Chapter 3 Staking a Claim

Xie Yiheng's gaze on my face was too strong to ignore.

Even Gu Chaonan noticed something was off.

He frowned, his voice turning cold.

"You know A Yu?"

Hearing my name, Xie Yiheng's lashes trembled.

His bloodless thin lips looked even paler.

I spoke first.

"We were high school classmates. We met a few times."

Xie Yiheng recovered quickly.

He propped himself up with one hand and gave me a polite smile.

"Wen Yu, long time no see."

Gu Chaonan's expression eased a little, but he took my hand.

He deliberately showed off the diamond ring.

Like staking a claim, or like a warning.

He picked up where I left off.

"Not as handsome as me. Stop looking at him."

I couldn't help laughing.

"Shameless. Who brags about themselves like that?"

The tense atmosphere gradually faded.

I didn't look at Xie Yiheng again.

As if we were just strangers who had crossed paths a few times.

Gu Chaonan only had some scrapes. Nothing serious.

After I finished his discharge paperwork and turned around, Xie Yiheng was right behind me.

His right hand was in a cast. He looked a bit battered.
