Chapter 32

Rori

THAT SUNDAY NIGHT

MAGGIE: So how was it with Landon today when he came to the cottage? I hope you made him grovelllll.

RORI: Not my style, Mags.

RORI: But he didn’t do anything really wrong anyways.

MAGGIE: Yeah, true.

MAGGIE: Seriously, was it okay? You okay?

RORI: Sort of? I mean, we avoided the huge elephant in the room.

MAGGIE: Oh wait, you guys didn’t talk talk?

RORI: Nope. Neither of us brought it up.

MAGGIE: It does look like Trinity’s moved the focus along to her gender reveal event. Nobody’s talking about Landon anymore.

RORI: I know.

RORI: Even so, I’m feeling really uneasy about putting myself in the middle of a publicity storm. Trinity or no Trinity.

RORI: I just want to focus on the Open.

MAGGIE: So why didn’t you tell him that?

RORI: Because I chickened out. UGH. He wants me to go to this gala thing with him the week before.

MAGGIE: GIRL.

RORI: Yeah. Maybe I’ll try to talk to him about it sometime this week.

MAGGIE: What about your dad? You talk to him more about the house?

RORI: Not really, but what can I do? The house is sold.

RORI: At least when we spoke last week, I told him how I felt, and he apologized. With Landon, I can’t seem to get my big girl panties on.

MAGGIE: Time to pull em up.
