Chapter 15 Evidence and Clearance
"Zhang Muzhe. Cheng Yanqiu."
An officer held up his badge, voice stern.
"You two are suspected of hiring someone to harm He Qingwei's mother, and of directing others to frame He Qingwei with a false food-poisoning claim."
"You also spread rumors online, leaked He Qingwei's personal information, and steered public opinion into cyberbullying her, seriously violating her rights."
Zhang Muzhe's smile froze. "You... you're talking nonsense..."
"The evidence is solid. Come with us."
Two officers stepped forward and stood on either side of him.
A market regulator raised a test report and announced loudly, "Regarding the online claims about food safety at Heji Braised Duck Snacks, we have completed testing."
He paused, looked around, and raised his voice even higher. "The results show that every sample meets national standards!"
"The so-called 'food poisoning' was pure framing."
The scene erupted.
"Oh my god! It was this couple all along!"
"So vicious! They couldn't beat her in business, so they hired someone to hurt her mom and then framed her with rumors! They're not even human!"
"We were used as weapons!"
"I knew He Qingwei wasn't like that! She's sold Braised Duck Snacks for three years. I've eaten them for three years. Never a problem!"
The crowd spat toward them in disgust.
When Zhang Muzhe was led away, his legs went soft and his face turned deathly gray.
Cheng Yanqiu collapsed to the ground, covering her face and sobbing.
The market regulator tore the seal off my stall.
"Ms. He, you may resume business."
I drew a deep breath and bowed deeply to the officers from the heart. "Thank you!"
Warm applause and cheers burst from the crowd.
