Chapter 33

Zayd

“Layla,” I whisper in her ear when she arches her back to give my cock a better angle as I ride her from behind. “Sutton is awake. I just saw him in the corridor. He was watching us, then left.”

“Oh, shit. Really?” Her body freezes. “Did he look mad?”

“No. He looked exhausted.” I continue to pump gently inside of her.

Our omega feels so fucking good, hugging my cock in her sweet little cunt.

I have to admit, I have not felt all that bad about the time Layla and I have spent together while Sutton has been ill.

He knows everything and has not protested or asked us to stop.

So, I do not feel bad for having been discovered and do not feel the need to stop.

“Should I go check on him?” Layla gasps and flattens her chest on the table when I reach around and finger her clit.

“After you come.”

“Okay.” Layla pants and rides my fingers and cock as she races to her finish.

In seconds, her body shudders, and her pussy clamps down on me as she comes. I will myself not to finish, to avoid knotting her and delaying her any further from finding her husband.

“I’ll be right back,” she says, breathlessly as she finds her balance before stumbling out of the galley and down the corridor.

This is the way it is meant to be. An alpha satisfying his omega to the point she cannot even walk straight. My chest blooms with pride at having successfully done so.

Then it shrinks again when I remember that I may never successfully claim her.

“Found him,” Layla says cheerfully as she escorts Sutton into the galley, freshly laundered. “He’s hungry. Feed him.”

“Yes, omega.” I make my way to the replicator and call up a fine plate of rare steak, baked potato, and green beans. Sutton’s favorite.

“Is this why you did not join us? Too weak from hunger?” I ask him, letting him know he did not go unnoticed.

“Unfortunately. But it looked like you had a good handle on things without me.” It is good not to hear any resentment in his voice.

“You’re not mad?” Layla asks. “I mean, hearing about it is one thing, but seeing…”

“I like to watch, Layla.” Sutton inclines his head, as if to tell her she should know this by now.

“Yeah. I know.” Layla shrugs. “This is all still so new to me. It might take me a little longer to get used to it.”

“You mean, get used to me not getting angry and throwing a fit?” Sutton teases.

Layla blushes crimson. “I don’t want to think that way. I know that’s behind us.”

Sutton’s tone turns more serious. “I caused you a horrible pain, Layla. I understand that it will take time to heal it.”

It is that level of care that makes me believe Sutton is an alpha.

His past actions may not have played out to prove the same result, but it is as if his designation has taken time to develop rather than just being with him from birth.

Throkyn alphas are born alphas. Omegas are born omegas, but their designation is not realized until they come into contact with an alpha after they are of age.

Perhaps whatever Sutton’s designation is, it was partially developed before he spent enough time with an alpha, and after enough time, he will fully come into his designation.

“We just need more time,” I say, and they both look at me, confused. “I am sorry. I just brought you in on the middle of a conversation. I think Layla was right. You have changed, Sutton. And still are. I think once you have fully come into your designation, everything will become clear.”

“Do you think that’s why we can’t bond yet? Because Sutton isn’t done cooking?” Layla giggles.

“It is only a guess. But it makes as much sense as anything,” I say.

“My scent was weak before we met you,” Sutton says.

“And when I came back to the Center, it wasn’t much better.

But after we shared Layla, it got crazy strong.

My ability to detect scent improved, too.

I’m also far more easily aroused.” Sutton nods as his eyes dart, searching his memory. “Yeah. I think you’re right.”

“We still cannot be sure this has anything to do with our ability to bond,” I say, keeping us rooted in reality.

“But we can hope,” Layla says, and I love her for it.

I offer that love to her in my smile. “Yes, little one. Now, let us sit in silence for a spell and allow Sutton to eat his first meal in days in peace.”

“Yes. Eat,” Layla says, and we all sit quietly amongst the stars with hope in our hearts.
