right now.

“Yeah. I had a lot of dates like that. It became a lot easier to just skip the dating part, get what I need and move on with my life.”

“That’s fair.” He tugs my head back by my hair so he can meet my eyes. “Did I give you what you needed?”

Taking a deep breath, I answer honestly. “Yes, and you also gave me something I didn’t even know I wanted. So thank you.”

“You’re welcome. I didn’t know either, so we discovered it together. I didn’t hurt you, right?”

“You’re a little bigger than what I’m used to, but no, Eris.” I kiss him softly. “You didn’t hurt me. But it’s your turn to spill some secrets — why only fuckbuddies?”

Licking his lips, he leans in quickly to kiss me a little deeper. “I guess I’m lazy?” He chuckles. “If we get along and the sex is fine, why not hookup again? There was one that was so bad, I almost didn’t respond when she reached out again, but I figured I’d give her another shot in case it was an off day. It was just as bad that time too, so I guess I’ve had a two night stand if that counts for anything. As for a relationship, I just haven’t clicked with someone on that level yet.”

We click pretty well, but I choose not to point that out. He’s hot, fun, and the sex is fantastic, it just doesn’t change the fact that I’m a twenty-one year old with her own house and business and that doesn’t come easily. I need to stay focused if I want to keep what I have, and men complicate that.

“I understand.” Sitting up, I glance back down at him and decide it’s better to pull the plug now than to let either of us get too comfortable. “I had a really good time tonight, Eris. Maybe one day I’ll call you for a repeat so we don’t break your streak.”

“Maybe, huh?” He sits up too, then pushes me onto my back so he can loom over me. “How about you let me tuck you into bed and we worry about date number two later on? Date number one doesn’t have to be over. ”

Shit. I want to tell him to leave, but I know myself. The moment he walks out that door, I’ll never talk to him again. I’ll find excuses, block his number, ignore him. It’s just who I am. “If you’re tucking me into bed, that sounds like the end.”

“Well, it won’t be.” There’s so much promise in his words my brain struggles to follow the meaning. “I’m not done with you, but you need a nap after what we just did. Say yes.”

I open my mouth to say no, but why? I want this. He wants this. A few more hours won’t hurt, right? “Yes.”

Smirking, he pulls himself away to start undressing me, eyes scanning every inch of me he exposes. “What do you usually sleep in?”

“Panties and a tank top unless it’s cold in here, but it seems pretty warm right now.” Licking my lips, I move with him until I’m completely naked and laugh as he starts going through my drawers. “Top one.”

He picks a pair of purple booty shorts and a white tank top that’s a size too small. I let him dress me, then watch him as he begins to strip down to his briefs. As he folds everything up, I catch a brief peak of the only tattoo on his body. I’m pretty sure it’s a grayscale three-headed dragon that takes up most of his back, but it’s hard to tell before he clicks off the lights and climbs in.

It’s weird as hell having a man in my bed I don’t think I’ll be fucking right away. Almost... intimate. “And now we nap, huh?”

“Yup. That wasn’t a euphemism, believe it or not.” He kisses my head and settles onto his back. “We’ll see how long I last though.”

“Last? What do you mean?”

Slowly, he reaches for my hand and then presses it down on his hard cock. “Get some sleep, Rowyn. You’ll need it.”

My stomach flips wildly, but I can’t say I’m disappointed at all. This man could do whatever the hell he wanted to me and I’d say thank you after — so for now, I kiss him slowly, teasingly, then close my eyes with a soft hum.

“Mmhm. Goodnight, Eris. I guess I’ll see you when you can’t take it anymore.”

And hopefully for me, that’s sooner rather than later.
