7. Chapter 7 #4

Now he stands straighter, rolling his shoulders back.

“I am capable of many things, and Theo very well may be the only child in the world that I adore, even if it’s just because he resembles my long-term crush Harry Styles as a child, but still.

I am not a babysitter, and if you try to make me one, then consider this my resignation.

I will have the written version on your desk by tomorrow morning and will continue to work for you until we find my replacement.

” Nigel declares, taking a big deep breath of relief after getting all that out. The room then goes silent for a moment.

Then it’s filled with the sound of Min-Joon clapping loudly over the phone.

“YES, you go, Nigel, tell that stubborn bastard what’s what,” he laughs, cheering with his fists in the air. Why didn’t I hang up on this idiot earlier? At first, Nigel looks confused, but quickly recovers.

“Is that Min-Joon?” touching up his hair and rounds my desk, rolling my chair out of the way with his hip and curling his hand behind his ear.

“Hiii Min-Joon. How is it that someone like you looks that amazing despite looking like he’s just woken up?

” Nigel flirts, ogling the parts of Min-Joon’s chest that aren’t covered by his duvet.

Min-Joon just shoots him a wink in response.

I glare at Nigel, but he ignores me because he’s too busy making heart eyes at my best friend.

“Hey, cutie, I loved your speech. Been wondering how long it would take you to blow up on him like that.” Min-Joon laughs, flirting, knowing Nigel has a blatant crush on him.

“Oh, stop it, you. I just said what needed to be said.” Nigel waves his hand. “So how’s Korea? How’s the project going?” he asks. The two of them burst into conversation while I sit there wondering what the hell is happening, and why have these two idiots suddenly forgotten I’m right here?

“Oi, love birds. I’m still here; you’re both in my office, and you need to help me sort this out.” I point out, making them both look at me.

“Oh, but we already have the solution to your problem,” Min-Joon states, but clearly, I was the only one in the room who was missing something.

“And what’s that?” I grumble, folding my arms to my chest.

“Hire Luna as the Nanny!” The two of them yell in unison, as people do on children’s TV shows when they point out the obvious.

“Absolutely not.”

“Oliver, I understand you’re upset about what happened earlier, and though I said it was, what happened wasn’t mine or Miss Jackson’s fault, and you saw some of it yourself.

She’s great with Theo, amazing even. Her record is clean, and she went from crushing on you to hating your guts in the matter of a second.

She kept her mouth shut and did what was best for Theo.

” Nigel recites, making stupidly valid points I didn’t want to hear.

“Not to mention, she handed you your ass on a platter for being a jerk. How many women have done that?” Min-Joon chimes in, contributing something completely unnecessary, but reminds me why the hell I haven’t hung up on him yet.

“Look, dude, so she’s a little spunky? Nothing wrong with that, besides Theo is practically in love with her, and frantically so am I.” Min-Joon adds, again adding more things that aren’t needed.

“Yeah, me too, honestly,” Nigel agrees, holding his hand up. “Apart from the fact she isn’t a professional nanny, she has the best resume I’ve seen out of all the candidates and is available for the job with very short notice,” Nigel adds, but I keep silent.

Leaving him and Min-Joon to have a non-verbal conversation between them.

I hate every single point they just made because they were true.

As much as I disliked the woman, who openly called me a butt head in front of my boy and employee, I really can’t afford to lose the best and only assistant I’ve ever had.

“…at least hire her for the trial day, see for yourself what she is like with Theo for a whole day, make your own judgement because we are running out of time and need. I remind you that in two weeks you’re needed in New York for Ms Henderson’s assault case.

And if I have to, I’m more than happy to sacrifice going home to pop in on her and Theo if you still haven’t warmed her up by then.

” Nigel suggests. Coming from Brooklyn, New York, was Nigel’s home, and to offer to stay behind for my sake meant something.

The two of them then wait and do their best to stare me down until I cave.

“Fine! Hire her for a stupid trial day, but I’ll be watching her every move, and you need to still be looking, should I need to get rid of her once and for all.” I give in, admitting defeat, leaning back in my chair to watch the two of them cheer and give each other a high five through the phone.

“Very well, and I’m very glad to hear you say yes because I booked you and Theo a half day and arranged for her to have the trial day tomorrow afternoon,” Nigel reveals with a mischievous yet apologetic smile.

“You did WHAT?!”
