28. Chapter 28 #2
Had spent the past twenty minutes telling me exactly what I already know, had not attempted to encourage Theo in the subjects he was exceeding in, and what made me even angrier is that had I let Luna sit in this meeting with us, we would be having an entirely different conversation, one where he’d be praising my child only for the temporal benefit of making him look good.
Which is why I didn’t fight against anything he said and instead chose to make a record note of everything, including making a written version of his words from him to use for later on, because this wasn’t the last you’d hear about this, Luna or not.
I was no longer entrusting the future of these children to this idiot, which is exactly why you’d think he’d take the stern look and the danger of my silence seriously, but no. He then rounds the desk to shake hands goodbye.
“Well, shall we see where Luna he’d be leaving here in a body bag. Tap outs were for wimps, but I guess he just proved that to me.
“I-I got it,” he whimpers in surrender, and I let go and step back. He stumbles to find his balance and pants to catch his breath after the effects of being crushed. However, I don’t care and make my way to the door.
“Well, Mr Stevens, seeing you again was a pleasure as always.” I recite sarcastically.
“Oh, and you might want to get that looked at, terrible thing being clumsy,” I add, grinning ear to ear, glancing at the redness surrounding his wrist and back of his neck, lastly out of place position his shoulder was in as I leave the room and close the door to find Luna and Theo I do hear the faint sound of the door opening, but then it closes slowly.
Smart choice; he made the right decision not to come after me if he had. His murder truly would be a form of self-defence; at least it’s how I planned to swing should the time come.
Not that he’d have a case to begin with, with no proof of what just happened. What with the CCTV camera being broken and conveniently won’t be fixed until tomorrow? I overheard the PTA squad complaining about it earlier in the classroom, so I took full advantage.
He hadn’t even noticed that before our goodbye handshake, I slipped on a pair of black gloves I had stashed in my pocket. There wouldn’t be a single print of mine on his skin that could be traced back to me.
If he does choose to try, he’ll only drag himself through the mud while trying to compete with my wealth and experience.
In the end, it boiled down to the fact that I knew the law like the back of my hand, declaring me unbeatable.
I slipped off the pair of gloves and disposed of them in the janitor’s car nearby, and with one quick scoop of antibacterial gel the school had on hand in each corridor, I washed my hands clean of my sin quicker than you could say sprain.
LUNA
Once Theo was tucked into bed, I expected Oliver to whisk us both into his bedroom, as we’d done pretty much every day this week.
But he mentioned needing to catch up on work as his day was cut short by having to come earlier than usual, so I agreed and headed to get ready for bed and remove my makeup.
Leaving my tinted lipstick to last, I relive what happened a few hours ago. Granted, Oliver didn’t know I was there watching the second half of his conversation with Greg, because if he did, would he have still said these words?
“If you so much as lay a hand on my woman again, I’ll snap your arm clean off and shove it down your throat.
” Those words trickle down my spine, just like they did the first time.
I’d never expect Oliver to say something like that, nor did I ever think he’d do something to Greg on my behalf, after all we’ve been over for years now.
He showed no sense of remorse or struggle, tossing a grown man into a vulnerable position and threatening to remove his arm just for making a pass at me.
Something I wouldn’t put past Oliver’s ability to do so, with that rugby-built physique of his…
but seeing me assert his strength like that was… eye-opening.
I’ve never been one to find possessive actions attractive, nor does the feminist side of me agree with Oliver’s use of words during his threatening statement. I was all for being an independent queen…
However, the other side of me wanted to bask in being protected by Oliver, seeing him come to my defence with total faith that everything I said was true. Someone who was determined to ensure no harm ever comes to me.
Reliving that, hearing his words loop over and over in my head, sends a river-sized flow down south between my thighs, to the point I can no longer think straight, and my body temperature starts to rise.
I blame Oliver and his endless streak of around-the-clock orgasms for the last week straight.
It was turning my brain into mush, so much so that hearing Oliver threaten another man in my defence got me excited in ways I can’t fully understand, but I do know it’s the reason I’m now standing outside his office instead of changing into my PJs and getting ready for bed.
The logical side of my brain tells me to go upstairs and wait for Oliver to come to me; he knew where to find me, but my heart and bikini region were already too addicted to having Oliver close that I couldn’t sleep or masturbate without seeing his face first.
As I’m convincing myself that I’ll only go in to say goodnight, I knock on the door before I could talk myself out of it, the knock a little louder than I’d have liked.
Silence fills the air for a few seconds, making me second-guess this and how it’s wrong to invade the last room in the house that was truly his and his alone, but then I hear him clear his throat.
“Come in.” He permits me. Feeling a little too excited, I open the door a little too quickly and burst into the room.
The moment our eyes met, I reel myself back in a little as I turn to close the door gently behind me.
Standing by it as I look around the room.
Oliver doesn’t say anything and watches me as I look from one end of his office to the other.
The walls are painted a dark grey shade, with oak wooden flooring much like the rest of the house. Both the left and right sides of the room mirrored each other, filled with the same black bookcase filled with books and case files, which I can bet he’s read every single one more than once.
