Chapter Thirty-Three

The Fire Starter

The Innermost I feel our love when I suffer.

I welcome the ache now and understand what you meant when you told me about your brand now.

I seek a physical release for that pain.

All I have left is the searing brand you’ve left on my soul.

And here I am, speaking of my own sadness when you have had your freedom taken from you! I am so sorry that you ever met me, Tommy. In each other, we found a love that set us free, but it cost you everything. Is there no mercy in this life?

I dream of a world where we can write our own story, my sweet. Surely, there must be a version of us somewhere. In my mind, I pen the chapters of the novel with our names on it. In my heart, lives the book we wrote together.

Tommy & Maddy: The Pleasure & the Pain.

At first, I hated that you consumed my quiet moments, but then I realized what follows after life, and that brings me comfort now, my love. I understand that this lifetime is not ours, but I hold out hope for the life after this and the one after that.

For in the end, there is silence. That is where you are. In the quiet, we will find each other again. In death, we will have our eternity.

For now, the pain.

Forever, my love.

In blood,

Maddy
