Chapter 69
***Casey***
“Ethan.” He’s not moving. He’s breathing, and I hear his
heartbeat… but he’s not moving. “Ethan?”
His eyes jerk open, and he scrambles off the bed, away from
me.
“I’m sorry. Casey, I’m so sorry!”
“For what?”
“I don’t know what got into me. I hurt you. I’m sorry.”
“You didn’t hurt me.”
“Yes, I did. You were screaming.”
He looks so tormented. Poor thing. I motion for him to come
back to bed and pat the space next to me.
“No.” He shakes his head.
Oh, brother. I climb out of bed, a little gingerly,
but I manage to make it to where he’s curled up in the corner. I kneel next to
him and place my hand on his cheek.
“I’m fine.”
“How can you be?” he asks, giving me an incredulous stare.
“How? I came like fifty-eleven times, that’s how.” His
disbelief intensifies. “I’m fine. I promise.”
“You are?”
“Yes. Why don’t you go shower while I finish up
downstairs? Your brothers will be here soon.”
“You’re sure you’re okay?”
“Positive.” I stand and offer him my hand. “Come on.”
He rises and pulls me against him with a deep sigh. I press
my cheek to his chest and inhale deeply, breathing in his beautiful, manly,
post-sex scent.
“Go.”
“Okay,” he agrees. “But I have something to show you first.”
He walks to his chest of drawers and returns holding three
photo frames, handing them to me one by one. They’re the pictures of us from
the fundraiser. They look way better than they did in the newspaper.
“Where did you get these?”
“I tracked down the photographer, bought them from him.”
“Can I have one?”
“Of course. I have digital copies, so I can print as many as
I like.”
“I have something for you.”
“What is it?” he asks.
I retrieve his gift from my purse and hand it to him as he
sits on the bed. He eyes the small box suspiciously, even shaking it.
“Just open it.”
He flips the lid and smiles up at me.
“So, are you finally admitting that I’m the boss?”
“I’m willing to let you think you’re the boss.”
He chuckles and removes the Hugo Boss
chronograph watch from the box. It has a mineral crystal face with three rose
gold-accented chronograph dials, the word “Boss” etched on top of them, and a
croc-embossed leather strap.
“The strap matches your eyes.”
“Thank you. I love it.”
“Turn it over.”
He flips the watch and looks closely at the engraving on the
back.
“For my alpha male,” he reads aloud.
He runs his finger across the words with a wistful smile
before he pulls me close, kissing me gently. His arms tighten around my waist,
and he presses me against him with a sigh.
“Thank you, baby.”
“You’re welcome.”
“I have something for you, too.”
“Oh? What is it?”
“Hand me my wallet.”
Confused, I search his discarded jeans and hand him the
wallet. He removes a credit card and hands it to me. Even more confused, I look
at the card and back to him. I take it from his fingers and see my name on it.
“What’s this for?”
He shrugs. “Whatever you need.”
“I don’t need another credit card.”
“This one is linked to my account. It has no limit, and you
don’t have to worry about the bill.”
“No limit? What if I decide to go out and buy a Porsche?”
“Do you want a Porsche? I can make a phone call—”
“No, I don’t want a Porsche!” I shout.
“Casey, calm down.”
“Ethan—”
“Don’t argue,” he states.
He gives me that look of his and I think better of
objecting. Besides, just because I have it doesn’t mean I have to use it.
“Okay. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. And make sure you use it.”
I roll my eyes and push him toward the bathroom.
“Shower. Now.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
I watch him as he walks off, and see the huge tattoo of a
wolf’s head on his back. Why is this the first time I’m seeing it? Mr. Wolves-Are-Dangerous
has a thing for wolves? Huh. I choose the picture of us on the dance floor for
myself and then place the “number one” photo on the nightstand. The one of us
on the steps of the hotel, I place on his chest of drawers.
I begin to wonder what really just happened. It was like he
wasn’t aware… like he was possessed. It was intense. I’m okay, but I know I’m
going to be sore for a while. I may have to stay away from him for a few days
to give my poor vagina some time to heal.
