Chapter One #2
Char replied with a growl in her voice, “I’ve been watching and waiting for the right time to get back at Victor.
To bring the old bitch’s empire down and I’m almost there.
Then a year ago I found out something. My grandmother made another deal, this time she made one for Rosie.
Before I could stop her, she sold my baby sister into a marriage with the devil himself.
I finally found Rosie and I think she’s in real trouble. ”
“What do you mean, in trouble?” Kelly asked.
Char took a deep breath and told her, “A week ago, Rosie finally called me. She said she was a prisoner inside his house and she thought he was gonna kill her. That’s when I heard her scream and then the phone went dead. Oh, Kelly, I have to get her out of that house and get her safe.”
“What do you want me to do?” Kelly asked.
“I want you to meet me and go on a rescue mission with me,” Char said.
“Will you help me get my sister out of her hell and somewhere safe? I know it’s asking a lot from someone you haven’t seen in almost five years but I don’t know who else to ask.
If I went in alone I don’t think Rosie or I would survive. I need your help.”
Kelly smiled and she said, “You better not go without me. Just tell me when and where to meet you. I’ll be there.” She paused, “Can I bring a friend along?”
Char sighed deeply. “God yes, bring whoever you want, we may need the help. Meet me in San Antonio as soon as you can get there. I’ll be on the River Walk.”
“Ok, it should only take me a few hours to get there. Wait for me,” Kelly told her. She ended the call then looked over at Comanche. She rose to her feet and walked across the lawn to his patio.
Comanche looked up when she sat down at his table. He reached down into a cooler and grabbed another beer. He handed it to her.
She took it but she didn’t open it. She wouldn’t tell him she didn’t drink beer anymore. Instead, she looked at him. “Are you gonna be busy for the next few days?” she finally asked him.
“Whatcha got in mind?” Comanche asked, taking a small sip of his first beer.
“A rescue mission,” Kelly told him. “An old friend needs to rescue her sister from an abusive relationship. Interested?”
“You know Shay will be back tomorrow, right?” Comanche asked.
Kelly nodded. “Yeah, I know but this is part of my past and I need to do this tonight.” She shrugged.
“Shay is a lot of things but stupid isn’t one of them.
He knows the law, so this is something he would never do.
We’re going in to get Char’s sister out, by whatever means we can.
Like breaking in, maybe. So along with that we will be outlaws again pretty much.
Then we’re gonna bring her grandmother and uncle’s empire down around their ears.
They are the ones who did this to my friend and her baby sister.
” She shrugged. “Maybe it’ll be legal, maybe not but that’s the plan. ”
Comanche simply nodded and then asked, “So who is this Char person?”
“I met her when I was ten and for five years she was my best friend. One night she was there and then in the morning she was gone. I never knew what happened to her and her sister. Her uncle found her mom, his sister, they argued, she ended up unconscious on the floor and he disappeared with Char and her sister. The beating she took and the fact that her daughters were missing broke her heart and she ended up in the ground. That wasn’t right and it took Char five long years to find her way back.
She found her mom’s grave and then she found her sister was already married at sixteen.
The man she was forced to marry is an abusive asshole.
So, it is time to get her out of there before he kills her. ” She paused, then added, “You in?”
Comanche finished his beer then got to his feet. “I’m in. You need any more backup?”
Kelly shrugged. “Maybe Chase. We need to move fast though; we’re meeting Char in San Antonio.”
Comanche nodded. “I’ll pack for trouble and hope we don’t need it. The others are on their way home too. I’m gonna call a couple of the guys. We should pick them up on the road.”
“Sounds good to me. Meet back at my place in thirty minutes.” She got up and walked home.
As soon as she entered the house through the patio, she went to the hall closet and pulled out a small bag with one outfit and a few devices that she might need. She checked the contents then zipped it close.
Next, she went into the bedroom.
Ten minutes later, she came back out, dressed to ride.
She sat down at the table and wrote Shay a note.
She told him she was going on a mission with a couple of her boys and she asked him to research Olivia Barron and Victor Barron.
She also added that she would be okay. Yes, he would worry about the baby, but really she knew she would be fine.
In another few weeks she wouldn’t be able to ride or do anything, so this would be her last hurrah so to speak.
She had to do this for many reasons though, her best friend needed her for one. She went on writing her note:
...I’m going to have backup joining me soon. I will explain everything when I get back. I promise, but I have to do this.
She signed it, Love you muchly, Kelly.
Grabbing her bag, she locked the door behind her then walked out to get her cycle.
Both Chase and Comanche were there, waiting for her. Then they heard the sound of another bike coming down her street.
It was Crusher. Without a word, he joined them.
Kelly gave them all a nod of thanks, then swung her leg over her ride and said, “Lets go. We are headed to the River Walk in San Antonio.”
