Chapter 27
Storm
I glared at the blood that stained my hands.
Then I looked at Creedence, who was covered in his blood.
I winced when the medical staff tried to approach her, and she screeched at them.
Red
I watched as they tried to calm Creedence down, but she was having none of it.
Cason
I dropped my head as I had one thought.
I’d been right there.
If I had dove in front of Creedence, then Ripper wouldn’t have raced to her side, and he wouldn’t have been shot as many times as he was.
Tank
If Creedence hadn’t earned our respect before now... well, she just got it.
In spades.
“He’s mine. His blood is mine. It’s not coming off until he comes back to me,” she growled.
Gravel
I started to move toward them to help, but Garret was already moving in.
I’ve never loved anyone like Ripper loves her.
And I’ve never seen a woman so devoted to a man before.
Damn... but that must be something.
Garret
I knelt in front of my daughter, who growled at me, “Don’t.”
I sighed, “Princess, you need to get cleaned up.”
She glared at me.
Valerie
I walked over and placed my hand on Garret’s shoulder and whispered, “Leave her alone. She’s stubborn like you. Place yourself in her shoes if it were me.”
Connor
I thought he was a serious dumb fuck for wanting updates on my sister.
But after I watched him race across the forecourt toward her with one thought on his mind... I changed my opinion.
I hope one day, I grow up to be a man like him.
Hippie
I stared at the doors and waited for news.
Porter
I didn’t know Creedence well... but I knew our boy.
And I respected the hell out of him.
Even more so now.
Clip
I stomped over to them, carefully shoulder-checked Valerie out of my way, and then got in front of Garret and crossed my arms over my chest.
“Next person who comes near her has to go through me.”
Cotton
I told the brothers what happened and then we all loaded up.
York
I walked into the hospital five hours later with Marley in my arms.
Caristiona came through the doors on Ivan’s arm with DeLuca and his wife, Ariel. Then Luka entered with his wife, Lyndsey.
DeLuca walked over to Cotton and growled. “Who?”
Cotton looked at Storm and lifted his chin.
Cooper
I walked into the hospital with Miriam, and then we headed to Connor, who had tears in his eyes while he stared at Creedence.
Xavier
I walked into the hospital and made a beeline to Valerie and wrapped her in my arms.
Phoebe followed and wrapped Garret in her arms.
Walker
I looked at the doors, and with Sydney in my arms, we waited.
Knox
I looked at Clip, who was posted in front of Creedence.
I knew that it was Ripper’s blood she was covered in.
I looked down at Fiona, who winked and then said, “Go. I know what you want to do. I’ll be okay.”
I kissed her deeply, then stalked over to Clip, who narrowed his eyes at me, and then I stepped around him and wrapped my arm around Creedence’s shoulders.
Her eyes came to mine, and then she burst into tears.
I picked her up and gathered her in my arms.
Then I held on tight.
Storm
Fifteen hours later, two doctors had stepped in and a shift change, but they were still working on him.
No one had left.
Even the Alabama Chapter of Wrath MC made the drive.
Shared with us shit they heard.
They’d been on their way.
Then DeLuca got word of what was shared, looked at Ariel, and kissed her.
Ivan kissed Caristiona.
Luka kissed Lyndsey.
Then DeLuca looked at Garret and said four words, “It will be handled.”
Then the three of them left with a murderous glint in their eyes.
I smiled.
Then, one doctor stepped out, took in our group, and then he looked at Creedence, who was still curled in Knox’s lap.
Blood still covered every inch of her.
He walked over to her as Knox gently shook her awake.
She looked up at him, then at the doctor, and straightened.
Everything quieted down, then he asked, “Are you his Star Shine?”
She bit her lip and nodded.
He smiled, but I recognized that look.
“Fuck,” I whispered as Lena wrapped her arms around my waist.
The doctor opened his mouth and said, “I’m sorry. We did everything we could.”
