A Very Hexin’ Mountain Vacation
RUE
I've been looking forward to this vacation for weeks.
Okay, maybe more like months. Ever since Caylix, Rhys, Kathan, and Slade told me they were planning it, really.
And now, the day has finally arrived. And here I am, packing my bags for the trip of a lifetime. A much needed month-long vacation with my mates. No distractions. No pack business. No supernatural relations. And most importantly, no hexin’ cell phones.
Plus it’s a chance to reconnect and enjoy some quality time together away from the demands of pack life.
Things haven’t been exactly easy with clearing out the corruption deeply embedded in the Witches Council. Not to mention becoming liaisons for vampire, shifter, and witch relations. Every day, some new obstacle pops up or a disgruntled voice starts gaining traction and we have to figure out how to put out the fires.
I wouldn’t want it any other way, though. We’re changing this world for the better. Already there have been several new relationships budding between witches, shifters, and vampires all over.
That said, I’m beyond looking forward to no interruptions. I swear as busy as we’ve been lately, we haven’t had proper sex in ages. A quickie or two in the shower here and there, but that’s not enough. I want more.
I can hardly contain my excitement, dancing a little as I stuff my favorite black dress into my suitcase, along with an assortment of skirts, shirts, and, most importantly, some secret lingerie I had made specifically for this trip.
My mates are going to lose their brew when they see me in it.
Once I’m finished, I give my bag a once over to make sure I haven't forgotten anything important. Clothes, check. Toiletries, check. Protection charms, check. Can’t leave home without those.
I take a deep breath and let out a squeal of excitement. I can’t wait to see what adventures await us on this vacation. And knowing my mates, it'll be anything but boring.
As I make my way to the living room, I find the four of them already gathered, their luggage piled up by the front door. Kathan and Caylix are deep in conversation, probably discussing the best route to our destination. Meanwhile, Rhys is practically bouncing out of his skin with excitement. And of course, Slade is lounging on the couch, petting Sucette with a smirk on his face as she sleeps peacefully on his chest.
“Ready to go, sunshine?” Kathan asks, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Absolutely,” I reply, placing my suitcase with the others. I don’t even attempt to pack it out to the car. My mates would never let me make it more than a few steps. “So, remind me. Where are we headed again? You’ve been a little secretive on the specifics.”
“Up to the mountains,” Caylix answers. “I found this secluded cabin near a lake. Perfect for some privacy and relaxation.”
I nod in agreement, grateful at the prospect of the peace and quiet of the mountains. Plus, I've always found nature to be a great source of magic and inspiration. My fingers are already itching for a charcoal pencil and we haven’t even left yet.
After Kathan gets everything loaded, and by that I mean, tetris’d into the back hatch, we all pile into the SUV, with Slade and Kathan claiming the spots on either side of me while Caylix takes the driver’s seat.
Rhys pouts as he climbs into the front, cradling Sucette in his hands. “I call sitting by Sadie after we stop at the first gas station.”
Kathan rolls his eyes, but doesn’t comment. He reaches across me, making sure my seatbelt is properly buckled before giving Caylix, who’s watching in the rearview, a head nod.
As we hit the road, the guys start talking about our plans for the week. Swimming, kayaking, hiking, stargazing... the whole nine yards.
“Think we could add a midnight skinny-dipping in there somewhere?” Slade suggests playfully, his blue eyes twinkling with mischief. Rhys, from the front seat, lets out a low whistle of approval. Caylix just grins, while Kathan chuckles in that deep, rumbling way of his.
“Hell, why wait till midnight?” Rhys adds, matching Slade’s enthusiasm, a possessive look in his eye that spends a spark straight to my clit.
“True. There will be no one there but us,” Kathan says, his nose dipping to the crook of my neck as he inhales my scent. I shiver.
“No one but us to hear your precious cries and screams of pleasure,” Slade adds, his fingers traveling up the silky part of my inner thigh.
“Now that’s more,” I say, tone breathy as my chest begins to heave.
Caylix lets out a growl from the front seat as someone honks. He swerves back into the correct lane just in the nick of time. “Fucking hell. No sex until we reach the cabin.”
Chuckling, Rhys reaches over and pats Caylix on the shoulder. “Sorry, mate. Someone’s gotta keep their eyes on the road.”
Grumbling in agreement, Caylix focuses on the road ahead. But not before shooting a glance from the corner of his eye at Slade, whose hand is still resting high on my thigh. The heat of his touch is sending shivers up my spine and I have to bite back a moan. “I mean it, no more sex talk.”
Slade pulls his hand away reluctantly. “Fine, for now. Raincheck, ma petite sorcière,” he says, winking at me. I can’t help but blush, thinking about later.
Leaning my head on Kathan’s shoulder, I close my eyes and let the gentle rumble of the road relax me. His arm comes around me, strong and comforting, as he presses a kiss to my hair. On my other side, Slade’s thumb idly traces circles on my leg, his touch both soothing and sparking at the same time.
Up front, Caylix and Rhys are debating the merits of taking the scenic mountain route versus the quicker interstate option. Knowing them, they'll probably compromise and do a bit of both.
I, on the other hand, am more interested in the small towns we’ll pass through along the way. One thing about becoming liaisons is we get to travel to different packs and covens often and I love getting to see parts of the country I never have before. It’s my favorite part of our newfound jobs.
As we drive, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude for these four men who have become my everything. Kathan’s stoic nature provides a sense of stability and strength, while Rhys’ boundless energy brings an infectious joy to our group. Caylix’s calming presence soothes any tension, and Slade’s snarky wit never fails to make us laugh.
The passing scenery outside the window creates a soothing rhythm, and I find myself drifting off, lulled by the chatter of my mates up front.
