Chapter 35
Chapter Thirty-Five
Beck
Sloan, Sutton, August and I are sitting in their living room together in comfortable silence.
Looking at the two of them curled up on the couch, I feel nothing but happiness for them.
The apartment was cleared by the police fairly swiftly since Sutton gave them the green light. The roses were really the only evidence in the apartment to report. Sloan was more than happy to see those roses being taken away.
Note to self, literally never bring a white flower home to Sloan, ever.
The alley video footage was the most important. The footage was fairly dark but they thankfully obtained that quickly and they could see what they needed to, to let Sloan and me off the hook.
Mayhem lays at Sloan’s feet, while Khaos lays at Sutton’s.
When did Sloan become his to protect?
Sutton wrapped Sloan in three blankets and made her the largest cup of tea I’ve ever seen the second we got in the door.
I asked Sloan to let me take her to the hospital but she declined. I also asked her to come back to my place with me but she said she’d rather stay here tonight which I was surprised about given the attack.
After what Sloan went through, I don’t want to be away from her.
The sight of her pale skin, her covered in blood, and her going in and out of consciousness, nearly had my heart stopping.
Thankfully Mayhem reacted to James getting near Sloan as quickly as he did, snapping me out of my own fear of her possibly being hurt.
The front door bursting open startles all of us. When Quinn rushes over to Sloan, shoving me aside and squeezing Sloan to her.
“Oh my gosh! Let me look at you. I got here as fast as I could. I hope that piece of shit rots in prison!” Quinn yells, holding Sloan slightly away from her as she looks her over, before pulling her back into a tight hug.
“Blondie, let the girl breathe,” Knox chastises Quinn as he walks in behind her, taking a seat on the floor near August. I didn’t even notice him coming in.
Ash follows in last, closing the front door and locking it behind him. Ash pulls up one of the barstools from the kitchen. Pulling it into the living room and closing out our little circle.
When did we become a circle?
Wait. Why did Knox come with Ash and Q?
“How are you holding up, Sloan?” Asher asks her quietly.
“I’m… I’m okay. Shaken up. But it’s almost like I feel free,” Sloan whispers so softly.
“Could you… Would you tell us what happened?” Sutton asks cautiously, lacing her fingers with Sloan’s.
Quinn laces hers through her other hand, squeezing gently.
“Do you promise you won’t hate me for keeping so many secrets?” Sloan asks, eyes cast down to the floor.
I reach across Quinn, placing my fingers gently on Sloan’s chin, tilting her head up, so her eye’s meet mine. “We could never hate you, Little Dove.”
“We promise,” we all say in unison.
I hold my breath and brace myself to hear all that my baby has endured.
