26. Chapter 26 #5

My cock twitches with excitement of having her again, as if three rounds weren’t enough, but as much as I wanted this, neither of us is giving in to sexual desires until I know everything there is to know about this arsehole.

“Nice try, sweetheart, but we’re going to finish this conversation first, then,” I shut her down, pressing my arousal against hers, making her shudder in anticipation beneath me.

“And only then can we do something so fun I’ll make you see stars,” I state.

“You know it’s times like this, where I can’t stand you all over again.” She sulks as I raise my hips again, shifting the pressure of my body against hers so she can concentrate.

“Says the woman who’ll be screaming my name in a matter of minutes.” I fire back, flashing her a smirk.

“Ugh, fine.” She shifted to lie on her back, but my arm is still draped around her waist, so she can’t escape. “But there isn’t really much to tell. I was young, and it was my first real relationship; the first was more of a school-type relationship that doesn’t count.”

She pauses for a moment.

“So, I had no clue that he gaslit me throughout our entire relationship, made me feel like I was lucky to be dating him.” Bitterness on her tongue, and so she should.

I know we hadn’t even gotten to the surface to know what kind of disgusting human being this man was, spending so many hours around my kid.

“I don’t have an issue talking about what he did to me; I got most of it out in Therapy.

” The mention of therapy made me think that shoving needles in my eyes, one by one, sounds far more fun than sitting in a room with a judgmental asshole with a clipboard, stealing a chunk of my earnings, just for me to sit there and talk about things that I refuse to talk about.

Nevertheless, if it helped Luna, good for her.

“It’s just that whenever it’s brought up, it just reminds me of how stupid I was back then, that I thought it was a good thing to be with someone like that.” She continues, but stops when I shuffle closer to her, holding her face in my palm.

“You have nothing to feel stupid about, baby. He was in the wrong for making you feel like that.” I correct her, piercing my gaze into hers.

“…you haven’t heard the rest yet,” she winces in shame, tugging on her bottom lip. Making my body heat rise so high, it’s seconds from shooting through the roof.

Hadn’t I heard the rest?

What else could there possibly be? But I knew for sure that dickhead was as good as dead.

“A-a few months after dating. I knew something wasn’t right. I’d seen what love looked like from my grandparents and my brother. I knew what it looked like to have someone accept all parts of you.” Luna recites, when the look of shame washes across her face.

“I knew all of that and yet…I turned a blind eye when he refused to eat the food I cooked because it smelled disgusting; I let him dictate what I wear, or openly express that one day I was acting too black and too Asian, the next.” She pushes out, causing the blood in my veins to boil over, my body now running hot with anger.

Who the fuck did that bastard think he was, putting down the beautiful woman I know her to be, when he looks no better than the rear end of a horse?

Men, sorry, no - Boys like him make me disgusted to be in the same species. No real man would dare think about saying those things to a woman, let alone having the outrageous confidence to voice them.

God, thinking about the next time I see his shit face sent excitement pooling down into my fists. The pleasure of beating the shit out of the guy made my heart pound with pleasure, but yet again, I had to direct my focus back onto Luna.

The defeated look on her face broke me. I didn’t like it one bit. It made me want to rid the world of anyone who dared to make her feel inferior and keep her safely protected in my arms forever.

My heart races in my chest as if it were barely beating as I recall her words through my head, “That one day I am acting too black and too Asian the next.” The sting of familiarity churned in my stomach.

I may not be able to relate completely, as I’m not one to wear my heart on my sleeve; however, I’ve had my fair share of not being able to pass as black or white.

Whether it was being called an inside-out Oreo by colleagues when I first started at Buckley & Kaine.

They, of course, had no clue I’d heard them, and instead of reacting then and there, I took great pride in proving how I was a better asset to the company, which ultimately resulted in their removal.

Or the sly comments that happened now and again in meetings that I shouldn’t be trusted with big projects compared to my Caucasian colleagues. But again, I had my ways of helping them receive their karma.

I hadn’t grown up the way Luna did, and I was exposed to things like racism and fetishes, all of which happened once I entered the working world, instead of in school as it did for most people of colour.

Luna was raised to embrace both sides of her culture, a healthy balance of what makes her as a whole. I’d only ever known about my background through the colour of my mother’s skin.

Fair and porcelain that aged like fine wine.

As for my sperm donor, the only thing I know about him is his skin colour. A man I know to be a few shades darker than myself, but that is all the information my mother was willing to share on the subject and after I’d reached a certain age.

I never pushed either.

“That’s not even the worst part…” Luna mumbles, breaking me out of my thoughts.

How could it possibly get any worse?

“The first time we were intimate…”

And it just did.

Suddenly, I no longer wanted her to finish her sentence. This man will be dead the moment she falls asleep.

“It’s not what you think…there was just a part of me that didn’t fully consent to it happening, and before you start plotting his murder-”

Too late.

“Macy had her own crack at him.” She finishes, and her mood suddenly picks up, and a small smile tugs at the edge of her lips.

“Let’s just say you don’t want to be on Macy’s bad side.” She hints, raising her eyebrows at me as a warning, and I’d love to know what Macy did to him. Not that it was going to stop me from seeking my own revenge, but still, it’d be nice to help brainstorm some ideas.

“To this day, I don’t fully know, and I chose to remain in the dark about it. All I know is he’s only got one testicle now.” She reveals, trying but failing to hold back the giggle that comes bursting out in the form of a snort.

I need to hear that again.

That honestly was the cutest sound that came out of her, and she made a lot of them earlier. After making the mental note not to make it on Macy’s bad side, I had to find a way to make her laugh like that again, but first, it was time to shift the conversation and keep that smile on her face.

“Good riddance, I bet he wouldn’t have used it properly anyway, but enough about that waste of human flesh,” I tug her closer to me and, lowering my body weight onto hers, the surprised yet pleased look on her face gave me just the spark I needed.

“Let’s have that fun you mentioned earlier,” I remind her, flashing a smirk as her arms loop their way around my neck.

“Shouldn’t we get some sleep?” She questions, but I know she didn’t mean a single word.

“Who needs sleep?” I shrug, raising a brow at her, pulling her thighs apart and slipping lower and lower underneath the covers.

Within minutes, she’s forgotten all about her past and remains in the present where the only thing she can think of is me, with her hands tangled in my hair and my name rolling off her tongue.
