38. Chapter Thirty-Seven
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Trix
Groaning, I stretch my body out, enjoying the slight pinch of pain running through my aching muscles from the multiple rounds last night.
Reeve's arms tighten around me as he pulls me closer to his warm, naked body. He nuzzles his head into the crook of my neck and presses a soft, gentle kiss against my sensitive skin.
"Morning, gorgeous."
Smiling, I turn around in his arms, then hook my leg over his waist and slide my arm around his back.
"Morning," I mumble, peeking my eyes open.
"How are you feeling?" he asks as he brushes a strand of hair away, while pinning me under his intense gaze.
Smoothing my hand over the corded muscles of his back, I press my lips against his.
"I'm feeling great," I tell him, laughing when he smirks. "A little sore in some places, but I'm not complaining."
Rolling me onto my back, he moves, hovering above me as his eyes coast over me.
"You look good enough to eat," he grumbles as he swoops down and captures my lips.
His tongue swirls with mine as he presses into me. His dick nestles between my thighs, sliding against the wetness already seeping out.
Wrapping my legs around his waist, I lift my hips, grinding against his hard length and moaning into his open mouth.
He nips at my lips as he tangles his fingers through my hair. My body vibrates, already consumed by pleasure.
Still sensitive from last night, I can already feel the tension building inside my stomach. My thighs tighten around him, anticipating what's quickly approaching.
He thrusts again, his dick relentlessly bumping against my clit, and it drives me crazy.
It doesn't take long for me to shatter beneath him. Gasping for air and digging my nails into his back, he continues moving, intensifying the ecstasy pulsating through my body while dragging out my orgasm.
A few seconds later, he loses his rhythm, hips bucking wildly as his teeth sink into the side of my neck and he follows me over the edge.
Releasing his hold on my skin, he places gentle kisses along the length of my neck, rubbing his hands down the side of my body as I lie beneath him, catching my breath.
"That was unexpected," he whispers against my breast, flicking his tongue against my pebbled nipple. I squeal in response.
"The best things are always unexpected," I tell him as I grasp his jaw between my hands and drag his face to mine, kissing him senseless.
My phone buzzing against the nightstand interrupts us, and I reach for it blindly, almost knocking it to the floor.
Glancing at the screen, we both huff when we see it's almost 11 a.m.
"We better get up," Reeve says, pressing multiple kisses over my bare chest before dragging himself out of bed.
Sighing, I unlock my phone, ignore the text from Wanda and swipe onto mine and Emery's text thread, telling her to let me know when Liam's coming over.
Reeve saunters into the bathroom, and moments later, I hear the spray of water against the tiled floor.
I quickly drop my phone onto the bed and follow after him in the hopes that we can squeeze in another round of fun before we have to get ready for the day.
"You want a ride to your friend's house?" Reeve asks, sliding his arms into the leather cut.
I shrug, running the brush through my hair while looking at him in the mirror.
"If you have time to take me there. If not, I can walk to the trailer park, then call a car."
He screws his face up and scoffs.
"There's no way in hell I'll be letting you do that."
Sighing, I twist my hair up and wrap the band around it, securing it at the top of my head before I spin around to face him.
"What exactly did my dad want when he came here?"
Reeve slides his hands into the back pocket of his jeans and releases a deep breath.
"He wanted money. Tried blackmailing me for it."
Frowning, I walk out of the bathroom and stop in front of him.
"What was he trying to use against you?"
He moves to the bed, sits on the edge, then tugs me until we're sat side by side. Interlocking our fingers together, he rubs his thumb over the top of my hand while his eyes search mine.
"A while ago, the club was having issues with this guy, Reggie Connell."
My eyes widen a fraction, and my fingers tighten around his.
"The drug dealer my father used to work for and steal from?"
He nods. "I didn't know that until he showed up here.
Anyway, Reggie had a shipment from us, and he didn't pay when he was supposed to.
So, Prez sent me and Milo to his garage.
It wasn't the first time he hadn't paid us on time—he was known for always making excuses and never following through.
I knew when we went there he likely wasn't going to be able to pay us. "
"What happens when you can't pay?" I ask.
His brows crease, and his eyes drop away from mine.
"We have rules. Everyone who does business with us knows that. And if people break them, then that creates conflict—"
"And you're the one who deals with the conflict," I add, remembering what Luxe told me when I first started working here.
