Chapter 29 #3

As he was talking, he was unbuttoning his shirt.

He took it off and tossed it over the chair in the corner of the room.

He unbuttoned his shorts and let them fall to the floor.

This beautiful man that made my loins scream was standing in front of me in nothing more than a very maxed-out pair of boxer-briefs.

I blushed and couldn’t remember why we weren’t going to have sex tonight.

“Um, I ah need to make sure that uhh, I get enough rest and not stay up um all night??” What the fuck did I just say? Was I serious right now?

“Was that a question?” he asked as he slowly approached the bed with his thumbs hooked into his waistband.

“You kind of sound like you are asking me why we aren’t having sex already instead of just wasting time talking about it.

I am not going to be able to give you any logical reason why I am not already between your legs.

” He turned his eyes to the ceiling and then back to me. “Nope, not a single one.”

“You want me to be honest?” I asked, looking at him seriously.

“What the fuck? Of course I want you to be honest. I always want you to be honest. I am not some asshole whose ego you need to worry about. If I did something or you feel a certain way, I want to know. The sooner the better.” He sat down on the bed and waited for me to answer him.

“Hey, it’s not that serious. I am sore; I need a day.

We have been having sex for two days, that’s it.

It may be safe to assume that I have had more orgasms in the last two days than I have had in the entire time before that.

I may be dehydrated, and I just drank like a whole bottle of wine.

And you keep testing my resolve and that is not helping because I get horny when I’m drunk and you look like.

.. that,” I said, motioning to his body.

“But damn it, my vagina is raw. Please, have a little mercy on me.”

A tightlipped smile spread across his face that kept getting bigger until he absolutely exploded into laughter. He looked at me and placed his hand on the back of my neck and rubbed my cheek with his thumb. He was still laughing, but he was no longer at the point of tears.

“I love you. Every part of you. You are the thing that I never thought existed. And I’m sorry I made your vagina raw.” He laid down next to me and kissed my lips gently. “It is a great day to be immortal.”

“What makes you say that?”

“I would never have met you. Or I would look two hundred years old and that is really fucking creepy. But quite frankly, I can’t really date women my own age unless they are a vampire.

Let me tell you, most women who are that old do know almost everything and have absolutely no problem letting you know that. ”

“Well, if I choose to become a vampire, aren’t you worried I will become a know-it-all two-hundred-year-old vampire?”

“After the first hundred years you will learn that I am the last person that you need to prove how smart you are to. I have been the one telling you how smart you are.”

He wasn’t wrong; he gave me confidence when I doubted myself.

I had never been this comfortable with anyone this way before.

He got me, like we had known each other for a hundred years.

He told me he loved me after knowing me for like two weeks and dating for like two days.

I didn’t even flinch. It felt natural and easy and when it was just me and him, everything else faded away.

Our worries, self-doubt, anger, even sadness—it all just melted away as soon as he was next to me, and there was no one else.

I wanted this forever, but logic says we haven’t had long enough to know shit. Every part of my soul said differently.

“I love you and it’s weird because I’m not even sure how. It’s too soon, right?”

“Maybe just don’t try to explain it and just let it be.” He kissed me again. I got up and pulled the covers back. I climbed into the bed and Maddox got up. “I will be right back,” he said, as he exited the bedroom.

He returned a few minutes later wearing a pair of grey sweatpants that rode low on his hips.

His ass was the only thing holding the damn things up.

Lord, please grant me strength. He had a bottle of water in his hand, and he held out his other hand closed fist down.

I opened my hand and he dropped two aspirin into my palm.

I put them in my mouth, and he opened the bottle and handed it to me.

“There better be underwear beneath those sweatpants,” I said, looking up at him.

“Want to find out?” he said, raising his eyebrows.

“Grrrrr.”

“Don’t ask me about my underwear and I won’t try to seduce you.

Deal?” he said, cocking his head slightly.

He put the top back on the bottle and set it on the nightstand next to me.

He walked around and got beneath the blankets.

I felt him curl up behind me, wrapping his body around mine like a cocoon.

I matched my breathing to his and drifted off with his scent lingering in my nose—this man smelled like heaven to me.
