Chapter Six

Axel

What the hell was he thinking snapping at Sophia like that? He needed to get his head on straight before he did something really stupid.

Hell, he almost did when she was raging at him. He'd been so turned on by her anger that he'd had to fight the urge to pin her against the wall and kiss her senseless. Yeah. That would have been really stupid. Even now, two days later, just thinking about it gave him a semi.

He did not need to be sporting a chub at work. He was working on inventory at the moment, so at least he wasn't preparing to ink anyone.

“Yo, earth to Axel.”

Ripper's voice pulled him from his thoughts. “Sorry. What?”

“I asked how inventory was coming.”

“Oh. We need to order some more black and shaders, but everything else is fine.”

“You are all up in your head, brother. Something tells me it's got something to do with Sophia.”

Axel grunted in response. He should have known Ripper wasn't going to leave it alone.

“What's happened now? Don't even try to pretend you're not all bound up.”

He stopped what he was doing and turned to the other man. “She's working at Indi's club as a dancer.”

“And?”

“And? Isn't that enough? She shouldn't be up onstage in front of strangers wearing almost nothing.”

Ripper shook his head. “Brother, you need to let that shit go.”

“What shit?” Axel groused.

“The idea that women need to be covered at all times. As my girl would say, it's misogynistic bullshit. Let me ask you something. Do you think less of Rose for working there?”

“Of course not,” he replied.

“What about Indi?” Ripper pressed.

“No. Shit. I see where you're going with this.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I owe Sophia an apology.”

“Ah, hell, brother. What did you do?”

“Said some shit I shouldn't have,” he grumbled.

“You better get that done quick, but don't do it at the clubhouse. If Sinner catches wind of it—”

“Yeah, I know. He'd kick my ass,” Axel said, cutting him off.

“Damn right he would.”

“Bah. There's nothing I can do about it right now, so let's just focus on the job.”

Axel finalized the inventory and handed the tablet over to Ripper to order what they needed.

The day progressed with them just shooting the shit in between customers, and when it was time for him to finally leave, he headed out quickly and drove over to Elysium. He had no idea if Sophia was working, but he would soon find out.

One thing was for sure. He had a lot of groveling to do.
