Chapter Twenty-One #2

He kissed her. He loved this woman, and he couldn’t believe he had nearly lost her. He counted his blessings every fucking day that she had found it in her heart to forgive him.

“I’ll be back,” he said.

He knew she wanted to tell him to stay, but he had to do this. He had to go check on the club and get updates. He needed to know if this was just Erick running his mouth, or if it was an actual attack.

Leaving the bedroom, he made his way toward the main clubhouse and stepped outside, just as he saw Hunter and Harlow’s car drive into the parking lot.

The moment he caught sight of Hunter, he knew this was an attack.

Blood was pouring down Hunter’s temple. Drew, his dad, stepped out of the car, holding a shotgun.

“Was there a Twisted Bastard on your property?” Big Dick asked.

“There were three,” Drew said.

“If it wasn’t for your dad, I would be dead,” Hunter said.

“What is going on?” his mother asked. “We were suddenly woken up by Hunter banging on the door, and then as your father was making his way downstairs, someone crashed through our dining room doors and started shooting.”

Big Dick looked at his father. “I always carry my shotgun at night, son. You know this.”

There was a reason Big Dick was good at shooting. It was because he was taught by the best. His father had always insisted on a man being able to take care of his property. Although, he had never seen his father use it.

Suddenly, his dad moved in closer. “I want to warn you there are three dead bodies in my home.”

“I’ll take care of it,” Big Dick said.

His father nodded. “Is this bad?”

“Erick has been taken.”

His mother gasped. “What?”

“He is still alive, as far as I can tell.”

“So,” Hunter said, coming toward them. “Three men at your parents’, Erick being taken.”

“There was a guy waiting for me,” Big Dick said.

“And Hunter took care of one,” Harlow said.

Just then, Smokey, Rocky, and Elijah came in on their bikes, along with Ugly Beast and Raven. They filled the carpark.

Callum, Michael, and Bernard were there, each of them looking a little confused. The moment they all realized Erick had been taken, each of them stopped and gave him a chance to think.

“Where’s Jude?” Big Dick asked.

“He’s out of town,” his mother said. “He had a convention to go to.”

“Call him. I want to make sure he is okay,” Big Dick said.

There had been men at each of his brothers’ locations.

“Are you okay?” Smokey asked.

“We need to get to church, and we need to go now.”

Within ten minutes, church was full and Big Dick didn’t sit down as he had the cell phone on speaker. They heard Erick groan. There were people in the background, muffled conversations, but they were still driving. Big Dick had no choice but to ignore it.

“Why would Cadeon target you?” Smokey asked.

Big Dick looked toward Smokey. “I have no idea. I was the one whose cell phone he took, but why wait until now?” he asked. “Why wait to go after my family?”

He frowned. None of this made any sense.

“How many enemies do you have?” Carlos asked.

“I have a shit ton of them, why, you want to start counting them?” Big Dick asked. “The whole fucking Twisted Bastards MC are my enemy, because I had been pushing them out of their little hidey-holes like the fucking rats they are.”

He was losing his temper.

“No, this is not club,” Carlos said. “This is personal. When someone comes after your family, this is personal.”

And there was only one name that kept ringing through his head.

“It can’t be him,” Big Dick said. “He doesn’t have the means to do that.”

“Who are you talking about?” Smokey asked.

Big Dick turned to look at Hunter.

“Why the fuck are you looking at me?”

“Andrew Lowe.”

“The slippery weasel that was ... attempting to date Harlow?”

“And then Larissa,” Big Dick said. “Fuck. I thought he was fucking innocent when he gave keys to a supposed club member. Fuck.”

He turned on his heel about to make his way out of the church meeting.

“Where are you going?” Smokey asked.

“I’m going to put an end to this shit, once and for all.”

“You’re not going alone,” Smokey said.

“I need to handle this.”

“Brick, you go with him.”

Brick put two fingers up to his temple and saluted Smokey.

“You stay in touch, and if we hear anything, we’ll tell you.”

“George?”

Big Dick froze as he had left the cell phone that still had a live connection to his brother. He quickly moved toward it and pressed his palms to the table.

“I’m here, Erick. Tell me what is happening.”

“They’ve chained me to ... a post. Fuck, they broke my leg.” Erick whimpered. “I can’t see out of one eye.”

“Did they ask you anything?”

“No, nothing.”

“Is there any way you can give me your location?” he asked.

“I don’t know. They threw a bag over my head and threw me in a truck. Are you coming to get me?” Erick asked.

“I will,” Big Dick said.

He knew it was going to be hard to find his brother.

“Is there any way you can make this easier for me to find you?” he asked.

“I don’t know.”

Big Dick gritted his teeth. “I’ve got an idea of how to find you. Do me a favor, try and stay alive.”

“Okay, but if I don’t make it, I just want to tell you—”

“Shut the fuck up, Erick. You’re going to stay alive. I’m just advising you to be fucking quiet and not piss them off,” he said.

Erick snorted. “Fuck you, brother.”

Big Dick smiled. He had to get to Erick and he had to make sure he stayed alive.

“If you need anything, the club is going to have this cell phone.”

“They’re there?” Erick asked.

“We’re all here,” his club said in unison.

It was strange, but he was pretty sure he heard his little brother breathe a sigh of relief.

He and Brick didn’t linger. He couldn’t. They were on a clock.

With Erick taken, they didn’t have a lot of time to get this done right. Once on the bikes, he took off, heading in the direction of Andrew Lowe, and as he got closer to the bastard’s house, he couldn’t help but think about the last time he was there.

Andrew had come out of nowhere, and all of a sudden, he was everywhere. He had come back and was making friends with Harlow. When there was no sign of that, he moved his attentions to Larissa. The man was a fucking coward, and had run away.

Big Dick frowned. Andrew had gotten away from the bullets. Had that been a coincidence, or because that little bastard had been working for the enemy? He was angry that he hadn’t checked it out more. It seemed so fucking legit.

And now, he had been the stupid fuck. The Twisted Bastards MC had known to go after his family, and that had never happened before. Erick was hurt, and could be dying.

Arriving at Andrew’s house, he saw there was no truck, no car, nothing.

He climbed off his bike and pulled out his gun, already locked and loaded.

Pulling out a small flashlight, he lit it up and started to make his way outside of the property.

As they rounded the back, they came to a stop, because the stench was horrendous.

“Wait a fucking minute,” Brick said.

They shone the flashlights, and Big Dick saw the dogs that had been killed.

“Didn’t the bakery get a brick thrown through its window with a message written in dog’s blood?”

Big Dick nodded. “Yeah, it did.”

“Do you think this could be the place they got it?”

“I’m starting to think so.”

The house was deserted. There was no sign of anyone living there, at least not for some time.

“He must have done a runner,” Brick said.

He shook his head. “No, the Twisted won’t take him on. He’s a coward. He is nothing more than a resource to them. They’ll kill him when he’s no longer useful.”

“Right now, we don’t know where he is, so what are we supposed to do?” Brick asked.

“We go to the only person that would know.”