"Yeah." He clears his throat, wary eyes moving back up to mine. "Your father claims he was at the garage when we went there. Says he has video evidence of us—"
I cover his mouth with my hand, shaking my head.
"I don't want to know," I tell him. "I get the gist, and I can put the pieces together for myself, but I don't need or want you to tell me anymore.
That's a part of your work, and your life that doesn't involve me.
It's also something people could use against us, so I think it's best that I'm left in the dark when it comes to all of that. "
The corners of his lips rise, then he leans forward and kisses me on the cheek.
"Okay."
Cupping his jaw, I smooth my fingers over his bristly beard, then press our foreheads together.
"You didn't give him any money, did you?"
He shakes his head.
"Of course not."
"Are you not worried about what he'll do with the video?"
He chuckles, shaking his head again.
"Not at all. I highly doubt there is a video, and if there is, then Ghost will make it disappear." He kisses me softly. "There's nothing to worry about, Red. I'm not going anywhere."
"I hope not."
Swinging my leg over his lap, I straddle him, but before I can get comfy, he stands up and sets my feet on the ground.
"As much as I'd love for you to ride me right now, how about we ride my bike instead so you can go see my brother and Emery?"
Jaw hanging open, I stare at him in shock.
"Your bike? We're going on your bike?"
He nods, then flicks the end of my nose with his finger.
"Yeah. I need to get back here before the rest of the guys do, so we might as well take my bike. Plus, I selfishly want you wrapped around me for a little while longer."
Grabbing his boots in one hand and mine in the other, he walks out of his bedroom, leaving me behind, still watching him with a slack jaw.
The thought of getting on the back of his bike is both exciting and terrifying.
"Come on, Red," he shouts, which kicks me into gear and forces me to move.
I hold on tightly as Reeve weaves in and out of traffic. My fingers dig into the muscles of his stomach beneath his shirt, feeling them ripple with every move he makes.
When we reach Emery's apartment, I rest my head on his back, flattening my palms against his chest.
Although I can't wait to get off this bike because my heart is thumping like crazy and my muscles are aching from being locked up, I also don't want to let go, enjoying the warmth and closeness.
We roll to a stop, and he uses his foot to kick down the stand before tapping my leg.
Swinging myself off the bike, I stumble slightly, grabbing hold of his arm to keep me steady.
He chuckles. "You'll get used to it eventually."
Taking the cap off his head, he runs his fingers through his hair and glances around the parking lot.
Smoothing my hands over my wild hair, I take a deep breath when I see Liam's car a few feet away in one of the visitor spaces.
"I better get this over and done with."
"You sure you don't want me to stay?" he asks.
I shake my head. "No, I'll be fine. You go and help the others when they get back. I'll call you when I'm ready to leave here, and then you can come pick me up."
Pressing a chaste kiss against his lips, I twist around and move toward Emery's building.
Buzzing the intercom, Emery lets me up, her cheerful voice filtering through the static speaker by the door as I pass through it and head for the stairwell.
Climbing up two sets of steps, I meander down the hallway until I reach her apartment. Before I can knock on the door, it swings open, and Liam's standing on the other side with a bright smile.
My stomach twists at the sight.
"Hello, stranger."
He pulls me into a hug. I sigh and wrap my arms around him, basking in the comfort of my best friend, hoping he doesn't hate me when I tell him about me and Reeve.
"Hey," I mutter against his chest, then rub my hand over his short hair.
He pushes away, feigning a frown as he tries to sort out the non-existent mess I made.
Walking into Emery's apartment, I flop down on the sofa beside the blonde who's currently stuffing chips into her mouth.
"If you can't tell, he's in a good mood," she grumbles, shooting daggers at Liam as he prances into the room.
"I have a whole two weeks off from studying," he explains, pushing my legs off the seat beside me so he can squish himself between us. "School has been kicking my ass lately."
"Same," Emery murmurs, dramatically dropping her head onto the back of the sofa.
Liam stretches his arms out, then circles them around our shoulders as he pulls us into his sides.
"Enough about school. This is the first time we've been together in what feels like forever, let's enjoy it and not talk about things stressing us out."
Emery side-eyes me cautiously, raising her brows and silently asking me when I'm going to bring up the elephant in the room.
Thinking it's best to rip the Band-Aid off, I sit up straight and twist my body toward Liam.
