Chapter 2.
Standing in front of the full-length mirror, Brian could hardly recognize himself.
The man staring back was a stranger, a perfectly sculpted figure from a magazine.
Gone were the ill-fitting work clothes, the worn jeans, and the faded t-shirt.
In their place was a pristine black power suit, tailored to perfection, the fabric a rich, matte black that absorbed the light.
The tie, a brilliant emerald green, was a direct echo of Constance's eyes, a deliberate choice that she had made.
The tie was knotted perfectly, the dimple at the top of the knot a sign of a professional hand.
He felt like a costume, a role to be played, but the man looking back was so confident, so powerful, that he almost believed it was really him.
The suite was a world unto itself, an apartment that occupied an entire floor of the tower.
The walls were a deep, soothing gray, and the furniture was a collection of sleek, minimalist pieces that were more art than function.
Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the Los Angeles skyline, a glittering carpet of lights that stretched to the horizon.
It was a space designed for a king, and Brian felt like a trespasser.
Constance’s presence was the only thing that grounded him.
She had shaved him herself, a ritual of intimacy that was both terrifying and deeply sensual.
The razor, a straight-edge razor, was a work of art, a gleaming blade that she handled with a steady, practiced hand.
It was the closest shave he had ever had, and it left his skin feeling smooth and impossibly soft.
He had felt the cool steel against his throat, and the trust he had in her was absolute.
When she finished, she had kissed his cheek, a soft, reassuring gesture.
"You look like you belong now," she had whispered, the words a gentle command.
He locked eyes with her in the mirror, his reflection a perfect match to hers.
She was wearing a simple, tailored black dress, a uniform of sorts, and it seemed to highlight the breathtaking beauty of her face.
"When we are in front of the media," she said, her voice dropping to a serious tone, "there will be no personal touches between you and me.
Mrs. Dranning will be the one to kiss you on the cheek after you sign.
She will then hand you a key… it's symbolic, the key to Dranning Corporation…
and then she will leave. Do not worry. She will be waiting up here for you. "
Brian felt a new wave of panic. He was about to be the center of the media's attention, and he was completely unprepared.
He was an actor in a play he hadn't rehearsed for.
"Then you have a late dinner," she said, her voice returning to its soft, seductive purr.
She leaned in closer, a silent invitation in her eyes.
"If you desire, Miss Holly and I can be here, as will Mr. Dranning's three lovers. "
The unspoken offer hung in the air, a silent question. Brian had to ask, had to know what was expected of him. "I have to ask," he said, his voice a low whisper, "what is expected of me with the four of them?"
She smiled, a slow, sensual curve of her lips.
"If you want, they will be willing. I know Mrs. Dranning does not wish to marry you, but she will...
'fuck you'... if you desire," she said, her voice a calm, matter-of-fact tone.
The word, so crude in her elegant mouth, sent a shiver through him.
Brian smirked. He was not dismissing that idea.
Mrs. Dranning was fucking stunning, and she had a body like a supermodel, the kind of body that was designed for sin.
The thought of being with four of the most beautiful women in the world, of having them willingly surrender to him, was intoxicating.
"Mr. Dranning never had any kids," he said, the thought suddenly occurring to him. He was building a new life, a new dynasty, and the question of heirs was now a very real possibility.
She nodded, her expression growing soft. "Mr. Dranning could not have kids. He wanted them, but he just couldn't." The words were laced with a hidden sorrow, a brief glimpse into the man who had owned everything but could not have the one thing he truly desired.
She looked at the clock on the wall, a digital display that was both precise and unfeeling.
"It is time," she said. She turned him around and looked him up and down, a final appraisal.
"You look perfect," she whispered. She kissed him on the lips, a long, deep, and passionate kiss that left him breathless.
When she pulled away, she used her finger to wipe away the lipstick from his mouth.
"No fear. You are the owner of Dranning now.
Go sign the papers, then we can celebrate later. "
He nodded, the words a promise. He took a deep breath, and as he walked toward the door, he knew that his life, as he knew it, was over. He was no longer a factory worker. He was no longer a man with a car that was falling apart. He was a new man, a man of power, and his name was Brian Thomson.
---
Stepping through the curtain, Brian was met by a blinding onslaught of flashes.
The cameras fired off like a barrage of machine guns, each flash capturing the man who was about to become the new CEO and owner of the Dranning Corporation.
He felt like a deer caught in headlights, and for a fleeting moment, he wished he was back on the factory floor, a life of anonymity and simple purpose.
A hush fell over the room as Mrs. Dranning, Anita, raised her hands.
She was stunning, a vision of refined elegance.
Her dress was a soft, flowing blue satin that clung to her curves, a work of art that highlighted her flawless body.
Brian's mind, a battlefield of thoughts and emotions, replayed Constance’s words: "she will...
'fuck you'... if you desire." The thought was both electrifying and deeply unnerving.
This woman, this goddess, was now a part of his life, a part of the deal he was about to make.
"If I may have your attention, please," Anita said, her voice commanding yet graceful.
"Today, we celebrate my late husband's wish by appointing a new, young face as the owner and CEO of Dranning.
There have been many speculations about the selection process, and I know there were a few young men who have come forward and told the media how they were unfairly kicked out of the process.
But there were rules set in place by my husband before he died, and they refused to follow those rules. "
She smiled at Brian, a warm, genuine expression that made him feel a little less like a prop and more like a person.
"It should also be known that Brian Thomson here…
he was chosen and he refused. He even turned and left behind one-point-five million dollars to go back to his old life.
" She smirked, a flash of playful humor in her eyes.
"I believe his words were, 'I am not who you seek. '"
A soft gasp went through the crowd. The media, the men and women who were used to lies and half-truths, were stunned into silence.
"There can be no doubt that an action to walk away from an opportunity like this, that is what my husband was all about. Only the one willing to walk away from it all would be the right one to own it all," she said.
She then pulled out a sleek, elegant pen and signed a paper on the desk before her. She smiled as she handed it to Brian. "One signature," she whispered, her eyes holding his.
Brian looked down at the contract. His name was printed in bold, and below it was a single line, a blank space where he would sign.
He took the pen, the cool metal feeling heavy in his hand, a tangible weight of the future.
He looked around the room, at the sea of flashing cameras and the expectant faces.
He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the scent of a new life.
This would be the most important signature he would ever sign.
He put the pen to the paper and, with a steady hand, signed his name.
The room fell into a stunned silence, broken only by the incessant flashes of the cameras.
Anita, with a radiant smile, rose to her feet and extended her hand.
Her grip was firm and confident as she shook Brian's hand.
She then leaned in and kissed his cheek, a soft, warm touch that left him breathless.
"The company is yours," she whispered, her voice a low, melodic purr. "Boss," she added with a playful smirk.
As she pulled away, she held up a golden key, its surface catching the light and glinting like a jewel.
It was larger than a normal key, intricately engraved with the Dranning Corporation logo and a swirling, ornate pattern.
This was not a key to a door; it was a symbol, a tangible representation of a two-hundred-billion-dollar empire.
"And with it," she announced to the media, her voice a strong, clear bell that echoed through the room, "the key to your new world.
" She placed it in his hand, its weight a surprising reality.
She then turned back to the crowd, her face a mask of triumph.
"I give you Brian Thomson, owner and CEO of Dranning Corporation. "
And then, the questions started. Hundreds of voices, all at once, a cacophony of shouting and clamor. Brian's head swam, and he felt a cold panic rise in his chest.
