Chapter 21 #2

I took the phone and pressed it to my ear after I hit accept, “Yeah?”

“Did I wake you?” she asked.

I yawned, “Yeah, but what’s up?”

She snickered, “Umm, you know we have to be at work in an hour. Right?”

My eyes shot wide, then I sat up, which caused Alexander to shift.

I looked at the clock and yelped, “Shit.”

She snickered, “Late night with Mr. Dark, I take it.”

I snorted. “No. But it’s the first night we’ve really slept together side by side since I was seventeen.”

I looked at Alexander, who smiled, “We’ve got the rest of our lives, baby.”

“I heard that. I need that. Find me someone.” Malinda sighed.

I snorted.

“But the reason I’m calling, I got a flat. Can you swing by and pick me up?” she asked.

I looked at Alexander and nodded, “Yeah, give me fifteen minutes, and I’ll be there.”

After we hung up, I kissed Alexander, then raced out of bed and got ready.

Once I was done, I stepped into the kitchen and froze.

Alexander was at my stove, turning two burners off.

Then he looked over his shoulder and smiled at me, “So this was quick: egg, bacon, cheese. Thankfully, you had some wraps in the fridge.”

I stood there and stared.

He lifted a brow as he wrapped two in tin foil, then handed me one that was in a paper towel, “What?”

“No one but Mom or Dad has ever cooked for me before,” I said.

His eyes went soft, “Well, can’t do a lot, but I’ll try to do it once a week. Just don’t complain too much when it’s the same meal over and over.”

I snickered, “Alright.”

Then we headed to the Tahoe hand in hand.

However, in the elevator, the doors opened to the second floor. I held in a sigh at who walked through. I tightened my hold on Alexander’s hand.

He looked at me and lifted a brow. I shook my head.

Then the man had to open his mouth, “So, that’s why you wouldn’t go out for coffee with me?”

Alexander’s frame went tense.

I ignored him.

Alexander didn’t.

He glared, then asked, “How many times did you ask her out?”

George shrugged, “A few times.”

I snorted, then I blanched.

Alexander looked down at me, “How many times?”

I sighed, “About ten.”

He nodded, then he looked at George, “Sounds like stalking to me. And my woman has one stalker. That’s me. So, how about you move out of this apartment building? Forget her face. Forget her name, before I make you.”

George snorted. “Right.”

Alexander grinned, “Oh, this is going to be fun.”

Then, with his free hand, he pulled out his phone and asked George, “What’s your name?”

“Go fuck yourself,” George said.

I looked up at Alexander when I felt his eyes on me and shared, “George Alpin.”

He winked, “Thank you, baby.”

Then I watched as he texted Clip George’s name and asked him to pick him up.

He smirked.

George speed-walked away from us as we exited the apartment building. I giggled.

We stopped on the way and picked up Malinda.

Her eyes were wide as she climbed into the backseat and lifted her brows.

I snorted, “He’s overprotective.”

Then he snorted, “You fucking like it.”

I hummed.

He chuckled.

She tried to talk to Alexander, but he just looked at me and sighed.

I giggled.

Then, as I stopped outside the clubhouse, he reached over, wrapped his hand around the back of my neck, pulled me to him, and kissed me stupid.

“Later, Star Shine.”

I smiled, “Later.”

He climbed out as Malinda climbed out and got in the front seat. Then she was fanning herself.

I burst out laughing as I drove us to work.

Then I shared, “Don’t take offense to him not talking to you; that’s just how he is.”

She nodded, “I get it. I really do. And now I definitely want more of a dark man.”

I snickered.

When we got to work, it was a shit show.

I looked at Malinda; she grinned Then we both clocked in and got to work.

It was hours later before I could take a bathroom break and check my phone.

I frowned at the name in my texts.

Then I burst out laughing.

It was just like him to go behind my back and change his name in my phone. Again.

Her Dark.

I giggled.

Her Dark – Let me know what you want for lunch. I’ll bring it.

Me – Really? Her Dark?

Her Dark – Well... gotta get you back to make it something different. But for now... yeah.

Me – And what would it be changed to?

Her Dark – My Hubby.

I stared.

Her Dark – You're speechless. Aren’t you?

I pressed dial on his name.

He was chuckling as he answered the phone, “How’d I know this call was coming?”

“Really? My hubby?” I whispered.

“Yeah, Star Shine. You're my endgame. Been that way since you stole my heart,” he said.

I swallowed, “Alexander.”

“I know. Got my work cut out for me. But we’ll get there. Swear to Christ we’ll get there.”

I sighed, “Okay. What’s my name in your phone?”

He chuckled, “Star Shine.”

“Of course it is,” I said.

He chuckled again, “What do you want for lunch?”

I thought about it, “Chinese. Please.”

“Tastes still the same?” he asked.

“You remember?” I asked.

“Star Shine. Remember everything about you. Be there around two,” he said.

“Okay. Be careful.”

“Always,” he answered.

Then I got back to work.

At precisely two, one of the nurses came and found me and said, “Tall, dark, and handsome is waiting for you at the front desk.”

I grinned, “Thank you.”

As I walked to the front desk, I could hear the girls whispering.

“Who does he belong to?”

“Think I can have him?”

“Does he have a twin?”

I leaned in and whispered with a smile on my face, “Try to take him from her, and she’ll gut you.”

I walked by them and walked right to him.

Those mossy-colored eyes were on me the entire time, and when I reached him, he wrapped his hand around the back of my neck, bent his head, and pressed a kiss to my lips.

“Shit,” I heard multiple girls say.

I smiled against his lips, then he asked, “What’d you tell them?”

I lifted a brow, “You really want to know?”

He nodded.

“Told them that if they try to take him from her, she’ll gut them.”

He smiled, and then he burst into laughter, “I’ll bury the bodies for you, Star Shine.”

I knew he would.