"I think I'm dating your brother," I blurt out, then roll my lips together as I stare at him with wide eyes. My heart pounds inside my chest, and my hands grow sweaty as I wait for my words to sink in.
His gaze slowly moves toward me. Creases form along his forehead for a few moments before they smooth out. Then his eyes widen, and he laughs.
Cackling, he slaps his hands against his thigh.
It takes him a good couple of minutes to calm down, and when he realizes me and Emery aren't laughing with him, his expression turns somber.
Eyes darting back and forth between us, he gulps.
"Wait, you're serious?" he asks, pinning me beneath his gaze.
I nod, teeth sinking into the soft flesh inside my mouth.
"I swear, I didn't mean for it to happen."
"How?"
Looking down at the floor, I shift in my seat, rubbing my palms against my legs.
"Well, I moved into the clubhouse last week. More specifically, I moved into Reeve's room. But if I'm being honest, there was something between us before that. For me, it started within the first couple of days I was working there."
Silence engulfs the room.
I slowly drag my gaze up from the floor, eyes connecting with Liam's.
A deep frown mars his face, and his lips pull into a thin line.
"My brother let you move into his room?"
I nod, confused as to why that's the first question he asks, and I'm even more bewildered when his lips twitch, a smile breaking free.
"You're happy about that?"
Chuckling, he wraps his arm around my shoulder again, tucking me against his chest.
"I'm over the fucking moon."
"Okay, I'm confused," Emery says. "I thought you'd be annoyed. Why the hell are you so happy your brother's dating our best friend?"
Liam grins. "Because I thought Reeve would forever be lost to the darkness in this world, having given up on finding or believing in happiness.
Clearly, Trix has changed his perception when it comes to that, otherwise, he wouldn't have moved you into his space.
That means it's possible there's still parts of the Reeve I remember from when I was a kid inside of the grumpy, toughened version he's become. "
Resting my head on Liam's shoulder, I sigh.
"I can assure you that although he's trouble, and he doesn't live the most ideal life, he's still a soft and caring person on the inside who has a lot of love for the people in his life."
"I'm glad someone else gets to see that side of him too." Liam squeezes me against him. "As long as you're happy, and you're both treating each other right, then I have no issue with the two of you being together."
"Aww, you have Liam's approval," Emery coos.
As Liam and I both laugh, I grab the pillow from behind me and chuck it at her head.
"Why did you move into the clubhouse though?"
Sighing, I spend the next thirty minutes explaining what happened with my dad.
Neither are happy I didn't contact them, but I think they understand my reasoning, and they're glad I had Reeve, Mouse, and the rest of the Steel Devils to help me through it all.
For the next few hours, we sit on the couch, consuming an alarming amount of caffeine and junk food while Emery forces us to watch the show she's currently obsessed with, pausing it every two minutes to explain a character's backstory.
Evening approaches fast, windows now cast in shadows. I yawn, rubbing at my blurry eyes from staring at the TV for too long, then drag myself from the sofa and stretch out my limbs.
"I should get going. I have to work tomorrow since all the guys are back."
"And I bet you're missing your man," Emery teases, which only makes Liam grimace and elbow her in the ribs.
"I may be okay with it, but it's still going to take me some getting used to." I lean down to hug them goodbye, then put my shoes on. "Do you want me to drive you?"
I shake my head. "No, it's okay. I'm going to call your brother and get him to pick me up."
After telling me to be safe, they both go back to the show they're watching, as I quietly make my way out of Emery's apartment, and call Reeve.
He answers before I even make it to the stairwell.
"Are you leaving now?"
Giggling, I roll my eyes, even though he can't see me.
"Hello, to you too, Mr Impatient." He huffs through the phone. "To answer your question, yes, I am leaving. Want to come and get me?"
"Putting my shoes on now," he says with no hesitation whatsoever.
Reaching the bottom of the steps, I press the green button on the wall that unlocks the main building door.
Balancing my phone between my ear and my shoulder, I push the door open, then button up my jacket to protect myself from the freezing wind.
"It's cold out," I tell him as I glance around the empty parking lot. "Should I start walking toward you?"
"No, you stay put," he grumbles, shuffling around on the other end. "I'll bring the car, too."
Silently celebrating, I move toward the bench at the side of the building, but a voice I know all too well halts me in my tracks.
Spinning around, I come face to face with my father's bloodshot eyes.
