15. Interlude

CHAPTER 15

INTERLUDE

(TIFFANY)

I call in sick to work on Monday morning, even though we’ve decided to come home today. I know the gossip in the office will be running wild, but I’m sure news of Gramps’ heart attack will have reached them by now. So, I’m hoping people will think that’s why I’ve taken an incredibly rare day off work.

I finally check our group chat when I’m sitting in Dec’s car, and we’re on our way back to the city. A massive argument between my sisters and Ben blew up in there on Saturday. Teddy even got involved, backing Jasmine up, and it’s nice to see everyone defending me.

One line of text jumps out from the screen in front of me.

Benjamin Littrell has left the chat .

“Ben left the group chat?” I gasp at Dec.

“Yeah, he left before I came to see you on Saturday.” Dec’s jaw is tight when he tells me this.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” I ask him.

An amused grin comes over his face. “I was a little bit distracted by fucking you and didn’t particularly want to talk about your very recent ex-fiancé and his actions.”

He glances over at me and raises an eyebrow. He looks sexy as fuck, and a shot of arousal goes straight to my crotch.

“Okay, fair call. I’ll forgive you, but only because I really like your cock,” I smirk at him.

“Is that all you like about me, Tiffany Carter? I feel so objectified,” he gasps.

“No, I like your tongue when it’s on my pussy and making me come,” I say in as even a tone as I can manage.

I feel satisfied as hell when Dec groans, “God, you’re making me hard. Don’t make me pull this car over and fuck you.”

My heart is pounding in my chest at the thought. I bite my lip and desperately want him to follow through on this threat, so I reach across and place my hand on the bulge in the crotch of his jeans.

“Mmm, I am making you hard, I see.”

Dec looks at me with fire in his eyes, then places his foot down hard on the accelerator. It’s less than a minute before he reaches a truck stop. He steers the car to the back of the area, away from any other people visiting the stop.

He undoes his seatbelt, moves his seat back as far as it can go, then leans over and releases me from the restraint of my seatbelt. Dec crashes his lips against mine and kisses me passionately, while his hand reaches between my legs and underneath my skirt to finger me. I moan in satisfaction as he brings me to orgasm.

Dec grins at me. “You like that, Sexy?”

“Fuck, yes,” I confirm, and he laughs.

Dec unbuttons his jeans and drops them to his ankles with his briefs. He reclines the chair’s back while I remove my underwear before he pulls me onto his lap, facing him. There’s not a lot of room, and my knees are squished against his muscled thighs in the small space as I lower myself onto his cock.

I lean down to kiss him while we fuck. Dec wraps one arm around my lower back while we move together, and he uses his other hand to play with my breasts. He reaches underneath my shirt and thumbs my nipple, causing me to moan softly into his mouth as we continue our kiss.

An orgasm builds within me, and when he lowers his hand from my breast to find my clit and stroke it as I continue to move on him, I explode into pieces and scream his name. I don’t know if that’s what tips him over the edge, but it’s not long before he comes inside me.

I collapse on his chest, panting heavily, and Dec wraps both arms around me before kissing me softly.

“I love you so much,” he whispers into my hair.

“I love you, too,” I whisper back, and I can feel his mouth move as his lips curve into a smile.

We lay like this for a few minutes in silence before I eventually say, “That was so fucking good.”

“Yeah, it was.” Dec tilts my face to his and kisses me deeply. “You’re amazing. I can’t believe I get to fuck you.”

I look into his blue eyes, feeling so content with him still inside me. “You like it, do you?”

“Just a bit,” he laughs.

“I’m glad—” I kiss him quickly, “—because I like it, too.”

He grabs some tissues from the glove compartment. We clean up as best we can before Dec pulls back onto the Interstate, and we continue on our journey. He links his hand with mine, and I don’t know why, but after our truck stop interlude, I feel as though my heart was never shattered at all.

It’s like my entire life is separated into two periods of time: Before Declan and After Declan.

Everything B.D. is dull and colored with gray in my memories. The two days of my time spent A.D. are painted in technicolor. My heart is fuller and lighter than it’s ever felt before, and the love I feel for him is intense.

I lean my head back against the headrest and close my eyes, listening to the sound of Dec’s breathing. A smile crosses my lips at the pleasant aching between my thighs from what we just did. This man is amazing.

"I have to say. I can't believe that I've spent so many years not fucking you, Declan McLean," I say with a laugh.

My pussy is aching from how much he's used it over the last two days and I don't think that I have ever been this satisfied in my life.

He looks over to grin at me. "We're just going to need to make up for all the missed orgasms over the next fifty years or so."

My heart flips over in my chest as he confirms that he sees us being together for the next fifty years. It's bizarre to think that last Monday I had freshly accepted Ben's proposal and was envisioning a future with a man who wasn't the one sitting beside me in this car right now.

I try to think about what a future with Ben would be like and I find that I don't want to. Dec was right when he said that I was unhappy even if I hadn't admitted it to myself at the time. The thought of that future in a world of gray makes me feel sorry for the me in an alternate universe where Ben doesn't cheat on me. The Tiffany in that world doesn't get this .

I look over at Dec and feel sorry for his alternate universe counterpart as well, allowing his Tiffany to marry Ben and with neither of them every being as truly happy as I am right now. They say you don't know what you've got till it's gone, but I say you don't know what you've got till you have it.

I finally know. After a weekend of turmoil and confusion, this is the moment. This is when it becomes clear for me that I want to spend the rest of my life with Declan McLean and I don't have a single doubt in my mind about that concept. He is the man that I am meant to be with.
