Chapter 10 Graham

GRAHAM

She shoved me out the way, slammed the door in my face, and took off like her ass was on fire.

I watch her car rush off into the distance, staring after her like I could force her to turn her perky little ass back around.

My fingertips reach up and wipe gently at my lips, I can still feel the ghost of hers lingering.

That was one of the most electric kisses I have ever had in my life.

If I could have pinned her to the car and just explored her with my lips, I would have.

She tasted exactly like I imagined, slightly sweet, a hint of caramel still lingering from her coffee this morning.

I file that taste into a folder in my mind to absolutely never forget, worrying I will never get to taste her again.

I pull my phone out of my pocket, pulling her contact up and changing her name, currently listed as Nyx, to Little Witch and sending the contact over to Demitri.

I know I shouldn’t message her now, but I can’t help myself.

Me: Fly away Little Witch, but you will always be mine.

The message is delivered, but not read. I remind myself that she is probably driving and is trying to be safe.

Luckily I didn’t ride with Dee to the station this morning.

So, I head over to my truck to go home. I find my electric blue F-150 in the lot.

She was one of the first purchases I made when Dee and I got our first big security contract.

Starting the truck up, I plug my phone in and try to reach out to my best friend to see what is going on in that head of his.

The phone rings and rings. I’m fairly certain he is ignoring me, but just as soon I go to hang up, he picks up. “What do you want, Hutch? I’m not in the mood for your cheeriness right now.”

“So you don’t want to hear about the most electrifying kiss I have ever experienced?

” I want to push his buttons a little to try and get him out of his own head.

Demitri is his own worst enemy when it comes to the demons slipping, especially when he has feelings for someone.

He might not be acknowledging his crush on Nyx, but I saw the look on his face after he carried her out of the station.

“WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU KISSING? I THOUGHT WE WERE PURSUING NYX?” A maniacal laugh escapes me. He thinks I was just out kissing some randos.

“Think about what I was just doing, Dee. Take a breath, bro.”

“You were walking Nyx back to her car. Making sure she got there safely.”

“Very good. I kissed Nyx, buddy, and it was the most amazing and electrifying kiss I have ever had.” I leave the part out about her taking off like I lit her ass on fire, because he will think I did something to her to make her take off.

I hear a groan from the other side of the phone.

“Do you want me to tell you all about it? How soft and amazing her lips felt-.”

“Shut the fuck up, Graham!” Ouch, he never calls me Graham. He is pissed.

“Oof hitting me with the “Graham”. Did I hit a nerve, Demitri?”

“Why do you like to wind me up?” He growls.

“I know that sometimes you need to be wound up to finally admit to things. I could see that look on your face when you hauled her perfect ass out of the police station this morning. Also, you would never snap like you did on her ex for just anyone. I know sharing was mentioned, but I need to know if you actually want to share her or if it’s just going to be a one night thing.

I will not put my Little Witch through that if you are not willing to try. ”

“Sometimes I hate that you have known me my whole fucking life.” That is the only thing that comes out of his grumpy mouth for a few minutes.

The silence just lingering in the air, knowing I could scare him off if I don’t tread lightly.

I let him sit with his thoughts and how he is going to respond.

“Can you meet me at the house?” His voice is softer than it has been throughout this whole interaction.

“Ya. I just left the station. I’ll be home in a few. See you soon, Dee.”

“Thank you, Hutch. See you soon.”

Climbing into my truck, I take a moment to just appreciate that I think I finally found her.

The girl I’ve waited my whole life to find.

She may not want to admit it, but I can see her walls crumbling brick by brick.

Putting the truck in drive, I head to go deal with my surly best friend. He needs to chill out.
