MEREDITH

When I step back into my bedroom with coffee, my sheets are pushed down to his waist, showing off his V, his arm folded back behind his head. He lazily stretches out one long, muscled leg, and I want to jump him all over again.

“Don’t look at me like that, or you’ll never make it to work,” he rasps, his lips curving into a smile.

Last night was huge and not just his cock.

We told each other we loved each other.

Is it too soon? Maybe, but it doesn’t feel that way.

Handing him his mug of coffee, I sit on the edge of the bed and take a sip from mine. “How’s everything going with you and Skull now?”

“Good,” he replies, tipping his head to the side.

“I mean, now that I have you, I can understand how he was feeling. And his focus should be on Isla and keeping her happy, just like mine is on you. It doesn’t mean I don’t love him any less…

He’s still a part of me. Nothing can break our bond.

We just have more people to love now. I guess the only family we ever had was each other, and now we’ve added to it.

He’s still going to live right next door to us, and there’s a connecting door. ”

“Us?”

He told me all about his new house on the clubhouse property, and as soon as it’s ready, they will all be moving in there. I know he wants me to move in, too, but I don’t think there’s any rush. I’ll wait and see how I feel when it’s time.

“Yes, you know I want you with me. My old lady.” He scrubs his hand down his face. “I always said I’d never have one of those.”

Smirking, I lean over and kiss his mouth. “You never know where life will take you. Now finish your coffee and join me in the shower. I’m pretty sure we both have to get to work.”

“Yeah, but I’m the boss.” He grins, winking at me. “So it’s okay if I’m late. I know you love your job, but if you ever want to take a break or quit, I have enough money for us. Skull and I have heaps saved away.”

“You two share a bank account?” I ask, not even surprised at this stage.

He grins. “Yeah, we do. We always have. We do have individual ones where we can move money if we want, though.”

“I don’t want to quit my job, but thank you for giving me that option. Now I get to choose to work because I want to, not because I’ll lose my house if I don’t,” I tease, and he sits up and lets the sheet fall.

“You have nothing but options, baby. Except when it comes to dicks.” He flashes me a charming smile, showing off his teeth. “Then you just get this.”

“All I want is that,” I say as my gaze drops to his hardening cock. I undo my robe and let it fall to the floor. “I’ll be in the shower.”

He takes three seconds before he’s up and trailing behind me.

Friday after work, I drive straight to the clubhouse to stay the weekend.

We have our girls’ night out next weekend, but tonight everyone is hanging out at the Serpents of Chaos bar.

A few of the men are away on a run to their Dawson chapter, so not everyone will be around.

Patch, one of the prospects, opens the gate for me.

By the time I’ve parked, Nate has my door open, and I’m lifted into his arms.

“Finally, you’re here.”

“I came straight here,” I say, laughing when he carries me with my legs wrapped around him inside and doesn’t put me down until we are at the bar. The women clock me immediately and start to make their way over.

“Did you bring your swimsuit?” Xanthe asks. “We’re all going for a swim now.”

“Yeah, I did.” I turn to Nate and realize I left my bag in the car. “Can you get my bag, please?”

“Sure, baby.” He takes my keys and kisses my lips before he goes.

“You two are so freaking cute.” Lu beams, just as Haze comes up behind her and kisses the side of her neck.

He lifts her in his arms, and she squeals. “We’ll be in the pool!”

Everyone gets changed. Rose, Brandy, and Janet are at the bar, and they don’t look happy, but I ignore them.

Lore steps into the room with no shirt on, just a pair of shorts and a smile. His son, Rider, is next to him, holding his hand. He’s a mini version of Lore and is super cute.

“Just how big is this pool?” I ask, laughing when Rider comes up and looks at me.

“You’re pretty,” he announces, ditching his dad’s hand for mine. “Want to go for a swim with me?”

Nate comes back with my bag hanging off his shoulder and takes my other hand.

“I have to go and get changed, but then I’ll come for a swim, okay?”

Rider nods and does a little happy dance. We walk upstairs, which takes longer than I expected, with Nate unable to keep his mouth off me. He stayed at mine last night, so it’s not like he’s been without my company.

“I missed you today. I took Natalia to the pool for a swim and then was tempted to bring you some lunch at work.”

“You should have.”

“I didn’t want to show up at your office after I came in as your client,” he reminds me, stopping to push me against the room door and kiss me again. “Your receptionist would remember me. She was giving me fuck-me eyes.”

Isla comes out of the room next door, holding a freshly bathed Natalia in her arms. “Hello, you two. Could you take her while I get changed?”

Nate puts his hands out, and she hands her over. Natalia makes some little cooing sounds, and they are so adorable. He opens his door with his free hand, and we step inside. He puts my bag down on the bed. I open it and dig through to get out my royal blue bikini.

“I’ve never seen you in a bikini,” he rasps, sitting and watching me.

“Well, today’s your lucky day.” I grin, head into the bathroom, and remove my work clothes.

I put on the cheeky blue bottoms that tie up at the sides, and then the triangle top, making sure my boobs are in their allocated positions.

Then I run my fingers through my hair, setting it just how I like it.

When I step back into the room, Nate slowly checks me out from head to toe.

“You look…” He swallows hard. “Turn around for me, baby.”

I do a little turn, and he makes a growling sound. “Nope, you aren’t going out in front of the single brothers in that.”

“Yes, I am,” I reply cheerfully.

He stands up and hands me Natalia, who grips onto my hair and smiles up at me. My heart melts instantly. She slowly blinks and tilts her head to the side as she watches me, just like her dad does.

“I didn’t stand a chance with you, did I?” I murmur, while Nate strips down and puts on his swimming shorts.

She makes a giggling sound, and I gently run my finger down her soft cheek. “She’s so cute, Nate. She looks just like you and Skull.

“You look good with a baby,” he rasps, his eyes gentle.

“Don’t get any ideas just yet,” I say, but he kisses my forehead, then Natalia’s, and my throat tightens.

I’ve never had this before, and it’s showing me how sad and distant my life has been. There’s been a wall up between my family and me, and there wasn’t this connection with any of my exes.

I’ve been missing out on this for my entire life.

And although it might be terrifying, I’m going to grab onto it with both hands.

And pray he won’t be my biggest heartbreak.
