Epilogue

“The construction guy is downstairs. He said he has a few things to show you from his walk through.” Davey steps into my office.
I finally closed on the building where we held the sponsorship dinner all those months back.
It’s close to the gym, and it’s a beautiful space.
It has to be remodeled a bit to suit all my company’s needs, but it is officially mine.
I stand up from behind my desk and touch the framed post-it note that Eddie gave me.
It’s my favorite decoration in my office.
I follow Davey downstairs to meet with the guy who is lead on the renovations.
He’s waiting for me right outside the door.
He nods while holding the bill of his ballcap, “Ms. Cassidy.”
“Hi, Billy. Did you find something wrong?” This building is a little dated but I love it. And it feels right.
“Just a few electrical upgrades really. The building is sound. I just wanted to say thank you for letting me work on this project.” He sticks his hand out for me to shake.
Billy’s company is still fresh and new. I know that he has put bids in with projects for my dad but never got them.
His work is beautiful and sturdy. I am more than happy to give him the opportunity to be seen.
He lets go of my hand and hooks his thumb over his shoulder, towards the back alley.
“There is a random brick missing from the wall though. I’ll have a guy stop by and fix it.
Should be done by this evening.” I say my thanks before he leaves but my mind is racing.
I watch his truck pull off before literally running to the back alley.
The missing brick is from a spot that my body has been intimately introduced to.
I run my fingers over the lighter shade of red from years upon years of weathering.
A brick from this wall would look pale and discolored against new brick.
Especially in a well lit living room with the direct sunlight coming.
I don’t drive safely as I head to his house. The house that he has made sure has a piece of me in every room. Even before we were close, he did this. I run up the stairs and push the door open.
“Oliver West, get your lover boy ass out here!” I call out throughout the house.
I march through every room of the house, not finding him anywhere.
Then I hear him in the bathroom that I always use.
He redid it with a light up mirror and speakers for me to get ready.
But he secretly loves the set up. He even has my playlist playing.
I open the door and am welcomed with his humming along to the music behind the shower curtain.
I yank it back to find him grinning at me.
“Hey, pretty girl. Are you joining me?” He runs his hand through the soap on his body and I have to remind myself that I am here for a purpose.
“No.” I point my finger at him, “get your ass out of the shower.” I grab the towel from the hook and hold it out for him. “Go on, rinse off.” I twirl my finger in a circle to hurry him.
“Is something on fire?” Yeah, my willpower to not jump his bones.
He wraps the towel around his waist and I grab his hand, dragging him down the hallway until we reach the open space where the living room is. I smack the brick that I am certain is from the hole on the side of my building.
“You stole a sex brick and put it in your house!” I screech. “You’ve just casually had this in your house and act like it’s not the craziest thing in the world. Your family comes over and stands right next to this wall. They’ve complimented this wall. Your dad has leaned against this wall!”
He’s wearing a taunting smile. Paired with him standing in front of me in a towel, wet hair and my lips tattooed on his collar, it’s crippling. I’m a weak bitch.
“Don’t look at me like that.” I warn him as he takes a step forward.
“I’m looking at you like I always look at you.” He takes another step forward pushing my back against the bricks. He runs his knuckle up the arch of my neck slowly. Dropping his mouth down to run his tongue up the same path he whispers, “you don’t like our, what did you call it?”
“Sex brick.” I stutter out as he sinks his teeth into the skin behind my ear.
“Should I remove it?” His hand trails down and grips my ass.
“Don’t you dare!” I gasp out when he pulls me into him and I notice that he’s dropped his towel. He is fully naked standing in his living room, with me against this brick wall.
“Take your clothes off, baby. I want to taste you.” His fingers dip into my pants as I work to unbutton them.
I shove at them, trying to get them over my hips faster.
I hear him chuckle out a breath against my stomach as he claws at my shirt to prompt me to take it off too.
I pull off my shirt and toss it away. He is kissing my hip and moving his hand up to squeeze my bare breast. I hear him groan and I smile.
“I love that you never wear a bra.” He mumbles as he kisses my inner thigh.
He nudges my thigh open with his head and I have to steady myself with a hand on his shoulder.
I feel the brick cut into my shoulder blade as I arch into his touch.
“I’m addicted to how soft you are.” His nose runs up the length of my thigh before he plants a messy kiss to my core over my underwear.
He stands up and lifts me over his shoulder in one swift move.
He carries me all the way down the hallway before entering his bedroom.
He tosses me on the bed and pulls the remaining piece of clothing I’m wearing off.
Crawling over me, he plants kisses on every inch of skin that he can reach as he moves.
“I’m so happy you finally figured the brick out.
It’s my favorite addition to the house.” He says adoringly before nipping at my hip, his wet hair tickling my skin.
He comes back to capture my lips softly.
“I love you.” He breathes out before kissing me again.
“Stay in this bed forever.” He dips and kisses my shoulder.
“I can’t stay in your bed forever.” I giggle as his kisses tickle my ribs. “I have my own bed.” That I’m rarely in anymore because I love being here more.
“Then move in.” He suggests as he nuzzles my neck and pulls me tighter to him. He feels my body freeze and he pauses his onslaught of kisses.
“You can’t be serious.” I hold his face close to mine so I can see his eyes and search his face for any hint of joking.
“You already have a key.” He reminds me.
He gave me a key a few days after I announced I was the silent partner for Melinda.
He told me to come and go as I want, because he feels better when I’m here.
“We made this a home together. I’ve just been waiting for you to realize it.
” He rests his forehead against mine and I can feel him breathe deeply.
“I promise to always keep cherries stocked and your favorite cereal. Anything you want.”
He lets me flip us over so I am straddling him.
I lean down and bring my lips to his tattoo on his collar bone.
“Okay.” I whisper as I keep kissing over his chest. I sit back up and capture his lips with mine.
“I love this home.” I smile. “I love that brick.” I kiss him again. “But I love you more.”