I’m awakened some time later by a hand on my knee. “Rise and shine, little witch,” Kathan says softly. I stretch and take in my surroundings. We’ve stopped at a gas station, just as Rhys wanted.
“My turn,” Rhys declares eagerly. We shuffle around, and soon I’m tucked against Rhys’ side. He wraps an arm around my waist and holds me near him, his warmth enveloping me like a blanket.
“Only a couple more hours to go, vixen,” he says. “I can't wait to show you the cabin. It has the most incredible view of the lake.”
The miles fade away as we drive deeper into the mountains. The paved road gives way to a bumpy dirt path that winds its way up the mountainside. The trees grow thicker here, their branches stretching across the road to form a natural canopy overhead. The last rays of sunlight filter through the leaves, creating dancing shadows across the interior of the SUV.
After about an hour, the trees open up to reveal a sparkling blue lake nestled between the mountains. Rhys lets out an excited whoop as the cabin comes into view near the shoreline. It’s a cozy log cabin with a wide porch and a stone chimney, looking like something straight out of a magazine.
The guys waste no time in unpacking, eager to get out and explore our surroundings, probably in wolf form. I, however, take a moment to admire the view from the porch, taking in the crisp mountain air and the sound of the birds chirping in the distance.
I take a deep breath, savoring the fresh air and tranquility surrounding me.
As I stand perusing the view, I feel two strong arms wrap around my waist from behind. I don’t have to turn to know it’s Caylix. His woodsy scent envelops me and I lean back into his muscular chest with a contented sigh.
“Beautiful, isn’t it, little witch?” His deep voice rumbles close to my ear.
I nod, placing my hands over his. “It’s perfect. Exactly what we needed.”
Caylix nuzzles my neck, his stubble tickling my skin in that way that never fails to make me shiver.
“You know what I need?” he murmurs, his voice dropping an octave lower. One of his hands slides up to cup my breast as the other presses me back against his growing arousal.
I bite back a moan. “What’s that?” I ask coyly, feigning innocence.
His hot breath fans against my neck, sending a spike of desire down my spine.
“You,” he growls, his other hand traveling up my bare thigh until he reaches the hem of my skirt.
I laugh, butterflies taking flight in my stomach. Not even ten minutes of being here and we already can’t keep our hands off each other. Then again… this is why I wore a skirt.
This vacation is going to be... eventful.
Bring it the hex on.
Kathan lets out a low, appreciative whistle as he enters the bedroom, stopping in his tracks when he sees me. “You look good enough to eat, sunshine,” he says, tone gravely.
His eyes darken when I approach him, holding the straps of my bathing suit out for him to tie. “Would you mind?”
“Not one bit.”
Kathan’s fingertips graze the back of my neck as he moves my hair out of the way, making goosebumps rise along my flesh. His fingers trace over my shoulders, down my back, before coming up to tease the fringe on the side of my breast.
“Nuh-uh, mister,” I say, turning to waggle my finger at him. “It’s lake time.”
He chuckles, tying the straps in a neat bow before sliding his hands down my arms.
“You’re lucky I’m such a gentleman,” he murmurs into my ear, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
I laugh, giving his chest a teasing push. “Since when?”
“Since now. Now go put on some sunscreen before you burn.”
“Make me,” I retort playfully, turning to face him. His eyes glint with mischief as he picks up the bottle of sunscreen and opens it.
“You asked for it, sunshine,” he says, a smirk playing on his lips as he squirts a generous amount onto his hands. Before I can react, he’s smearing the lotion onto my shoulders, his touch firm yet gentle.
His hands roam lower, spreading the cooling lotion across my stomach and down to my legs. He takes his time rubbing it in, making sure every inch of my skin is properly protected. His fingers dance along my sides, teasingly slow, and I can't help but shiver at the sensation. The way he makes such a mundane task feel so intimate is one of the things I love about him.
“All done,” he finally announces, when my chest is heaving with every inhale and my bottoms are hexin’ soaked. Ugh, gentleman, my ass.
Pulling back and wiping his hands on a nearby towel, Kathan extends a hand out the door. “Now, let’s get to the lake. The others are already waiting for us.”
The water of the lake is cool and refreshing against my sun-warmed skin as we wade into it. Rhys splashes us playfully, his wolfish grin contagious, while Slade lounges on the pier, sunglasses covering his eyes but not the bemused smile playing on his lips. Caylix’s head crests the surface of the water and he pulls in a deep breath, his eyes finding mine as soon as they open.
All of them are shirtless and looking as delicious as ever.
Ahh, a witch could get used to this.
Once settled into the rhythm of our day—conversations flowing as freely as the water around us, laughter echoing through the trees—I bask in the happiness that fills me no matter what we do or where we go.
As night falls and the sky is painted with stars, we gather around a crackling bonfire. The warm glow illuminates the group’s faces, flickering off Rhys’ mischievous grin and the glint in Slade’s eyes, catching the soft curve of Caylix’s lips as he laughs. Kathan lounges nearby, one hand running absently along my leg stretched out beside his.
The chill of the night air contrasts with the warmth radiating from the fire, and I pull a thick blanket around my shoulders. Caylix reaches over to tuck it snugly around me, his fingers brushing against mine. I look up to find him watching me with a soft expression, his eyes glowing in the firelight.
Rhys suddenly stands, pointing a finger toward the sky. “Look! It’s a shooting star.” We all turn our gazes upward, the streak of light leaving a trail across the sky before fading away. “Make a wish,” he says with a smirk.
I close my eyes as Rhys urges everyone else to do the same in between his laughter. When I open my eyes again, I see Slade staring at me with a soft smile on his face. “You didn’t make a wish, did you?” he asks.
“I don’t need to,” I answer confidently. “I have everything I need right here.”
