Hippie
I sat at my computer and worked on the keys.
I was a gamer.
And my world didn’t start unless I played this game.
With her.
“Go right,” I told Mae.
She went right.
“Go left,” Mae said.
I went left.
Then we took out the warriors.
I high-fived her.
Once we cleared the level, I asked, “Where are you headed now?”
Maggie
“The Western Cascades,” I told him.
Gah, I was so excited for this trip.
“Never been,” he said.
“Want to go with me, Usurper?” I asked.
He chuckled, and man, but I loved his chuckle.
He sounded like he smoked a carton a day.
That rasp.
It was my kryptonite.
“Honestly, if I could, I would,” he said.
And in the way he said that, I knew that he meant it.
He was the first person to ever prove to me that they mean what they say.
That was why he was my favorite person on this planet even though we have never met.
And I knew he felt the same way about me.
However, there was nowhere to go beyond this.
Because I wasn’t good enough for a man like him.
Hippie
I looked at the file on my desk that I had on her.
Maggie Mae. Age 22. Blonde hair. Blue eyes. Perfect hourglass figure with the perfect amount of curves.
And I had one thought... I just might rearrange my shit and meet her in the Cascades to make sure whoever thought it would be a good idea to make a move on her saw that she was indeed claimed.
By me.
