Rorik has taken witches before, but he had been trying to become a better vampire until Aurora crossed his path and the ceaseless chatter of other minds finally stopped.

Aurora has lost most of her memories to a powerful witch who is also her mother, the same woman who created Rorik and the only one who might break his curse.

He keeps her captive in the hope she will help him find that witch, though her room is comfortable, fresh books arrive each day, and chef-prepared meals are sent three times a day.
