Chapter 5

Blayke

Alejandro hadn’t been kidding when he said we were riding straight through.

In the several hours since we’d been on the road, we’d only stopped once, and that was to get gas.

I was used to riding all the time, but shit, even my ass was beginning to hurt, and I was getting damn tired.

I wanted a break and maybe something to eat. Definitely needed a cup of coffee.

My helmet started blaring with an incoming call, and I sighed, answering it.

“What?” I growled, not giving a fuck who it might be.

It could have been Johnston for all I cared.

I was irate as fuck, which was rare for me since I was always a chill, laid back guy. I let everything roll off my shoulders.

But I’d been on the road for too fucking long.

“Noah’s got a flat,” Halo said. “Get Alejandro to stop. We’re gonna need to find a repair shop or something.”

I grunted, sort of thankful that her tire had gone flat on her so Alejandro would be forced to let us all take a break.

Ending the call, I switched over to calling Alejandro.

He answered on the second ring while I was easing my bike to a stop on the shoulder of the road so I could turn around to get back to Noah.

“Yes?” Alejandro asked.

“Noah’s got a flat,” I told him. “Turn around.”

He sighed heavily, like I was an annoyance, and hung up, but I saw the SUV he was in begin to slow, letting me know he wasn’t leaving us stranded out here.

By the time I pulled up beside Noah, she looked as tired as I felt and a bit pissed off.

I flipped my visor up and shut my bike off. “You good?” I asked her.

“I’m tired, and I think I ran over a nail,” she griped. “So no, Blayke, I’m not fucking good.”

I smirked. “You wanted to prospect, mama. This is the real life of an outlaw. You sure you still want to be part of this club?” I’d be disappointed if she said no and demanded we take her back home. But I wouldn’t force her to be here if she didn’t want to be.

She yanked her helmet off just as Alejandro drove up and came to a stop, blocking traffic coming in our direction but not seeming to give a fuck.

And when he stepped out, people just slowed down and drove around.

I swore, the man was fucking invincible.

Like he had some kind of fucking invisible shield around him.

“Let me fucking tell you something,” Noah snarled, storming up to me.

Halo’s shoulders were shaking with laughter as he watched the scene unfold.

I remained riveted by her, fucking obsessed with her explosive personality.

I had no idea how she contained such a big personality in her wiry little frame, but fuck, I was here for it.

I leaned forward, bracing my forearms on my handlebars. “Tell me something, mama.”

She sneered at me, her pink hair sweaty and clinging to her face and neck. “If you think this long ass drive is going to somehow break me, you’re fucking wrong. And I can’t wait to prove you and all the rest of you sexist assholes fucking wrong. You don’t know who the fuck you’re contending with.”

I raked my eyes down her body, my cock half-hard behind my zipper. “I think I know,” I rasped. “And for record, mama, I’m not trying to run you off. I want you here.”

She blinked at me, taken aback for a moment. Then, she scoffed and spun to face Alejandro, effectively dismissing me. And damn, why did her dismissal make me even harder?

Christ, I was so gone over her, and I’d barely known her a whole fucking day.

“I need a ride to a tire shop,” she told him.

He grunted, eyeing her flat tire. “I figured as much.” Sliding his phone from his pocket, he made a phone call in rapid fire Spanish, then ended the call.

“I have someone coming to get the bike. They’re only a few minutes out.

After they pick your bike up, we’ll go find somewhere to eat.

They’ll deliver your bike to wherever we’re at once it’s repaired. ”

She eyed him distastefully. “I’m not leaving my bike with someone I don’t know.”

“You are more than welcome to stand here on the side of the road and get hit,” he told her as he turned and headed back for his SUV. “Or you can be the smart woman I believe you to be and get into this SUV.”

“Nah,” I said, not liking the idea of her with any other man, even if that man was happy with another woman. “You ride with me.”

She curled her upper lip at me. “I’m not riding with you.”

My lips tilted up at the corners. “Mama, I think you forget who calls the shots here, and it’s certainly not you.”

She rolled her eyes. “Dictators aren’t my fucking thing, Blayke.”

I snorted a laugh. “They can be. In fact, I’d love it if they were.”

She stared at me for a moment, then shook her head in disbelief. “You have real bad luck when you’re thinking, don’t you?”

That time, my laugh was loud enough to pierce the air. “Christ, I really like you.” I patted my seat behind me. “Come on. I think food will help you calm down a bit.”

“Not having to deal with you would calm me down a lot more than food will,” she griped.

But nonetheless, she moved forward, already pulling her helmet down on her head.

Once she was behind me, she scooted forward and wrapped her arms around my waist, her slim thighs bracketing my hips and squeezing me.

Alejandro pulled into traffic, and I easily fell in behind him, enjoying the feeling of Noah riding behind me.

She belonged there. The way she felt pressed against my back… it was right.

I just had to convince her she belonged with me. Not like that would be hard or anything.

I snorted at myself. Who the fuck was I kidding? Wearing this woman down was going to be a challenge. But damn if I didn’t love a good challenge.
