32. Chapter Thirty-One
Chapter Thirty-One
Trix
Peeking my eyes open, I look around the dimly lit bedroom, listening to the sound of my phone vibrating in the drawer beside me, most likely the first of many alarms I set every morning.
Yawning, I attempt to stretch out my limbs, but Reeve's arms band tightly around me as soon as I move, burying my body deeper into his hold.
My breath catches in my throat at the feel of his hard length digging into my back, and a lazy smile spreads across my face.
My plan for last night was a success.
His reaction was priceless when he walked into the room, and although he tried to hide the fact that he was turned on by me, I could very clearly see the outline of his hard dick when he walked past me and locked himself in the bathroom.
If I wasn't so tired when he finally crawled into bed, I probably would've been rubbing my ass against it all night, but I was exhausted, and as soon as his body was wrapped around mine, sleep quickly overtook me.
The vibrating stops, and I sigh, but a couple of minutes later, it starts up again. I groan, twist my body around and burrow my head against Reeve's naked chest.
His hands splay across my back, fingers running smoothly over the material of my night dress, which makes goosebumps spread across my skin.
Lifting my head, I glance at him, tracing his features.
I can't stop myself from reaching for his face, brushing my fingers against the bristles of his beard while my eyes move from his smooth lips, to the slope of his narrow nose, and up to where his eyelashes are almost brushing against the tops of his cheeks.
He looks so peaceful.
His lips aren't twisted into a scowl and the lines on his forehead—which seem to be permanently engraved there from how often he frowns—are smoothed out.
"What are you doing?" he asks, making me jump in his hold.
His eyes remain closed, but his lips lift into a smirk, and his hands move across my back as he tightens his arms around me, pulling me closer.
"I was just enjoying the view," I tell him quietly.
He cracks his eyes open, staring down at me.
We remain like that for a few minutes, watching each other in silence, while my fingers gently stroke his jaw, and his caresses my lower back.
The sound of my phone buzzing again echoes through the room, and Reeve's eyes flutter closed as he sighs.
"We should probably get up."
Slipping my hand from his face to his shoulder, I shake my head.
"Let's just stay here for another minute or two."
He opens his eyes again, brows raised as he hums.
"Are you indirectly admitting that you like cuddling with me, Red?"
Huffing out a laugh, I shrug.
"I do, yeah." My fingers move to play with the ends of his hair at the nape of his neck.
"I feel safe when I'm here with you. All the noise inside my head goes quiet, and I can actually allow myself to relax, instead of being on edge, waiting for something bad to happen.
I trust you, and I can let my guard down with you, because I know you'll protect me. "
He takes a deep breath, his chest brushing mine.
"You'll always be safe with me, Trix."
Dipping his head, his nose gently bumps mine, and his hand skates up the length of my back until his fingers twine themselves into my hair.
His hooded eyes meet mine as he leans closer, our breath mingling together, and I slowly close the space between us, pressing my lips against his.
Applying pressure to the back of my head, he deepens the kiss, lips stroking mine.
Threading my fingers through his hair, I open my mouth, allowing his tongue to sweep inside.
Heat consumes me, fire burning through my veins as he pushes me onto my back, hovering over me as the kiss turns hungry and desperate.
Pounding on the door breaks us apart, and Milo's voice splinters the moment.
"Reeve! Come on, man."
Reeve huffs, resting his head against mine.
"For fuck's sake."
Chuckling at his annoyed tone, I push at his chest until he lets up, rolling over onto his back with a groan.
Milo bangs on the door again, loud enough for me to hear it over the thumping of my heart.
"Reeve!"
"Give me a minute!" he shouts back. He shakes his head, then gets out of bed.
I stare up at the ceiling, dragging my bottom lip into my mouth as I replay the feeling of his lips against mine over and over.
It may have been short-lived and rudely interrupted, but I'm positive that was the most intense kiss I've ever experienced, and although I know I shouldn't, I can't help myself from wanting it to happen again.
Pulling off his sweats, he plucks a pair of folded jeans from his chest of drawers, sliding them over his muscular legs while huffing and puffing, and cursing Milo under his breath.
Moving to the wardrobe, he pulls out a white T-shirt, then stomps back to the bed with it in his hands.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, he bends down to put his socks on, and my eyes travel to his back, staring at the ink covering his skin.
Unfortunately, he puts his top on soon after, covering the skull from view, but then he tosses his leather cut on, sliding his arms through the holes, and I find myself staring at it again.
