Chapter 14
Riley
“Riley, you look so pretty on your knees. You take this cock so perfectly,” he says as he pulls his dick out of my mouth and rubs the tip of it against my lips. “Do you want to please me?”
I nod my head yes.
“I’m gonna need to hear it from you. Use your words, Riley.”
“Yes sir,” I hear myself say. My voice sounds muffled.
“I can’t hear you Riley. What did you say?”
I try to say “yes sir" again but it’s still jumbled.
“Riley? Riley, wake up.” My eyes go wide and I realize that the voice I’m hearing isn’t Sebastian’s anymore. I’m jolted fully awake by the feel of a hand on my shoulder. Looking up, I realize that Kaz is standing next to me, looking around quickly before raising her eyebrows in my direction.
“You okay friend?” she asks, clearly confused by this situation. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so bored they fall asleep at Bolt! Or brave, maybe not bored, just brave. ”
Oh my god. I must have fallen asleep at my desk. I mumble to Kaz something along the lines of “Good god don’t tell anyone that happened,” and try to act as if nothing has happened. I look at her directly. “I just haven’t been getting much sleep at home. If Nate is home, he’s usually been drinking and I find myself on edge all night expecting him to want something from me!” I say it jokingly but I’m dead serious.
“What do you mean, if he is home?” Kaz asks, clearly confused.
“It’s just that Nate’s started working a new job and he says he’s expected to take clients out for dinner and that usually turns into schmoozing them beyond dinner. He seems happier now that he’s back at work…but yeah some nights he’s not home till really late.”
“Ummm,” she starts, “don’t you think that’s a little weird?”
I look at my phone so I can avoid eye contact with Kaz. I feel ashamed to admit I have suspicions he’s been cheating on me. I haven't been able to confirm anything around what Corrine had told me. I even snuck some glances at his phone when he was in the shower over the weekend and I couldn’t find any texts from anyone other than his buddies and a couple new work colleagues.
“I’m sure it’s nothing. He’s just busy settling into the new role. ”
It’s been a few months since I started at Bolt. Since my first “encounter” in Sebastian’s office, I’ve managed to be cautious about any time we’re spending alone together. He’s asked me to assist him on a number of cases and needs, and each time I’ve been sure to leave the door open. I have a whole list of excuses at the ready in case he needs me to stay late again.
‘My husband has been MIA some nights, I need to go home.’
‘My sister is expecting me to meet her out for drinks.’
‘My dog needs to be let outside.’
All of these of course would be utter bullshit- aside from the part about Nate not being home some nights. I hate to say it’s been nice, because I am a little hard-pressed to believe it’s all work related. But it has been a relief to not expect the sex advances after his binges.
I look over at Sebastian’s office. He’s been leaving the blinds open more lately, which is both nice and a little intimidating. I swear everytime I look over it’s like he’s been waiting for me to glance his way. He’s usually on the phone or on his computer, but he always looks directly at me, with this gleam in his eye that makes me squirm a bit. He still makes me self-conscious, even after all this time has passed.
Kyle, the fellow intern and resident gay hunk of the floor, always seems to catch me when I’m in one of my daydreams. He has been working feverishly the last couple of weeks, and I’d told him we’d go out when he wrapped things up this week.
“Still on for tonight?” Kyle asks. He’d managed to pack up his things and walk over to my desk while I was not paying attention.
“Yeah, of course!” I say. “Let me just wrap up a couple things. I’ll meet you and Kaz there.” I scan my email another time, making sure I’m not leaving anything unanswered before I shut down for the day.
Suddenly I see a message pop up on my desktop. It’s from Sebastian. I click his name and the text opens up on my screen.
‘Going somewhere special, Miss Green?’
I blush. Was he watching me talk to Kyle? Does he always watch me?
‘Hi. We’re just going out to celebrate Kyle’s work on that case with Jamison.’ I start to type out.
I wait. Should I invite him? Would that be weird? Surely he wouldn't want to join a couple of interns and Kaz out for drinks, right?
‘You’re welcome to join us if you’d like,’ I add after a moment. I realize I’m holding my breath. What if he says yes? Will something happen between us again? I glance over his way, he’s smirking and I see his text pop up.
‘No thanks. I don’t like to share when I want something.’
Well fuck. That was cryptic. I can’t look over at him. I know he’ll be watching my reaction. I just gather up my things and write back. ‘Goodnight sir.’ I turn off my computer before I can think more and head toward the elevator.
I need a drink.
