Epilogue
Ari
After everything at the prison, we went straight to Kira and Jason, then took a two week vacation in Mexico.
During that time, Nolan turned over the evidence I gave him to the US government, and they ripped through what was left of my father’s loyalists.
Tivon’s guy took Aharon’s place, and Mossad is finally the agency that I grew up idolizing.
Now that he is in control, I stepped foot back in Israel for the first time in years.
I sit down beside Avina’s tiny headstone and dust it off.
“Hey, Avina. I’m so sorry I wasn’t here to save you.
” I let the tears roll down my cheeks, because I’m finally able to grieve for her.
“He’s dead. So is Abraham. I just wish you were here to see it and meet my family.
You’d love Kira. She reminds me a lot of you.
Beautiful, strong, funny, sweet. She deals with us all, so she has to be special.
You’d love Jason too. He puts me in my place.
” I laugh at that. “I’ve always felt like you were watching over me, but I hope now that you can find peace knowing that I’m safe, I’m happy, and I’m so fucking free.
” I look over the cemetery, meeting the eyes of my team waiting for me to do what I needed to do.
“I’m going to show them how beautiful Israel is, and one day I’m going to ask them to marry me. I love you, Avina.”
I sit there with her, thinking about how life has changed.
After the prison, we struggled to find a balance, until Kira reminded me of what I showed her before shit blew up.
I grabbed Axel, Cole, Sean, and Kai to finish the house that I bought for us.
We had it done in no time, and I surprised them with it.
That’s when we found our groove. We decorated together, making it ours.
Cryptic, aka Beckett, stayed with Axel until we couldn’t risk it any longer. We sent him into hiding with Roland’s team, since they’re all running from the same person now. His little brother went to live with Betty and Isiah and is loving his new life, even though he misses his brother.
Even though life hasn’t come easy, I can’t help but be thankful for what I have.
The Beta Team was already close, probably closer than most of the others, but now we have each other in all ways.
Adding Jason and Kira brought us closer, but Tivon is who we needed to complete us.
We all bring different things to this relationship, and we’re making it work.
There was no blowback from our involvement with my father’s death or the destruction that followed us around while we were on the run. Nolan somehow got everything submitted anonymously, so now we just have to live our life.
“Are you ready, Babe?” I look up at Jason’s beautiful face and get to my feet.
I pull him into my chest. “Marry me.”
Jason jerks back. “What?”
“Let’s get married. All of us.”
Tears fill Jason’s eyes and he laughs. “Only you can pull off a proposal like this.”
“You knew what you were getting into the first night in that stockroom, Sweet cheeks.”
“Ari, I’d marry you right now if I could. You are my life, and I’ll never be able to express the love I feel for all of you.”
“So, that’s a yes?”
“Yes,” Jason laughs again. “But maybe we should involve the others in this conversation.”
I grab his hand and drag him laughing back to the group. “We’re getting married. Full commitment ceremony shit. Until Death do us part.”
Tyler whoops and pumps his fist in the air. “Let’s do this.”
Gavin shakes his head with a roll of his eyes. “You guys have to be the most unromantic motherfuckers I’ve ever met, but let’s do this.”
Keon wraps his arm around Kira’s shoulders. “I’m in.”
I look at Kira, and she smiles. “I’m all the way in.”
With a plan forming in my mind for the ceremony, I show them around my first home. The place that shaped me into the man that I am, but didn’t define who I wanted to be.
I am, and always will be, a Savior.
