Chapter 29
“You okay?” Ishmia asked.
It was early the morning of Ishmia’s private multi-million-dollar show. We were in bed although I was finding it increasingly difficult to sleep. My mind was just so full. Clearly, I was closely related to Taneisha, and it was likely that I was her sister’s child, but did I believe everything she told me?
No.
It just didn’t make sense to me, and I was so hung up on that; I could think of little else.
“Not really, but I don’t want you worrying about it,” I answered her.
“Too late. I’m hella worried. That was a lot of information dumped on you,” she said.
“Yeah, but it’s been, what, a week since I talked to Taneisha? It feels a little less overwhelming to me now.”
“Really?”
I sighed. “Shit, I don’t know.”
She lifted her head from my chest, looking me in the eye. “Are you going to talk to her again?”
“Eventually, I will. Just not now. Hey, how are you feeling? You ready for this show?”
She grinned. “Now, come on. You know I stay ready. No game tonight, so you’re coming, right?”
“You know it.”
