When the plane touched down in New York, he hadn’t changed his mind.

When he carried me over the threshold of my apartment, no Mrs. Wattlesbrook lurked in the shadows.

While he was in my shower, I picked my Pride and Prejudice DVDs out of my neglected and yet miraculously still-living houseplant.

(Maybe the problem had been overwatering?) I dusted off the jacket, booped the photo of Colin Firth on the nose, and placed the case on my bookshelf, face out and proud.
