Chapter 18

Zoey

Ishould’ve stayed home. I’m in no mood to party. But that’s not the point, is it? I’m here to drown out the noise in my head. But all this is doing is making it louder.

I never realized how immature high school boys are until now.

They’re kind of annoying actually. And really, really loud.

Cooper and all his football buddies are over in the kitchen smashing beer cans to their heads and having a belching contest. And the girls…

I scan the room and it’s just like the hallways of our school.

They’re all tucked in their little cliques, whispering about others.

I don’t even care that half of them are staring at me.

I used to want to be in the fold, but now I just want to be with Bones.

Teagan ran off with Mike the moment we walked in.

I’m pretty sure they’re going to be an item before the night’s end.

But since she’s my ride home, it means I’m not going anywhere until she’s finished messing around with him.

And I don’t even have my phone to keep me occupied.

I didn’t want my dad to track me on our family app so I left it at the house.

Which means I can’t check my messages to see if Bones has texted.

Not that he would. He had hours to call or text before I left, but he didn’t.

The sound of a door slamming against the wall has me looking up from the hole I’m burning into the carpet with the sole of my shoe.

All the oxygen suddenly gets sucked from the room.

He’s here. Bones in all his menacing stature with his face covered in that signature skull scarf is standing in the doorway.

How did he find me?

His angry eyes scan the room looking for me.

His shoulders are so brittle his bones might crack under the tension.

There’s nowhere for me to hide. And what he’ll do when he catches me is anybody’s guess.

His head turns in my direction and fear slithers down my body.

The serpent has spotted his prey, and his eyes grow even darker.

He points that stern finger at me then crooks it for me to come. I can barely rise from the chair; my knees are shaking. I’m in so much trouble. Every heavy step is caked with dread. The bass of the music playing is being drowned out by my pounding heart.

“Zoey! I’ve been looking for you.” Teagan’s voice barely registers. What does register is how the words die on her tongue. “Do you… Oh shit.”

She can say that again. I don’t even look at her or anyone else as I walk to the front door.

Bones hasn’t unlocked that scowling glare.

When I get to him, he merely steps aside to let me pass— not saying a word.

I walk straight through the doorway, down the front steps, stopping at his huge metal beast, which he practically parked on the front lawn.

He grabs the helmet from his seat and hands it to me. Still not saying a peep. The silence is blaring though; I’m almost deaf from the anger.

“You have no idea.” The gritted whisper is so heavy in its warning it nearly blows me over. He straddles his bike and starts his engine, waiting for me to climb behind him, refusing to even look at me.

I grab his shoulders for support and feel how brittle they are.

“I’m sorry,” I whisper in his ear as I settle behind him.

For what it’s worth, I have to say it, hoping it will soften his mood.

His entire body rocks with a shiver, and I wrap my arms around his waist. He grips my hands, locking me tighter before he backs off the grass and then takes off.

Every mile we drive closer toward my house feels like another nail hammered into my coffin.

I know he won’t hurt me, but I’m certain he’ll realize just how immature I am and will end things between us.

I pitched a fit and intentionally disobeyed the rules.

He pulls down the dark alleyway that I turned onto the first day he followed me. I don’t understand why he’s taking the long way. Until he stops. Parking his bike and cutting the engine. He climbs off and curses to the moon. “Fuck.”

He whips around to face me. “Do you know how fucking scared I was? You can never fucking do that again, baby. There are some really bad men in this world. And some of those men would love to hurt you.” He cups my chin, pulling me close.

“I wouldn’t survive if anything happened to you, angel. I couldn’t fucking survive it.”

Those words have a heavy impact, each one making my heart beat faster. I’m so in love with this man it terrifies me.

“I’m sorry, Bones. I didn’t mean to scare you. I was upset and I didn’t want to sit at home alone. I just love you and want to be with you.”

“You what?” He grips me tighter. “Say it again, baby.”

“I love you.”

His eyes close like those words are sinking in. He breathes in slow and deep, opening them on the exhale. They’re glassy and full of so much softness. I’ve never seen him look so at ease before. He always looks tense.

“I’ve waited my entire life to hear those words, angel.

You have no idea. No idea how I feel when I’m with you.

You bring me calm. It’s so quiet in my head when you’re near.

” He pulls me closer. “Baby, I know our situation isn’t ideal, but I’ll figure out a way for us to be together. I just need you to be patient with me.”

