Epilogue - Bethany

Two weeks later

“Morning, gorgeous. I’ve been waiting for you to wake up.”

I laugh into his chest. He gets one hand into my hair and tilts my face up, kissing me.

“Shower.”

“Now?”

“Now. I’ve been having very dirty thoughts about you.”

The shower in his bathroom was built for a man his size. He turns the water on hot and steps in first, and I watch him for a second before I follow him in. The water hits his broad shoulders and runs down his muscled chest. Wet inked skin glistening, he reaches for me.

He gets one hand to the back of my neck and pulls me under the spray with him. His massive cock is hard against my belly and his mouth is on mine before I have time to wake up properly.

Breaking the kiss for a second, I gaze up at him. “I have a request… I want it fast. I want you to fuck me hard against the tiles.”

His eyes go dark. “My pleasure.”

He turns me around, putting my hands flat on the wet tile above my head and moving my feet apart with the inside of his foot. The water hits my back, his chest hot against me. His thigh slides between mine and his free hand goes down my body, finding me already wet for him.

“You’re so wet for me. Good.”

He works me with two fingers, the base of his cock pressed into the small of my back, and his other fingers flexing inside me.

He stops, lifting my hips so I arch my back and he thrusts into me, filling me in one long stroke that ends with me gasping. He waits. Then he pulls almost all the way out and slams back into me over and over, and the sound I make echo around the walls.

“Fast and hard enough for you, princess?” He grunts.

“Yes. More. Please…”

He fucks me harder against the tile with the water beating down on his back, his hand at my hip, his other hand flat over mine on the wall. My breasts jiggle as his teeth find the back of my neck, pinning me in place. Every part of me is filled with delicious friction.

His hand comes around to my front and finds my clit.

Three slick fast circles and I come hard, my forehead pressed to the wet tile, a sound coming out of me that’s halfway between a scream and a moan.

I clench around him so hard he swears against the back of my neck.

He keeps moving through it as I shudder against him.

He empties himself into me with a groan and we stay like that for a long while with the water running down our bodies. When he pulls out, he gathers me against him, holding me until I stop shaking.

He soaps my body in a way that's softer than anything else he does, and by the time he gets to my hair I'm moaning again as his big fingers massage my scalp. When he’s done, he wraps me in an enormous towel and sits me on the edge of the bed, and he goes back through the door.

“Don't move.”

“Where are you going?”

“Stay right there.”

He comes back and goes down on one knee on the bedroom floor, taking my hand in his.

“This was my grandmother’s ring.”

He opens his hand. The ring is gold and has a clear blue stone that’s the color of my eyes.

“Bethany. I got it so wrong before; I want this to be right. Will you marry me, princess? For real?”

I shake my head yes, my eyes filled with happy tears.

He slides the ring onto my fourth finger, kissing my knuckles, then my palm, and stands up. He pulls me up off the bed with the towel still around me and kisses me like a man who's been waiting his whole life for this moment.

Later, we make breakfast together. I'm in his t-shirt. He's in jeans and bare feet as he cracks eggs into a bowl. I dice onions for him.

I'm laughing at a joke he’s made when his phone rings.

“Hawk?”

He puts the call on speaker so I can hear.

“Striker.”

“What’s up?”

"I'm outside Marvin's. Came in for breakfast about an hour ago.

There's a woman at the corner booth who's been there since before I sat down.

Suitcase at her feet. Cup of coffee that she's not drinking.

She's been checking her phone every two minutes and the door every thirty seconds.

Marvin clocked her, too. He went over and asked if she needed anything else.

She said she's waiting on a Mr. Wells who was supposed to meet her this morning at ten. It's eleven."

The kitchen goes quiet.

“What did she tell Marvin?”

“Not much. She came in on a bus from out of state this morning. The man was supposed to pick her up here. Can you get Bethany to check out the name?”

“Will do. Tell her you're a friend of Mr. Wells. Stay with her. Don't let her leave through the front. This stinks of Rotmere. We’ll check it out.”

Striker hangs up and looks over at me, but I'm already moving. My laptop is on the kitchen island. He puts the plate in front of me as I work.

“I've been thinking about our engagement party.”

I look up. “Already?”

“I want it Saturday.”

I smile up at him. “This Saturday?”

“This Saturday. The Saloon. Viv and Hawk can handle the food and the cat can wear a bow tie. I want everyone to see you wearing my ring.”

“We just got engaged twenty minutes ago.”

“And I waited too damn long to ask you.”

“You're impossible.”

“I'm in love with you.”

I throw my napkin at him. “Good thing I love you too. I have one request for Saturday night.”

“Name it.”

“You finally pick the raffle results and give that poor cat a name.”

He nods. “Now come over here and kiss me to seal the deal.”

Saturday it is.
