Chapter 5 The Distance After Marriage
After we married, Mu Jinci kept me at arm’s length.
Whenever I tried to get close, she’d push me away.
At first I didn’t understand. I’d ask. She’d say she was tired.
Then Chen Yi came back into the picture.
Right when I loved her most.
With him, she was attentive, gentle, completely devoted.
She made him chicken soup, brought him lunches, took care of him when he was sick—things she never did for me.
I wanted to know what made Chen Yi so special that he got all of her without trying.
I tried asking her about their relationship.
She brushed it off. “Just old friends.”
Then she kissed me and changed the subject to dinner plans.
I knew she was dodging, but I was helpless against her.
She’d hurt me, then sweeten it with affection, and I’d stay—too weak to let go.
Sometimes I envied Chen Yi.
How did he get everything I couldn’t, so effortlessly?
Eventually, I understood.
If I couldn’t have it, dragging it out only hurt me more.
Why not let go?
I looked at her calmly as she scolded me again.
“Su Yueming, there’s a limit to Being Jealous. What’s with that Being Sarcastic face?”
