Chapter 49 Nyx

NYX

Consciousness starts to make me aware of where I am again. The cuffs chafing my wrists and ankles. Still in the leggings and sports bra combo I put on over a week ago. The smell that radiates off my body makes me gag. I am not sure how Nick can even stand to be near me.

I avoid making too much noise and letting him know that I am awake. Jack and Nick must be sitting in the living room. I can smell fresh brewed coffee lingering in the air, and my mouth waters. God, what I would give for one of those coffees Dee makes.

“They are going to find our connection eventually, Nick. You need to decide what we are going to do with the girls.” Jack sounds concerned.

I was honestly shocked to find out that Jack and Nick are related. A little tidbit of knowledge I picked up when they thought I wasn’t listening. Nick responds to Jack’s concerns, but I can’t make out his actual words. I’m hoping Jack is right and Graham is on his tail.

“Nick, do you understand that Hutchinson doesn’t play by the rules when it comes to his hacking? He will do what is needed to find his woman.”

Bleh, I don’t like the phrase “his woman”. It makes me feel like he owns me. While yes I am his and Demitri’s, I’d rather be his girlfriend, his love, something less archaic.

“It’s after eight, I am waking up my Baby Girl. It’s time to play.”

Gag.

Fuck, what can I do? Play dead? No, I'm not a damn possum. Think Nyx. What will protect both of us? Goddamn it, I have nothing. This may be it. He’s managed to keep his tiny cock away from me this whole time, but patience is running thin.

“Baby Girl,” his voice is sickly sweet. “Good morning, are you hungry?” If I didn’t know better, I would think he was actually caring.

“Good morning, Nick.” I refuse to play pretend and act like I used to, but I will be nice enough to save the abuse, hopefully. “I would love some breakfast. Also, can I use the bathroom, please?”

He nods his head and walks over to unlock the cuffs at my wrists and ankles. I stand on Bambi legs, and stumble my way to the bathroom. The floor is cold and rough on my feet. I catch a glimpse of the sun reflecting off the fresh snow on the ground.

I relieve myself and stand to wash my hands. I stare at the shower, wishing I could at least take a quick shower. What I wouldn’t give for Graham to wash my hair again. I let myself daydream of my last day at home.

The guys needed to go into the office, but Graham wanted to make sure I didn’t forget his tongue while he was gone. It’s been almost two weeks since I’ve been in their arms, but I can still feel them wrap around me while I tune out this hell.

Bang, bang, bang.

Shit!

“Hurry up,” Nick growls from the other side of the locked door. “I will break the door down, Baby Girl.”

God, I wish he would stop saying that. I hated that nickname when we were together, let alone now. I can see his shadow lingering under the door. Waiting for me to make my appearance.

I peek my head out of the bathroom, putting my sweetest smile on. “Could I possibly shower? I stink Nick. I don’t know how you stand to be near me.” I beg. I know I sound pathetic, but I can’t help it. Anything to delay going back out there.

“Fine, you have ten minutes. I’ll leave a shirt for you outside the door.”

A shirt, that’s all I fucking get is a goddamn shirt? Shit, I would settle for an oversized pair of sweats to go with that shirt, but it’s freezing and I get a shirt?

“Ok, thank you.” Keep your cool, Nyx. You got this.

It’s mid-afternoon, the sun is starting to come through the windows at the back of the cabin.

Today has been the nicest day we have had since they took us.

They are no longer trying to force us into compliance, but I still don’t trust them.

We have been sitting in the living room, on the laps of our corresponding assholes.

The sounds of shattering glass fill the room, just seconds before smoke starts to pour in. What the actual fuck is going on? Nick grips my hair and pulls me to the back of the small cabin. Like he is going to be able to run away from any assailants that are here.

“They won’t get you, Nyx. You. Are. Mine.” He growls in my ear. “If I can’t have you, no one can.”

He is backed into a corner. Never trust a feral dog when it’s cornered. Nick right now is that dog, and I’m afraid he’s going to just kill me so they can’t have me.

“Nick, just let me go. Save your own life to fight again.” I plead.

His fingers in my hair tighten, and his other hand wraps around my throat. Cutting off my air supply, he drags me to the back door. He maintains the pressure on my slim neck but releases my hair to open the door, just seconds before the door splinters and is kicked in.

Demitri standing there, the whole world resting on his shoulders. A level of darkness I have never seen him possess reflects back in his eyes. He is the embodiment of the darkness that holds his soul!
