Chapter 31 #3
“Enough, Greg,” I snap, going to slap him across the face, but he catches my wrist in the air, halting me from slapping him.
“I know women like you. I also know how to break them in real good. Take you home and put that mouth to use,” he growls.
“Listen, Greg. That’s enough!”
Grabbing me by the neck, he pulls me off the counter onto the floor. “No, you listen, you little bitch!”
I have to catch myself by gripping onto the counter so I don’t fall.
With his face entirely too close to mine though, that’s when I immediately smell alcohol on his breath. The smell makes me want to dry heave. It has my mind spiraling back to all of the times James grabbed me by the neck or by the hair when he was drunk.
“Don’t you fucking disrespect me. You aren’t better than me,” Greg spews venom.
“You have two seconds to get your hand off of me or I’m breaking your fucking fingers!” I scream in his face.
A snarl forms on his lips, as I count to two in my head.
“Two,” I think to myself before I’m slamming my knee into his dick. Ripping his pinky out to the side as far as I can, of the hand that’s wrapped around my neck, before he yells out in pain, buckling over.
“You bitch!” Greg barely grits out before I see Beck by the door.
We make eye contact and he goes on alert.
“Help, please,” I mouth to him. Taking several steps back away from Greg, as he lays crumpled over on the floor.
I watch him have a short conversation with Asher before he’s charging through the crowd toward me.
In seconds, Beck’s in front of me scooping me up in his arms. Checking over every inch of me.
“What the fuck did you do to my girl?” Beck growls at him, still holding me in his arms. My legs wrapped around his waist.
“She never said she was your girl!” he barks back.
“You never asked before you put your disgusting hands on me,” I snap at Greg.
“The stupid bitch is all yours!” he curses, slowly trying to get up off of the ground.
“What the fuck did you just say?” Beck demands.
Setting me down on the counter. Beck stands in front of Greg, stepping on his very obviously broken hand, making him cry out. Gripping him by the shirt, Beck starts to lift him up, as he continues to stand on his hand, making him yell out in pain.
“I said. What. The. Fuck. Did. You. Say?” Beck snarls in Greg’s pained face.
“I can have you both arrested for assault!” he cries out.
“The fuck you can. As far as I see it, you assaulted my girl and we have at least ten friends here as witnesses to back that up. On top of that, my buddy Ash, over there by the door, is security tonight and so am I, so good luck, asshole,” Beck says menacingly.
“What the fuck happened?” Quinn screeches when she returns from the bathroom.
“This asshole put his hands on, Sloan. He was just getting ready to leave,” Beck offers.
“You did what!” she shrieks, gripping Greg by the hair and tugging his head up.
“I watch enough true crime to make your body disappear. Not a soul would ever find you. Touch one of my friends again and you’re dead! Touch another woman again and I find out, you’re dead! Now get the fuck out of my café!” Quinn rears back kicking Greg in the dick herself.
“Let me help escort you out, asshole.” Beck manhandles Greg’s hunched over form.
Poor guy looks like he’s trying to fight back tears.
“I’ll be right back, baby.” Beck kisses my cheek softly.
I sit on the counter top as the show continues. Not many people noticing the slight interruption in our corner thankfully. I watch him haul Greg by his shirt to the front door.
As Beck reaches the exit, Asher opens it, both looking furious. “Don’t ever come back here again!” I watch Asher yell as Beck shoves Greg out the open door, hitting the cement outside. Asher slamming it shut.
Beck immediately makes his way back over to me, pulling me off the counter into his arms.
“Please tell me you’re okay, Little Dove.” Beck cradles my face in his hands, kissing my forehead, nose and then my lips so gently.
“I’m okay. Thank you for coming when I needed you.” I sigh. Kissing him back and wrapping my arms around his waist.
“You really fucked up his finger.” Beck chuckles. Leaning his forehead against mine. “Nice work, baby!”
I giggle back. “Some guy taught me how to do that. It stuck with me.”
When we pull away, Beck turns me around so I face the stage, but tucks me against his chest.
“I’m not letting you out of my sight the rest of the night.”
“You were in my line of sight all night, babe.”
“Have you been watching me, Little Dove?”
“I don’t know? Have I been?”
Quinn sits on the ledge of the counter just watching us with a knowing look in her eye and the widest grin on her face.
“Ahhhh! I fuckin knew you two were gonna be endgame!” Quinn squeals.
I twist my head to look up at Beck, our eyes meet, and we both start laughing.
He leans down and kisses me softly. “I’m really glad you’re okay, Little Dove.”
“I’m really glad I met you, Beck. Thank you.” I kiss his chin and then nestle back into his arms, to watch the rest of the show.
“What are you thanking me for, baby?” he whispers in my ear, as he holds me tucked into his chest.
“For being you. Just for being you, Beckett Scott.”
