Chapter Fourteen

Big Dick was standing near his bike, checking up and down the street, searching for any sign of one of the Twisted Bastards MC.

It had been quiet. He had slowly been cutting off their ability to get around, hiding in plain sight.

Larissa had already opened the bakery, and he had every intention of going inside and being with her, just when most of the customers had left.

He didn’t need them to see his rejection.

His feelings for Larissa were so strong.

All of his nights and days were spent thinking about her and the way he could make it up to her.

Running a hand down his face, he was already looking into property. There was no way he was going to allow his kid to grow up without him around the whole time.

He looked around the streets, and nothing was out of place. He recognized the people, and there were some that gave him a nod of acknowledgement and few that tried to give him a wide berth.

When were the Twisted Bastards MC going to make their next move? They were all being cautious. The whole club was on high alert, but it wouldn’t be long before Cadeon made a mess.

“Big Dick?”

He turned to see Hailey walking toward him.

“Yes?” he asked.

He hadn’t really spoken to Hailey, not even when it came to dealing with his sister Harlow.

“Uh, I was with Larissa last night and, well, she said something to me and I think I need to tell you.”

He frowned. “What is it?”

There had been doubts about Hailey, up until the shooting and her finding out Kinky had been using her. They all realized they had made a massive error in judgement when it came to Hailey, and it had been nothing but coincidences.

“Do you know why she was fired from the library?” Hailey asked.

“Lack of funding.” He didn’t have time for this shit.

“Actually, she refused to sleep with a Mr. Wellox—”

“Wilcox?” Big Dick knew him. He was a pretentious piece of shit who thought he was better than everyone else because he came from money.

The guy was a fucking coward who thought he could throw money at everything.

It didn’t stop the fact the library didn’t get funded and rather than take it out of his own pocket, he fired staff. “Wait? What?”

“Wilcox gave Larissa an ultimatum. She either loses her job, or she sleeps with him. She lost her job,” Hailey said.

“Why are you telling me this?” Big Dick asked.

“Because I don’t think she has told anyone what happened, and I felt you should know.”

Hailey frowned at him.

“What?” he asked.

“She’s still in love with you, you know. You shouldn’t give up.”

He folded his arms and looked at her. “You did with Kinky.”

“He used me. You didn’t use Larissa.”

This made him frown. “What?”

“You’re here, aren’t you, trying to figure out how to make it right?

You love her, but you don’t know how to tell her.

I’ve watched you. I’ve seen how many times you’ve tried to make it right.

I’ve seen the vans of gifts being rejected.

I know how hurt Larissa is, but I had a feeling there was more to this than met the eye.

Also, I might have also talked to Carlos. ”

“Carlos, what the fuck are you talking to him for?”

“I like Raven. She doesn’t mince words, and she keeps it real,” Hailey said.

He didn’t even know why he was having this conversation with Hailey. She was Harlow’s friend. “How does you having to talk to Carlos change anything?” he asked. He didn’t even know why it mattered to him.

“He was never going to call in the bet,” Hailey said.

“He told me he’d seen the way you were looking at Larissa.

No matter where she went, you were always following her.

You’ve got feelings for her, even if you don’t realize it.

Doesn’t change the fact you still have feelings for her.

You love her, which is why you’re always here, and this has nothing to do with the baby.

That’s why I’m telling you about her old job.

” Hailey wrapped her arms around her body as it was getting cold, and she only had on a thin t-shirt. “I’ve got to go. Bye.”

Big Dick watched her walk away.

Smokey had never investigated Wilcox. When Larissa said funding had been cut, what was the point?

Everyone knew that places like libraries lost their funding all the freaking time.

Most public services did. There was no reason to go hunting for that kind of thing, because that was what happened. Now, he was curious.

Pulling out his cell phone, he made a few calls, and all it took was a few to the right people who owed him some favors.

Over the years, many people, some powerful, some not, had asked him to find things for them.

He was able to find anything. Unless it was fucking Cadeon of the Twisted Bastards MC, but he wasn’t going to dwell on the shit he couldn’t do.

He’d collected a few favors over the years, and this helped to call a couple of them in. Once he was done, he made one call to Smokey, explained everything he had just learned, and got the instructions he knew were coming.