He walks to me, opens the drawer at my side and takes his phone out, then his eyes meet mine.
"I've got a busy day today with the guys," he says, as he unlocks his phone and hands it to me. "Add your number and text yourself, then you'll have a way to contact me if you need to, okay?"
Smiling, I take his phone and add my number before handing it back.
"I'll see you later," he says. Pocketing his phone, he bends down and presses a kiss against my head before he strides to the door, grabs his boots, then leaves the room.
Sighing, I sink back into the mattress beneath me as butterflies in my stomach flutter around.
Reeve's stirring up feelings I've never felt before, and I never thought I'd feel in my life. Although it's scary as hell, it also has me giddy.
Groaning, I rub my hands over my face.
I'm so fucked.
Today has moved at a snail's pace.
I'm not sure whether that's because I've been desperate for night to come so I can jump back into bed with Reeve again, or because hardly anyone is around for me to talk to.
Plus, I haven't seen Reeve since this morning.
According to Slate, Reeve, Milo, and Mouse have been cooped up in Ghost's room all day, dealing with club business.
Unfortunately for me, the prospects have been here all day, and without Luxe to ward them off, I've been running around the clubhouse in an attempt to avoid them and their flirtatious comments.
Munch and Dodger were here earlier, but they always keep to themselves, only bothering me when they need a drink or some snacks.
Slate's been out back working on Cruz's bike, and up until half an hour ago, Cruz was glued to the leather bench of one of the booths, grumbling at his phone.
Although everyone's been busy, I've kept myself entertained by cleaning every inch of the clubhouse while listening to my music on the speakers.
Slate's the only one left in the bar now, everyone else having either ridden home or gone to bed, considering it's late in the evening.
Wiping down the bar, I sigh as I glance out the window.
"Do you have any idea where he is?" I ask, dragging the rag across the wooden surface.
Slate cocks a brow.
"Reeve?"
I nod, and he shakes his head.
"I know he left a couple of hours ago with Milo and Mouse, but I didn't speak to them. I'm sure Prez would know if you wanted to go ask."
My shoulders droop.
"No, it's okay. If it's club business, I doubt Callux would tell me anything anyway."
He shrugs, tipping his head back as he guzzles the rest of his beer.
As he places it on the bar, the sound of motorcycle engines reverberates through the room. Slate glances over his shoulder toward the doors, then turns back to me.
"I think that's your man pulling up now," he says, standing from his stool with a smile. "Catch you later, Trixie."
Rolling my eyes at the stupid nickname they all seem to use now, I put the cloth down and walk out from behind the bar as the revving grows louder.
Crossing the room, I peek out of the window, watching as Reeve, Milo and Mouse cruise up the road, rolling their bikes over to the shelter.
Not wanting to be caught looking at them, I rush away and reach over the bar for the damp cloth again. Quickly hopping over to one of the tables, the double doors open and all three men walk inside.
Slowly moving my gaze from my hands, I peer up at them.
Milo dips his head in acknowledgement, then heads for the stairs, meanwhile, Mouse stands there staring at me, a tortured look marring his face.
His eyes meet mine for a split second before darting away.
My stomach twists, and a sharp pain shoots across my chest as I watch him walk away.
He's been avoiding me for what feels like forever, and I hate it.
I enjoyed his company here, and I cherished the friendship we were building, but now, it feels like all of that has disappeared, and I have no idea why.
My eyes move to Reeve, who's already watching me, lips pressed into a thin line, and brows drawn down.
Leaving the cloth on the table, I slowly walk toward him, eyes flicking back and forth between his.
"Are you okay?"
He exhales, jaw rippling beneath his dark, neatly trimmed beard.
"I've got something for you," he says as he pulls his phone from his back pocket.
Frowning, I glance between him and the device in his hands.
Unlocking his phone, he hands it to me. A gasp escapes when I see the image of my ex's beaten, bloody, and bruised face on the screen with a white triangular play button in the middle.
Closing my fingers around the phone, I stare at it for a few moments, then look at Reeve.
"What did you do?" I ask softly.
"Watch the video, Red."
Eyes darting back to the phone, I move to one of the small circular tables in front of the dartboard and lift myself onto one of the stools.
Reeve stands beside me and places his hand on my lower back, then leans down to press a kiss against my temple.
"You deserve some closure," he mutters, then presses play.
