Chapter Thirty-Three
Lily
My body flies into the air and crashes down on my right side. Discomfort darts through every limb of my body. I can’t move even if I try to force myself. I can feel a breeze, with little droplets of water.
Water, god, I need water.
I try to swallow, to open my mouth. My lips feel glued shut with how dry they are. I try to force an eye open, but slam it shut when the sun sizzles my vision. My body bounces up again to land back on my right.
“Ugh, this bitch just doesn’t quit.”
I break my eye open, forcing my vision to clear.
This time, it’s no longer Mateo. Someone else is walking toward me.
I look around to see we’re on a boat and there’s a built figure heading toward me with a needle in hand.
I try to squirm away, finding myself stuck between seats.
His hand pushes my face into the floor, and he injects the needle into the side of my neck.
