Chapter 36 #3

The Light overhead surged, the entire dome brightening silver-blue for a heartbeat. Kieran didn’t stop until my legs were shaking. Then I pulled him up because I needed his mouth on mine again. He kissed me without hesitation.

I tasted myself which should have shocked me. Instead I dragged him closer. His cock pressed against my thigh. Hard and hot as the heat beneath my skin. My body tightened around the absence of him.

I reached between us. Kieran’s hand closed around my hip. His eyes met mine and stayed there. Neither of us needed to ask what came next. I had walked down here knowing what I wanted, and whatever hesitation I might have carried with me had disappeared somewhere between his hands and mine.

I guided him toward my entrance. The head of his cock pressed against me, slick with me already. Both of us stopped breathing.

Then he pushed in.

The first stretch made my fingers dig into his back. My body tightened instinctively around him, pressure bordering on ache until I forced myself to breathe and felt myself begin to give.

“Fuck.” He stopped halfway. I moved my hips before he could decide to be sensible about it.

That was enough.

Kieran pushed deeper, slowly for another second, then the last of him filled me. My breath disappeared against his mouth. The fullness of him was almost overwhelming. My thighs tightened around his hips while my body adjusted, every small movement sending another sharp pulse through me.

I pulled him closer.

That was when he started moving. The first thrust was slow enough to make me feel every inch of him.

The second wasn’t. I gasped into his mouth.

His Shadow surged across the dome. My hands slid over his back, fingers catching on the raised scars and runes there, and Kieran shuddered hard enough that I felt it through both of us. “Again.”

His head lifted. I barely recognized my own voice.

He gave me what I asked for, harder and deeper until my nails dragged across his shoulder.

His mouth found my throat. Stars drifted loose overhead.

One struck his back and melted into the runes there.

Gold flickered at its center before it disappeared.

Kieran’s Shadow surged hard enough that the dome trembled.

Then he thrust again and I stopped looking.

Whatever control either of us had brought into the ring was gone.

There was nothing graceful left. Sweat gathered between us.

My hair stuck to my neck. His breath came harsh against my mouth.

My lip stung every time he kissed me too hard and I kissed him harder anyway.

His knee slipped once. I laughed again.

He swore and buried his face against my neck. “You’re impossible.”

“You’re the one who—” The next thrust cut me off. I moaned. Kieran laughed this time.

“Asshole.”

“Keep talking.”

I grabbed his hair. He kissed me. There was less humor after that. The rhythm turned rougher. My body started meeting his without thought, and when his hand slid between us again the pressure inside me sharpened so quickly I broke away from his mouth with a gasp. “Kieran.”

His thumb moved. My thighs drew tighter around him. He swore and the dome overhead pulsed once more. More gold appeared among the Starlight. Not falling yet. Gathering. Bright points spreading through the silver-blue until the darkness above us looked alive.

Kieran rolled us. The movement startled a laugh out of me before I realized I was above him. His hands landed on my hips. The rune was fully exposed between us now, black lines curving toward the place where our bodies joined. The sight of it seemed to steal whatever breath Kieran had left.

His head fell back against the cloak. “Fuck, Menace.”

That was all the encouragement I needed. I moved slowly at first, lifting until only part of him remained inside me before sinking back down. Kieran’s fingers dug into my hips.

Again.

The friction changed completely from this angle. Deeper when I came down, dragging differently when I lifted, until I found the motion that made his head fall back against the cloak. The sound he made went straight through me.

I did it again.

The runes covering his chest and shoulders looked almost black beneath the false sky. Shadow crawled through them, spilling out around my hands where I braced myself against him. I found a rhythm, lost it, then found another. Kieran stopped trying to hide the sounds I pulled from him.

That ruined me more than anything. I had seen him controlled through pain, anger, fear. Had watched him shut himself down so completely that sometimes I wondered whether anything could reach him.

This could.

I could.

The thought scared me enough that I moved harder. Kieran sat up and locked his arm around my waist. The new angle drove him so deep my breath cracked. His mouth closed around my breast. I grabbed his shoulders. “Gods, Kieran.”

His hand found the Shadow rune at my hip. His thumb traced it once. Silver burst beneath his touch. I nearly lost my rhythm.

He did it again. “Don’t.” He looked up. I was breathing too hard to explain.

His thumb moved lower. My hips jerked. “Oh, fuck you.”

His mouth curved against my breast. “That was the idea.” I would have insulted him if he hadn’t moved his hand between us. His fingers found me. Everything inside me drew taut.

The magic above us changed. Gold spread rapidly through the suspended stars. Kieran looked past my shoulder for half a second.

I didn’t.

I couldn’t.

His fingers moved in time with my hips. His cock filled me with every downward motion, deep enough now that every stroke seemed to hit somewhere new. Shadow poured off both of us. Silver flashed around our bodies.

The pressure built until I could barely breathe through it. “Kieran.”

His eyes snapped to mine. “Look at me.” The humor disappeared from his face.

He only looked at me, breathing almost as hard as I was.

I held his shoulders and moved once more.

The pressure inside me went sharp and unbearable.

My orgasm hit hard enough that the world seemed to tilt. My body clenched around him.
