Chapter Nine
Jelly Bean and Rebel turned to head to the Lighthouse. When they got close, Jelly went to the right and Rebel slipped around to the left side.
Peeking through the windows, Jelly Bean found him in one of the bedrooms. He must have hidden somewhere unknown when the men searched for him.
Benzo looked a bit dizzy and unsteady in his feet but he was throwing his clothes into a duffle bag.
“Damnit, he must have a hard head,” she muttered.
She met Rebel at the back and reached for the door knob. They knew that he would be fully armed and aware, so he couldn’t be sneaked up on now.
Rebel slipped inside first then Jelly Bean went in and closed the door quietly. They gripped their respective bats and silently moved through the cramped little rooms. They would use their guns if they had to, but they figured this approach was best.
Before they left the kitchen, Jelly Bean looked around and had to shake her head. There were takeout containers all over the place. The trash can was full and the room was beginning to smell like bad food.
Stepping into the living room wasn’t much better.
Beer cans were all over the floor and more take out trash littered every flat surface.
Jelly’s gaze swept over the room and then stopped at the sight of dog dishes in the corner.
Storm had mentioned that Ria’s brothers used her own dog to find her then after they beat her up they murdered her dog in front of her.
She had escaped as they dragged her dog’s body away to bury him.
Jelly’s gaze hardened and she took the next step.
They caught Benzo as he walked through the door of the bedroom aiming for the back door.
Rebel slammed her bat at the back of his knees.
Benzo screamed as he fell. The bag he carried dropped to the floor with a thud.
He looked up and found the girls standing there glaring down at him.
“Oh, fuck.” He then sprawled out face down on the floor.
For a moment, he couldn’t even move but eventually he pushed himself over and laid on his back, staring up at the two women.
“What did I ever do to you? I’ve never seen you two before today. ”
“Let’s just say, payback is a bitch and so are you,” Rebel raised her bat again.
Whimpering, Benzo screamed in fear then his eyes rolled up in his head and he passed out cold.
Jelly Bean dropped her bat then grabbed her gun.
Rebel did the same.
They both whirled around, aiming at the door.
They’d heard someone and they would put bullets into whoever thought they could jump them.
With his hands raised, Storm stood at the door.
The two women lowered their weapons.
“Damn,” Storm muttered and chuckled. “You two are fucking badasses for sure. Good thing you’re on our side.”
He walked over to where Benzo was laying and checked his neck to make sure he was still alive. He felt a heartbeat and nodded. “He’ll do, ladies.” Then he looked up. “We got to move or face Big Mac. One of his men got through our line and he’ll know we got Benzo soon enough.”
“Shit, that’s not good,” Rebel grumbled.
Jelly Bean moved over to the bag Benzo had dropped and grabbed the handle. She then carried it out the door.
Storm had Benzo over his wide shoulder.
They all got out the door and into the shadows quickly.
They had all the others laid out like cordwood in the back of Storm’s pickup truck. Tornado stayed in the back with the unconscious men and Storm drove away fast but careful.
Jelly Bean and Rebel climbed onto their bikes.
On the way back, Jelly kept searching for her homeless friends but she couldn’t find anyone out on the streets. She settled back in her seat and felt glad her friends would be safe when Big Mac came back around.
When they arrived at the Vincinti estate they drove in and John's men came over to take the prisoners away.
Storm stood by the girls as they parked their bikes. He looked out at the street. “Well, Mac didn’t wait,” he announced. “I caught sight of his limo heading toward the lighthouse.”
“Well of course, he didn’t wait. He wasn’t going to lose his connection wasn’t he?” Rebel asked.
“Did you learn anything from his men?” Jelly Bean wanted to know.
Storm shook his head. “No, they couldn’t stay awake long enough to tell us a damn thing. But when they wake up, we can ask them again.”
“You hit them too hard, didn’t you?” Jelly Bean snarked.
Storm looked over at her. “You are accusing ME of that? I saw Ricco before we came to get Benzo. You did one helluva number on that snake.”
Jelly Bean laughed. “Damn right, I did.”
Rebel laughed with her. “And he deserved every hit. I wish we could do that all over again. What fun today was.”
“And the dickless lines?” Tornado said. “That was fucking funny!”
Lightning agreed, “I personally liked the tiny dick-led cartel line.”
Storm’s cell rang. He took it from his pocket and read the text. “Holy shit!”
The girls looked up at him.
He shook his head and told them, “Oscar has been kidnapped.”
Jelly Bean gasped. “What? Who told you this?”
“I did.”
They all looked up to see Leon at the top steps. “Big Mac called me. He said that he knows we are all fond of Oscar. He has spies everywhere. He wants several things in order to return him safely. If we don’t, he will send him to us in pieces.”
“I am going to find Mac and fucking kill him!” Jelly Bean exclaimed in rage.
