31. -30- #3
Gone was my mischievous side that turned everything into chaos. Gone were my control-freak tendencies. The only thing that stayed was my will to do anything she wanted just for one look of those stunning eyes that looked at me as if I were the fucking sun.
“Who do you call in case of an emergency?” she disturbed my dreams about devouring her, and my brows furrowed in confusion. “Zyon or Malin?” she prompted when I didn’t reply. “You need to get rid of the body.”
“Me?” I scoffed, scowling at my phone in her hand. “I didn’t send her to the other side. She’s your mess.”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.” Ma vilaine shook her head slowly, placing the barrel of her gun under my chin and lifting my head so our gazes met. “Is that the proper tone to address your wife, Dorian?”
“A wife who just stuck a gun into my ass?” I countered, fighting with the restraints. My will to grant her every wish evaporated when she acted like a bossy bitch.
“Well, when you say it like that.” She lowered her head and brushed her nose against mine. The rough material grazed my skin, but didn’t stop the pleasurable shivers from running up my spine. “Take your pick, babe. Malin or Zyon.”
My stomach twisted with dread just from the thought of facing my brothers right now. Zyon would chew my head off for having a corpse in one of our hotels. Malin was the lesser evil, but fuck. He would be pissed.
“Malin,” I hissed, frowning when she stuck my phone into my face, unlocked the screen, and dialed Malin’s number. Three seconds later, he picked up.
“Room 33. Code red,” I said without greeting, and the line went dead. I shrugged when my crazy wife drifted her gaze between the disconnected call and me, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips at the bafflement in her eyes.
“You have about a minute to disappear,” I warned. “Unlock the cuffs and go.”
Abruptly, she straightened to her full height, finally understanding the danger. She threw my phone and the tiny key on the mattress beside my legs. Faintly, she touched my cheek before running to the door.
“See you around, handsome,” she yelled from the hall, the suffocating silence settling in the room when the last sound of her presence evaporated into the thin air.
Helplessly, I tugged on the cuffs, trying to miraculously free myself before my brother showed up. But he didn’t give me much time. Not more than thirty seconds after ma vilaine left, Malin appeared at the door of the hotel suite like the devil himself sent him to restore order.
“Hello, sunshine,” I chirped, plastering a broad grin on my face. “You’re quick.”
“What the fuck is going on?” he rumbled, scanning the room for threats.
First, he noticed my position, and his brows furrowed. But then his experienced eyes found the dead body, and his expression turned murderous.
“Dorian.” The warning in his voice was evident. I stained the holy ground of his precious hotel. “What happened here?”
“Technically, I was kidnapped again,” I said, flashing him my best innocent smile.
“Kidnapped?” he echoed, crossing his arms over his chest. “I remember you leaving the club with her.”
He nodded toward Leigh, lifting an expectant eyebrow at me.
“My jealous, obsessed stalker doesn’t like it when I spend time with other women,” I clarified, grimacing when a taunting smirk appeared on my brother’s face. “Yes, I lied to you before, but you already knew that. Zyon told you everything.”
He didn’t say a single word to confirm or deny my statement, but I was sure my brothers shared every piece of information.
“Can you uncuff me, please?” My polite tone was in stark contrast to the annoyance that ate me alive.
“First, tell me who she is,” Malin negotiated, showing no interest in helping me.
“I don’t fucking know,” I groaned, fighting the cuffs and my own embarrassment.
“You don’t know who chained you to a column and killed your lover?” He chuckled, raising my blood pressure.
He never laughed! Why did he have to do it now?
“Leigh isn’t… wasn’t my lover.” I rolled my eyes, shaking my head in irritation. Nobody listened to me.
“Sure.” Malin stepped closer, eyeing the marble pillar. “And how did this happen?”
He pointed at my naked body and the key at my feet that I couldn’t reach, evidently fighting with a grin to take over his expression.
The last time he smiled was two months ago, if I didn’t count the time he spent with Zyon’s daughter, Zara.
I should be happy about this achievement, but fuck!
I was humiliated and not in a sexy way that ma vilaine mastered.
“Can you stop?” I groaned, glaring at him. “We need to clean the room.”
“We?” he repeated as if I had terribly insulted him.
“Yes, we,” I confirmed, my patience running out. “It’s your business and my reputation that are at stake here. Are we going to risk exposure?”
He pressed his lips into a thin line, his familiar murderous glare finally making him look like Malin I knew my entire life.
“When I find her—” he threatened, unlocking the cuffs.
“Get in line,” I interrupted him, rubbing the sore skin around my wrists. The simple thought of getting my hands on her turned my anger and frustration into excitement. She just left, and I couldn’t wait to see her again. “That little menace is mine.”
