Epilogue
ROSALIE
Fat snowflakes fall from the night sky, coating the deck in a fresh layer of powder as Logan and I step outside.
The cold air nips at my skin, but I’m too distracted by the incredible view before me to care.
The moon is full, reflecting on the still water below.
In the distance, fireworks launch into the sky from one of the ski resorts, exploding in an array of colors as Lake Tahoe rings in the new year.
Logan wraps his arms around me, pulling me into his warmth as we watch the show. “Happy New Year, Rosie.”
I sigh. “Happy New Year.”
“Big things on the horizon. You ready to take on the new job when we get back?”
“I am.” I nod against his chest. “I’m excited to get started.”
Jett Ashford’s rebranding campaign went better than any of us expected.
After that, Avery started pulling me into meetings with other clients who were struggling with their image.
A few weeks ago, she told me Maxwell & Company was opening a new Brand Strategist position and asked if I’d be interested in filling it.
“I’m proud of you,” Logan murmurs, rubbing slow circles on my back. “You just keep kicking ass and taking names.”
I smile. “Damn right I do.”
He pulls back just enough to meet my eyes. “Hey, do you know what today is?”
I frown. “Is that a trick question?”
He chuckles, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “No. Obviously, you know the date on the calendar. But there’s another reason this particular day is special.”
I think about it for a moment, completely stumped.
“I’ve got nothin’.”
Logan’s lips quirk. “Exactly ten years ago today, at almost this exact time, I finally had the nerve to kiss the girl of my dreams for the first time. It was a kiss I’ll never forget.”
I grin, thinking about that night. I hadn’t made the connection until now that it’s sort of an anniversary of ours.
“Is it because that’s the first time you felt my boobs?”
“Well, yes, that too.” He laughs. “But more so because before your brother interrupted us, I remember thinking to myself that I’d be perfectly happy kissing your lips for the rest of my life. And now…” He lowers himself to one knee.
My breath catches as my brain pieces everything together. “Logan…”
He gives me a crooked smile as he opens his palm, revealing a ring box with a delicate oval-cut solitaire set in a thin gold band that catches the moonlight.
“Rosalie Elena Morales, I have loved you for so long, I honestly don’t remember what it feels like to not love you.
But over the last ten months, that love has grown into something so monumental, most days, it feels like my chest is going to burst because you make my heart so full.
You are my best friend, my living dream, my entire world.
And if you’ll do me the honor, I will spend the rest of my life proving it to you. ”
He takes his gloves off, pulls the ring out of the box and holds it up toward me. “Marry me, Pip.”
My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard as a tear rolls down my face. “Was there a question mark at the end of that, or…? Cause I’ve gotta be honest, I’m a little unclear.”
Logan’s chest rumbles with silent laughter as he shakes his head. “Only you, Rosie. Only you.”
I peel off my gloves and decide to stop torturing the poor man. “Of course I’ll marry you. Gimme the ring.”
His eyes sparkle with amusement as he slides the ring on my finger.
As cool as I’m trying to play it, my hand trembles as he does it, which does not go unnoticed. Logan sees me like no one else ever has. He knows I hate drawing attention when I’m anxious, so he just gives my hand a reassuring squeeze, which instantly soothes my nerves.
The second the ring is in place, I tackle him, taking us both to the ground. We’re only wearing parkas, so we probably shouldn’t be rolling around in the snow, but neither one of us cares as we make out under the glow of the moon.
Logan pulls back just enough to cup my face, brushing his nose against mine. “I love you, Pip.”
I grin, leaning into the bunny kisses. “I love you. Now take me inside before we get frostbite. And we should probably have some kind of dirty celebration since you put a ring on it.”
I belt out a surprised laugh as Logan abruptly stands with me in his arms, running toward the cabin. “Baby, we’ve got a lifetime of dirty celebrations ahead of us.”
I smile.
Bring it on, Edwards.