Wilcox was a wealthy dickhead. He lived in a nice, big house, constantly flaunting his wealth.

Did he really believe his money saved him?

Big Dick got into his house and looked around at the few family photos.

His wife and kids were in a few of them, but Big Dick knew that was all bullshit.

The wife was rarely home. Often vacationing somewhere as far away as Wilcox’s money could get her. Big Dick didn’t blame her.

Wilcox was a piece of shit. When Fort Clover needed to build a library, and some kind of planning permission was revoked, it was going to be the end of the library.

However, Wilcox owned the building that was now the Fort Clover Library and had been for quite some time.

Only, it hadn’t come without a cost. First of all, Wilcox never let the town forget what a hero he was.

Sometimes, if he thought the conversation wasn’t going his way, he’d drop in little hints of what he truly wanted the building for.

Making it seem someone else got the worse end of the deal, until someone said how amazing and wonderful he actually was. The guy was a piece of shit.

And now, the funding hadn’t been dropped or revoked.

The funding had in fact gone up. Larissa shouldn’t have lost her job, and the current staff that were employed there shouldn’t have had to take a pay cut.

The library was a huge success. Big Dick didn’t know how a library that loaned books out for free was a huge success, but he also wasn’t going to criticize it.

As part of the deal for the town having Wilcox’s building for the library, he negotiated being the one in charge overall. Although he didn’t have any skills in running a library and didn’t know what the fuck he was doing, he hired someone else to do that.

Taking a seat in the fucker’s office chair, Big Dick put his feet up onto the desk and made sure the mud he’d stepped into slid right off and onto the desk. It was a shame he didn’t step in dog shit.

Wait ... a dog. Maybe he could get Larissa a dog to prove he was serious about this shit. He wanted the whole thing—Larissa, a family, a dog, a house, all of it.

But would a dog be too stressful for her? Fuck. He didn’t know what to fucking do. This was a royal pain in the ass, and not something he wanted to deal with. It was pissing him off.

He gritted his teeth as he heard the sound of the front door opening, and that could only mean one thing. Wilcox was home.

The man didn’t say anything, but Big Dick was turned, facing the doorway, with the door wide open. Wilcox didn’t make a sound, and Big Dick just sat there, waiting.

He didn’t have to wait long before he was at the doorway, and the moment Wilcox saw him, Big Dick smiled.

“What are you doing in my house?” Wilcox asked.

“I figured you and I could have a little chat,” Big Dick said.

“I’m calling the police. This is breaking-and-entering.”

Wilcox already had his cell phone out, pressing the numbers.

“You go ahead and call the police, and I will just click this little button and have a few of your secrets exposed to the town.” Big Dick looked at him and had his finger on the button, ready to press it.

Wilcox frowned. “I don’t know what game you’re playing, but you have no right to be here. I don’t do business with you.”

“Actually, the moment you propositioned my woman to keep her job, you made this my business,” Big Dick said.

“Your woman? I have not touched your woman.”

“Larissa Adams.”

Wilcox went pale, and Big Dick stood.

There were two ways of handling this. In the past, Big Dick would have done this the good old-fashioned way, but instead he pressed the button on his cell phone.

“What did you do?”

“Oh, just released a video to everyone’s cell phone with all the concrete evidence of you stealing funds from the town, using it to pay off your gambling debts and addiction to hookers.” Big Dick tutted. “Not to mention your dirty deeds that have nothing to do with the library.”

Wilcox got a little ping, and he opened up his cell phone, along with all the paperwork and evidence that showed his guilt.

“You will pay for this,” Wilcox said.

“Probably.”

Big Dick moved in closer. “But you made the mistake of going after Larissa. I would have left her alone, but you had to go and make a move on her.”

“And she was a terrible fuck,” Wilcox said.

He grabbed the man around the throat and began to squeeze it until there was no air coming out of his windpipe.

“Be careful. I know Larissa was not touched by you. You think to rub her name in the mud, then I will be quite happy to leave you dead, but making it look like you took your own life. Do you hear me?”

He didn’t lighten up his hold on the man’s neck.

“I can’t hear you.”

After another second, just watching the panic sink into his eyes, he finally let him go, and he started to gasp for breath.

“I hear you.”
