Chapter 17
BLITZ
The tension in my gut nearly doubled the moment Cage asked to speak privately with Aubrey. Every muscle in my body tightened, instinctively bracing for bad news, because any doctor pulling the woman I loved aside meant something was wrong, no matter how calm he tried to appear.
My gaze narrowed, zeroing in on Cage with a dark intensity I knew bordered on threatening, but I didn’t give a shit. Aubrey had just survived one nightmare, and I wasn’t about to let another blindside her.
She must’ve felt the tension radiating from me because she reached out, her hand curling around my arm. “Whatever you have to say, Cage, you can do it in front of Canyon and Tripp. No more secrets.”
A rush of pride flooded my chest, and my nerves eased a little under her soft touch. Kane and Edge exchanged quiet looks before silently slipping from the room, clearly deciding this conversation was best left to us alone.
Cage lifted both hands quickly, sensing the violent tension coiled inside me. “Relax, everything’s fine. I just need to discuss something I noticed in Aubrey’s blood work.”
I went rigid again instantly, heart slamming hard and fast. His words did nothing to calm the panic rising steadily in my chest, and my fists tightened at my sides.
If Cage had bad news, he’d better be prepared to fucking run.
My gaze narrowed dangerously, promising swift, painful consequences if his version of fine didn’t match mine.
Aubrey squeezed my arm gently, grounding me again with her steady presence. “Calm down.”
I forced a slow breath through my lungs.
“Fine,” I muttered, glaring at Cage, still silently promising retribution if this was anything less than absolutely fucking okay.
Cage’s expression softened into a knowing smile, amusement sparkling faintly in his eyes. “You’re pregnant.”
The breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding exploded out of me in a rush.
Relief and stunned joy slammed into me simultaneously.
Without even thinking, I scooped Aubrey into my arms, pulling her flush against me as I captured her mouth in a claiming kiss.
She laughed softly against my lips, her joy warming every shadowed corner of my soul.
The world felt right again, like everything had finally clicked perfectly into place.
I’d gone from sheer panic to overwhelming happiness in a split second, and my chest felt so damn tight it hurt.
Needing privacy more than air, I turned abruptly toward the door. Aubrey was secure in my arms, tucked tightly against my chest.
“I need to be alone with my old lady,” I grunted as I kissed her again, somehow also making it through the door and out into the clinic’s front room.
Tripp called after us, his voice carrying a teasing irritation. “Could you two at least pretend your relationship is celibate?”
“No,” I yelled back without slowing, earning another breathy laugh from Aubrey as she tightened her arms around my neck.
Tripp muttered something I didn’t catch, but it didn’t matter.
Aubrey was safe, mine, and now carrying my child.
I had everything I’d never known I wanted, and I wasn’t about to waste another second pretending otherwise.
I stalked down the hallway, already anticipating exactly how thoroughly I planned to celebrate this moment.
When we reached my room, I nudged the door shut with my foot, sealing us away from the world.
Aubrey was still tucked securely in my arms, and I took a moment just to hold her close, absorbing the gentle warmth of her body pressed against mine.
Her soft breath feathered against my neck, steadying the wild rush of emotions still crashing through me.
I set her carefully down on her feet, not quite ready to let go, but needing her eyes locked on mine as I confessed what weighed heavy in my heart.
“I need you to understand something, Aubrey.” I reached up to gently cradle her face in both my hands, my thumbs brushing lightly across her flushed cheeks.
“I want to prove how much I trust you. I thought I could do that by sharing some club business—letting you into that part of my life, because you deserve to know every part of me.”
She tilted her head, warmth and certainty shining in her beautiful eyes, her hand sliding up to rest gently against my chest. “Canyon, I don’t need proof. I know you love me. You don’t have to give me anything more than what you already have.”
Her quiet sincerity wrapped around me, soothing the lingering shadows of guilt that had taken root inside me. I stared into her eyes, recognizing a love so deep and fierce that it stripped away every doubt I’d ever had. My throat tightened, emotion swelling as I lowered my mouth to hers.
Our kiss started slow and tender, but it quickly ignited. Heat flared between us, fusing our bodies tighter, our breaths quickening into something urgent and hungry.
“I love you,” I growled against her lips, my hands sliding down her back to grip her hips and pull her flush against me. “You’re everything, Aubrey. My fucking everything.”
“I love you too,” she whispered, her voice catching with emotion as her fingers tightly clutched the fabric of my shirt, holding me like she’d never let go.
We moved to the bed together, clothes slipping away piece by piece as our hands feverishly explored, lips tasting and claiming every inch of skin revealed.
I laid her down beneath me, her body soft and welcoming, her hips lifting instinctively as I lined my cock up with her center.
Then I drank from her lips once more as I slid inside her tight sheath, joining us completely.
The fierce rush of pleasure nearly overwhelmed me.
“Never thought I could want you more, but knowing you’re carrying my baby? I’m losing my damn mind.”
I tried to hold myself steady, my eyes locked on hers as I moved inside her, slow and deep, savoring every shuddering breath and soft cry that fell from her lips.
But it wasn’t long before I couldn’t think about anything except the exhilaration of knowing I’d bred my woman.
My thrusts became faster, harder, and wilder until she screamed my name.
My spine tingled, and I closed my eyes, trying to hold myself in check for a little longer, savoring the feel of her pussy throbbing around my dick.
When I knew I couldn’t last another second, I slammed in as deep as I could go and exploded.
“Take every last drop, sunshine. That’s my baby. My seed. My girl.”
Aubrey clung to me and whispered her love before begging me to take her again.
This time, I took her slowly and reverently.
Each thrust carried promises neither of us needed to speak aloud—of forever, loyalty, and a future now growing inside her.
We clung to each other, our hearts racing and bodies tangled together in a wild dance of passion and love, until pleasure exploded, binding us irrevocably together.
In the aftermath, I held Aubrey securely against my chest, our breathing slowly calming, and our heartbeats falling into a shared rhythm. The world could rage outside our door, but here, with Aubrey safe in my arms, the only thing that mattered was us.
