Chapter 19
Chapter Nineteen
Rafael
As soon as Samantha is out of sight, Santiago whirls to face me.
“How is she so calm? What did you do? I can’t believe she let me touch her!” The words pour out of him in a torrent unlike I’ve ever heard from him.
“She knows you meant her no harm.”
“No, she doesn’t. Didn’t. I fucked up. I—”
“San. She knows.” I cut him off. “Her instincts flared up, and you can’t blame her for that, but she knows.”
“I’m not blaming her! I’m blaming myself. Hell, how are you tolerating me—”
I grasp his wet hair and yank his mouth to mine. Purely to shut him up. No other reason. The kiss is over before it even begins and I jerk back, cursing my own stupid instincts.
“I’m tolerating you because you pinning her to the bed turned her the fuck on. Because I know you’d never hurt her.”
“Oh.” He gasps and licks his lips.
“Oh, indeed. Now, we have a body to cover.”
“What did she mean by you stocking up?” he asks, eyes locked to my lips.
“Blood,” I rasp out. “I need to drink from you again.”
“Ahh,” Santiago hums, sounding hesitant before squaring his shoulders. “And she wanted us to do it outside? Out of sight, out of mind?”
“I think something along those lines. She can’t drink from you… doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to.”
Santiago relaxes at that, and I wonder what’s going on in his mind. I know my mind is focused on the vein on his neck. And the ache in my cock.
“Well, come on then,” he says, tilting his head.
Earlier, I drank from his neck because it was the easiest access with Samantha between us, but he’s offering his neck again.
I purr loudly and move closer.
“I can take from your wrist,” I offer, trying to give him an out. Baring a neck like that, it’s significant and I don’t want to presume.
“No,” he grinds out.
I wait for more, but he stays silent, head tilted to the side. I move to stand behind him and can’t help running a finger up and down his throat, tracing the vein. Santiago shivers, just a fraction, when I place my lips on his skin and glide my fangs in.
The storm around us fades into the background and I drink deep, long pulls. Hell, his blood tastes so good, I feel like I’m drunk. My hands wrap around him, clutching him closer, and I lick his skin between gulps.
I’m pretty sure that if I moved my hand lower, his cock would be hard. Mine is pressing against the seam of my jeans and I barely resist the urge to grind against Santiago.
“Fuck.” He sighs when I pull free and close the pricks on his neck.
“Yeah, fuck.”
“We could… before you make the call.” He sounds out of breath.
The offer freezes me in my place. Then I take a step back. I want Samantha in the mix. It doesn’t feel right without her. Santiago looks at me over his shoulder and whatever he sees on my face makes his eyes dull a bit.
“Not without Samantha.”
“Fuck,” he says again, but it’s more of an agreement than anything else.
“You could… keep her entertained while I deal with the pack.”
“She won’t fall for that, or if she does, she’s going to be beyond pissed when she realizes we played her.”
“Could be worth it to keep her out of whatever this is,” I say and mean it. A dead wolf dumped on my land. Small things like that are always a sign of bigger trouble.
She’s angry with me already. For a reason, of course, but adding more to it doesn’t feel like such a bad idea if it keeps her safe. She might even forgive us after a couple hundred orgasms.
“Let’s just get the body covered and see what she thinks,” Santiago says.
“You go talk to her,” I force words out. The image of the two of them going at each other turns me even harder. “You need to clear the air,” I add when I see he’s about to refuse.
“But—”
“I’ll cover the body and make the call.” He hesitates, so I point at the door. “Go apologize.”
“Fine,” he says. Then he grabs my neck and pulls me in for a hard kiss. “I’m sorry, angel.”
He blurs inside, and inwardly, I curse every wolf on the planet. Dead or alive.
Bunch of cockblockers, all of them.