I can do that. I should’ve been patient tonight instead of running off to that stupid party.

“I’m not going anywhere, Bones. You’re the only one I want to be with.”

“You better say that.” He snarls, leaning into my neck and running his smooth lips up my skin. “You don’t have a choice at this point. I’m so in love with you that I could never let you go.”

My entire body heats, like he just scorched the earth at my feet.

“Need to get you home, babe. I need to lay you out and worship my pretty angel.”

He presses his lips to mine, kissing me until I’m delirious.

“It’s time to go before I can’t stop myself.”

He moves with urgency. Climbing back onto his bike and taking off.

He stops down the street from my house and parks in between two vehicles.

Then he lifts me off the back and carries me to my house.

He’s figured out how to get around all the security cameras, and to get us to my room without going detected.

My dad is probably sound asleep by now. The snore coming down the hall from his room is a good indicator.

Once we’re behind my locked door, he lays me down and starts to undress. I’m hypnotized by his body. He’s a real man. Not like those boys tonight with their baby faces and their stupid drinking games. Bones is rugged and strong, and he knows how to handle a woman.

“Now, it’s your turn,” he says, stalking forward.

I sit up and hold my arms up for him. He slips my shirt over my head, then moves to the little clasp at the front of my bra. This time, he doesn’t rip it apart. He slowly works it open, and as the cups pull away from my skin, his eyes get that heated look in them.

“I’m never going to get over how beautiful you are, angel. Every inch.”

The straps slide down my arms and off. I sit back, letting those big fingers of his access the button of my jeans. He doesn’t waste time. Taking them off and then stripping my panties down.

“You shaved.” His groan rumbles over me, pricking goosebumps across my skin. “Such a pretty little thing. You look too sweet for me, little one. So sweet and soft.” His fingers play with my clit and my head drops back as the feelings stir in the base of my gut, engulfing me in flames.

“I’m going to take good care of you, angel. I’m going to make sure it doesn’t hurt. But first, we need to get you ready.”

He drops to his knees and drags me to the edge of my bed. Then… his mouth is on me.

Pulling me to the brink.

Climbing me faster and faster.

Making me grip the sheets as I try not to scream. It feels too good.

“That’s a good girl.” He pulls away, leaving me throbbing on the edge. “I think you’re ready now.”

Desperate is more like it.

“It may hurt for just a pinch, angel, but the pain will go away, and then I promise it will feel good. Now, grab your pillow for me.”

I reach back for it and pull it to my chest, ready to bite down. He shifts between my legs and then I feel the pressure as he pushes in slowly, that thick shaft sliding against my walls, rubbing over spots I didn’t know existed. It feels intense. More intense than his fingers.

He freezes briefly and then his hips thrust forward, breaking past my hymen, taking my virginity in one push. The sting isn’t at all what I expected, but that could be because watching his body vibrate as the look of pure pleasure crosses his face is distracting me from it.

“God, nothing has ever felt so good.” His eyes slowly open, head lifting, and he finds me. “Are you okay, baby?”

“More than okay.”

“Already ready for me, huh?”

“Always.”

He doesn’t hesitate, taking the lead and drawing himself back out, then back in.

This time, there is no pain, only pleasure.

He does it again, and again, quickening his pace as he continues to thrust into me.

His thumb rolls over my clit, rubbing across my bare skin and my core tightens. It’s almost there. I’m so close.

“I’m going to come inside you, baby, unless you tell me otherwise.”

“I’m on the pill.”

“I wouldn’t care either way. You’re mine.”

The thought of having his baby soaks me, and he growls again.

“Come for me, angel. I can’t hold on any longer.”

His gritted words send me right over the edge.

I come apart, the pleasure chasing me down.

And he’s right behind me. His hips thrusting hard and fast, jerking into me as I feel his warm seed filling me up.

I almost wish I’d forgotten to take my pill.

But my dad would kill me if I got pregnant. No… My dad would kill him.

“You okay, angel?”

“I’ve never been better, Bones.”

“Me neither, baby.” He brushes the sweaty hair off my face. “I’m going to go draw you a bath.”

My body tingles at the thought. I love sharing bathtime with him. It’s one of my favorite things to do.

‘’You are a naughty girl.” He smirks. “Tell you what. I’ll let you run that little cunt under the water and get nice and clean, but you aren’t allowed to come. You’re going to climb on my cock and finish yourself off.”

“Race you to the bath.” I smile, jumping off the bed.
