29. Baby
BABY
“Are you serious?” I asked in disbelief.
Sliding down off his lap, I went to sit back in the passenger seat. I just knew he was messing around with me. The person in control of my life was the bitch that’s infatuated with him.
He licked his lips. “Nah, I’m dead serious. We’re short staffed, and ain’t a lot of people in there who could take it on last minute.”
He licked his lips, and it probably wasn’t his intention to distract me but, for a moment, I looked down at his mouth. His smirk proved that he knew exactly what he was doing. “It’s procedure for her to take over in situations like this. She’s the supervisor, Baby.”
I pointed at myself. “You do realize your girlfriend could ruin my life, right?”
“Stop all that. You know I won’t let that happen.” His hand came down to squeeze my thigh. He had his head back against the seat, his eyes locked on me intensely.
“You handled it like you said you would then?” I asked, remembering the conversation we had on my couch.
“Nah, but I will. I can’t confront her without a plan, not when she got them pictures of us. We gotta play this the right way.”
He's right, but I was scared to death. She had my whole future in her hands. One phone call, and I'm back behind a jail cell. My body was facing the window. “I don’t think we gone work out. You got bitches out here threatening me over you. Maybe we need to end whatever this is now. We both knew this wasn’t a good idea in the first place.”
I reached for the handle to get out, but he clicked the door to lock me in with him.
I held my head up, glancing in his direction. “Let me go.”
“Nah, we ain’t doing this.” He grabbed my hand, pulling me back in his lap, despite my objections. “I’m sorry this something you gotta go through, but you ain’t in this alone, Baby. I’m right here with you, and I ain’t going nowhere. We can handle Lauren.”
That’s easy for him to say, but all I wanted to do was punch the bitch in the face. How was I supposed to act normal around her when she’s threatening to take my freedom?
“What about the picture she has?” I knew it was not much, but anybody who looked at that photo could see the chemistry between us. He gave me a pointed look. I could tell I was starting to get on his nerves.
“Let me deal with that,” he spoke with an authoritative tone.
I sighed, pouting. “Okay.”
He adjusted his sweatpants to lean further back against the seat. “Come here. A nigga missed you girl.”
“I missed you too.” I fell into his arms, and his focus drifted in on my lips.
“Can I kiss you, now? Or are we still fighting?” he asked, looked genuinely confused.
“Boy, be quiet,” I responded, leaning towards him. His nose brushed against my cheek before his mouth pressed to mine.
Grinding my hips on his dick, I grabbed the back of his neck, pulling him in closer. He made a noise in the back of his throat, and just like the last time we were in this position, we were interrupted.
There was a hard knock on the window, making us both jump. He wrapped his arm around me protectively as he looked through his window. Messiah stood on the other side with Jayda beside him. Pressing the button on the door, we watched the glass roll down slowly.
“Fuck you want? Can’t you see I'm busy?” Love warned him.
He blurted out, waving his hands frantically in the air. “Valentine got arrested, Love. It’s all over the fucking news, man!”
