Bonus chapter
Years had passed since the storms of betrayal and scandal had shaken Coulter Holdings. Time had a way of softening pain, letting wounds heal, and creating spaces where love and joy could finally thrive.
The morning air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of roses and fresh grass.
The ceremony was set in a sprawling garden beside a tranquil lake, sunlight reflecting in golden ripples across the water.
Guests had gathered family, close friends, and a few trusted colleagues from Coulter Holdings who had witnessed the company's rebirth under Rosey's guidance.
Rosey stood behind a delicate screen of ivy and wisteria, taking slow, steady breaths. She wore a gown of soft ivory silk, flowing elegantly to the ground. Her hands trembled slightly, though not from nerves, her excitement and happiness were impossible to contain.
Hayes appeared first, at the end of the aisle, dressed sharply in a tailored suit that suited his tall, strong frame.
He looked calm, composed, yet there was a softness in his eyes, a reflection of the love he carried for Rosey.
The moment he saw her, walking toward him, his lips curved into a smile that seemed to lift every shadow from the past.
Rosey's father stood nearby, beaming with pride. He had watched his daughter endure betrayals, heartbreak, and fear, and now he saw her step into a life filled with love, respect, and joy.
Theo, now a lively six-year-old, ran ahead of Rosey, carrying a small cushion with the wedding rings tied carefully atop it.
He paused mid-aisle, looking back at Richard for reassurance.
Richard knelt down and whispered, "Go on, Theo.
You're doing great, son." Theo grinned, bolted forward again, and presented the rings with the kind of pride only a child could carry.
Richard himself stood at the side, his eyes glistening.
The years had etched faint lines across his face, but his posture carried the same dignity and quiet strength he had always commanded.
Watching Rosey his friend, his ally, the woman who had restored order, trust, and love in the lives around her walk toward Hayes, Richard felt a warmth that brought tears to his eyes.
Hayes took Rosey's hands as she reached the front. "Rosey," he said, voice low and full of emotion, "I promise to stand by you, to love you, and to build our life together with honesty, patience, and care. I promise to honour you every day of my life."
Rosey's eyes shone. "Hayes, I promise to trust you, to love you freely, and to share every part of my life with you. I promise to face everything together and to never let fear or doubt rule us again."
Theo clapped loudly from the side, his small voice ringing out: "You guys are perfect!"
Laughter rippled through the gathering. Even Rosey's father chuckled, his hand resting lightly on Theo's shoulder. "He's right," he said. "You two are perfect together."
Richard cleared his throat, stepping forward.
"I have the honour of witnessing this," he said, voice thick with emotion.
"And let me say... Rosey, you've always had strength and grace.
Hayes, you've proven yourself worthy of her heart.
May your lives together be filled with joy, laughter, and endless adventures. "
Tears welled in his eyes. For a moment, he thought of all the pain they had endured the scandals, Brett's downfall, Marianne's betrayal, the corporate chaos, and now all of it felt like a distant shadow The future gleamed ahead like the sunlight on the lake, bright and full of promise.
The officiant smiled warmly. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife."
Hayes lifted Rosey's hand to his lips in a gentle kiss that held a lifetime of love, trust, and commitment. Rosey responded, closing her eyes and letting herself feel the moment fully. Laughter and applause erupted around them, mingling with the soft breeze.
Theo ran forward and hugged both of them, giggling. "You're married! You're really married!"
Rosey bent down and kissed his forehead. "And you were the best ring bearer ever, Theo."
Hayes lifted Theo in his arms and spun him around. "You did amazing, little man. Every hero needs a crown."
Richard stepped forward and rested a hand on Theo's shoulder. "And every family needs love," he said, his eyes shining with quiet pride. "You two... Rosey and Hayes... have reminded all of us how powerful love can be."
As the evening sunlight dipped, the garden filled with the soft glow of lanterns.
Guests mingled, the laughter and music wrapping the scene in a warm embrace.
Rosey and Hayes walked hand in hand through the crowd, stopping to greet colleagues, friends, and family, each conversation filled with joy and genuine connection.
Rosey paused for a moment near the lake, looking at her reflection in the water.
She saw herself not just the survivor of betrayal and corporate warfare but a woman who had reclaimed her life, her power, and her happiness.
She felt a gentle hand on her shoulder and turned to see Hayes smiling at her.
"I can't wait to start this life with you," he said, voice low and tender.
Rosey smiled. "Neither can I."
Meanwhile, Richard watched from a distance, leaning on the railing.
He saw Theo laughing and running through the grass, carefree and unburdened.
He saw Rosey and Hayes strong and in love, leading the celebration.
He felt a deep satisfaction. The company was thriving, Rosey had risen to her rightful place, and the family, though unconventional, was whole again.
The night settled over them with a sense of calm and completeness. Music drifted across the gardens, lanterns twinkled in the soft dark, and the air was filled with hope, laughter, and the unspoken promise of more joyful days to come.
Rosey and Hayes shared one last quiet moment together near the water, holding hands and watching the reflection of the moon on the lake. "We've earned this," she whispered.
"Yes," Hayes agreed. "And we'll protect it, always."
Richard joined them, looking out at the horizon. "You've made all of us proud," he said softly. "I've seen many empires rise and fall, but this, this is the one that matters most."
Theo crawled onto Richard's shoulders, giggling. "I love this empire!"
Everyone laughed, the sound carrying across the water. Rosey looked around at her little family Hayes, Theo, Richard, and for the first time in her life, she felt entirely at peace.
The sun had set, but their lives, bright and full of love, were only just beginning.
The empire that had once been a source of betrayal, scandal, and heartbreak had transformed into something entirely new: a family built on trust, love, and joy.
And in that moment, every heart there knew the truth: happiness, when earned and cherished, could last forever.
